A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

They really, really don't. In the typical police shooting in the US they put more rounds into the floor, sky, passing busses full of nuns and orphaned puppies etc. than they do into the aspiring rapper. Less than 50% hit probability in shootings where the shooter isn't firing and is less than 7 yards away.

There was a particularly execrable instance a few years back when the NYPD managed to fire 84 shots in a single incident with one single round hitting the church choirboy who was turning his life around and going to college, in the calf.

As a kid watching Brass Eye really shaped my sense of humour but looking back on it in 2025 shows that maybe the critics were right. He really likes to say a lot but not expand on anything, and he got a huge kick out of being a contrarian little fence sitter on issues you couldn't really 'both sides'.

I'd argue his paedo special just sucked, it was tonally all over the place and attacking the media over how they got up in arms over paedophiles felt like semi-enabling behaviour as if it just doesn't happen so you should shut up and get over it. "Oh look at these plebs, I bet they think that paedophiles should be burned in a Wicker Man, right?" Like who goes out of their way to empathise with paedophiles?

But because he does everything under the cloak of 'satire' he can say anything and nobody can really say anything about him because it's satire right and you just don't get the complex humour involved in putting a child's face on a naked woman's body.

Yeah a friend showed me Pedogeddon and the general tone I got was "these stupid plebs think pedos are everywhere!" Kinda weird stance to take, especially when UK girls were being raped by pedos at an industrial scale around that time up to now.
 
I checked BBC News yesterday morning. 8/10 top stories were about this Panorama investigation into the Met. I watched a video of a man, several pints down, sayin' he'd cut the cocks off rapists. Big deal.

It was a busy day for me.
Looked at it again in the evening. All the stories were about a synagogue stabber. No mention of the victory march the pro-Pallies did outside Number 10, in spite of updates every few minutes until almost midnight.

Anyway, it's spooky pfp season. Who can identify the woman in my October avatar?

Watch the video earlier in the thread again, looks like he gets shot near centre mass and you can see him rolling around afterwards so they shoot him a second time. If the standard move is to go for a headshot and neutralize him immediately then they either forgot or managed to miss their target who was standing still waving a knife and allah ackbaring with shot from a long gun from less than 15m.

Idk mate, standard rule of gun safety is know what your target is and be aware of your surroundings including what's behind it, meaning if you're firing a .223 round at a guy standing in front of a wooden door he's actively trying to knife his way into you should anticipate overpenetration and adjust your angle so the guy isn't directly in line with it.

Get not wanting to hold people to impossible standards and that it was a stressful adrenaline fueled situation, but accountability is important since if you give the cops a pass on fucking up like this then they learn nothing and don't adjust their training or tactics a hair (If it ain't broke don't fix it right).

So they some how managed to shoot 2 Jews and definitely killed 1 of them. How utterly incompetent are the UK police? Not even American police with how trigger happy they get are this retarded, they very likely just ran in and started blasting at the guy without even taking time to properly aim at him or just mag dumped into a wall.

The other theory was they knew Jihad (stabbers name btw) needed to kill at least 1 Jew to get his 72 virgins so they had the genius idea to deny him this and send him to hell for a dishonourable Jihad. Now if this was their idea then bravo.

The one thing missing was he didn't name drop far right or blame social-economic factors but he comes pretty close with "many will try divide us"

Usually armed police are pretty well trained. That’s a bit weird and I’d like to know more about what the fuck happened. Could just be that bullets be doing bullet things.

At the time innocent people were being labelled pedos by the press and houses burned down. The press did need insulting of this issue.
One famous incident was where a paediatrician or podiatrist (I forget which) had to hang a sign outside his house explaining the difference between that and pedophile.
