A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

As for my earlier comment re: why some people put on weight, in time I'm going to do a deeper dive into sites which not only encourage the fetish of feeding but actively demand it.

It's a horrible world where feeders pray on feedees and literally have their lives in their hands.

As for weight loss, I'm glad for Carolyn Harris that she's happier as a size 10.

Still not a fan of her or her politics, but all power to her for making changes which make her happy.

A child who was playing on the monkey bars in the park saw Mart holding her penis and wiggling it at her, and she immediately told her friends and father.

"Her penis" - any person that uses that phrase is an insufferable retard.

I do wonder about some of the fathers in these incidents. They are clearly better men than I. Hypothetically obviously, but if I was the father, I think Mart would be "post op" by now !

I don't know, I feel like the last 15 years have thaught me that not punching them in the face when they threaten your kids might be more restrained but not necessarily better.

I'm pretty sure Gary Plauche never had to worry about his son getting touched after visiting the kidnapper in the airport.

Oh shit, that's my main tactic too. If you think in these absolutes rather than specifics and just say "right I've had 700 calories today" when the total is actually in the 500 - 550 mark, you're laughing. Lie to yourself and your body and it actually works.

For me it was about 3 years of clinical depression brought on by a bereavement. Won't go into details but you do just stop caring. Drinking most of your daily recommended calories in alcohol, just eating the absolute worst things. It's really easy to do but hard to undo.

I hadn't used social media in like a decade until a few weeks ago and fucking hell it's just almost all grifters on the right. Accounts like the one you described just casually detailing a crime or a video to get clicks but not providing any proof or evidence or even court cases. Then in the next post: "Donate to help the cause!".

I did see that Advance UK finally hit 30k fully paid up members (£300k per year minimum excluding donations: that's just memberships) and they've promised to register with the Electoral Commission. It's not a bad grift from Ben Habib (born in Pakistan): as registering with the Electoral Commission costs £150 so I'm not exactly sure why his personal TFD (Total Farage Death) project needs 30k registered members to register. Monster Raving Loony Party doesn't have 30k members.

And its all started coming out in the last 14 days, which indicates a coordinated operation.

That's really weird, the "Celtic girl" shit has been constantly popping up for me. Not sure if it's organic.

That Irish one is the only interesting one, the other channels have non-glowwy sloptivity and seem to be chasing clicks because all of the videos on those past channels are topical for the time. Cracker Barrel logo change song, Sydney Sweeney, GTA 6. And those ones have been going for way before this entire flag stuff started.

On the Irish "They Sold Us Out" song video, there's this comment:

Now that is interesting. An old lady using AI to write a song to manifest her thoughts about the state of her country at the end of her life.

It really is hard too say. My initial thought process upon seeing all this stuff and seeing it originated in the last month was "oh shit".

Maybe it is organic? Probably pretty terrifying for Starmer if it is. My money though is on it being a combo. Trump HATES Sadiq Khan. He's never forgiven him for the "trump baby" balloon in his first term. I think if Trump thought he could get away with it, he would order the CIA to murder Khan in his sleep. So the "Arrive by Boat" Song that prominently features Khan makes me suspicious. Some of the other stuff could be seeing the trend and piling on.
 
Morning update on the worst neighbours ever, France. I wouldn't usually talk about them but it'll have knock-on consequences for us and the gov.

The Bayrou government is set to be toppled in the no confidence motion that they tabled, about 9 months after the previous Bernier government was toppled in a similar way because of the financial budget they've been trying to pass.

France's economy is in freefall and Marine Le Pen has declared France "the sick man of Europe". Now she can't run for president for five years, it's not a bad tactic. She says what she wants and Bardella runs for President.

As Macron is still the President until 2027, he'll either have to appoint the third attempt at a government or be in power as his political party is demolished. His only options at the moment either seem to be appointing a socialist Prime Minister Olivier Faure or calling elections.

Will be very interesting to see if France honours the apparent "one-in, one-out" deal. Government haven't released any public stats on how many have been returned (1,100 arrived yesterday).

I didn’t. I think out of everyone I know I was in the minority. There’s an awful book by a woman called emily oster called ‘expecting better’ where she Trusts The Science on all the pregnancy myths, and decides that yes you can drink during pregnancy. I have heard so many women cite this as an excuse.
But alcohol is NOT harmless during pregnancy, and the damage is done at specific points and lowish doses as far as I can see. It’s also very variable - I suspect some can drink more than others to get the same effect, it if you can’t put the booze and fags down for nine months you’ve got a problem. Still, SO many women I heard ‘that’s my limit for the week’ like it was an allocation.

You don’t. Nobody that size is happy or Ok with life. They need a much better care package, including food advice and psych help. NHS is too stretched but it’d save money long run. Being really fat is an outward sign of unhappiness, and people need HELP with it. We just don’t care for people - I look around and I see so many people just ground down by life, nobody really gives a shit about them. They’ve no hope, no future, and why would you look after yourself if nobody else cares?
