A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Is there a risk that if he cuts her loose, Corbyn will hoover up labour MPs like reform did to the tories?
He won't make any action without Blair telling him it's fine. Blair is basically the Shadow-Shadow PM, considering how much leverage he maintains over the Labour Party.

What the fuck is with Labour MPs and the inability to understand optics?
True Believers in the Cause don't need to obey petty things like optics.

Especially when they have an endless supply of willing defenders who will twist themselves into klein bottles to defend the slapper.
One benefit of the Jezbollah Jihad is that it'll divide the base of the true believers into which blob they'd like to wave the flag of. I imagine that Jezza will be getting the darkies and the stupid 20-somethings, while Labour will have to content itself with the schoolmarms and ugly millennial women.

I am pleased with the tepid response of Corbyn. This mother fucker thought he was going to be the new Farage, but his party is the retard containment for the far left, and even they aren't jumping.

So far, we have 4 cabinet ministers on resignation watch;
  1. Rayner, after the lawyers came out and dunked on her, it's over.
  2. Cooper; Epping winning their appeal response is a weakening of the blob. On top of that, poor management of the Home Office made her the perfect patsy.
  3. Philipson; her monumental fuck up of the education system
  4. Reeves, like Philipson, her position is a completely untenable position. He is trying to make her last until early December, but I think the conference is going to break him.
He is itching to get rid of Streeting, though, because that is the only person to realistically challenge him. The Rayner stuff was absolutely an op on his side to destroy her, but she played herself because she was seen in Hove, and people put pieces together. I said last year in the thread that Starmer has created a cabinet of fall guys, and whilst that was a game theory, I think I am correct on this one. He knew he was weak, so he had to surround himself in unknowns to weather 4 years.

Corbyn is letting Zarah Sultana walk all over him, she thinks it's her party and is trying to claim credit. Everyone knows she only pulled the trigger because Magic Grandpa wouldn't make a proper party for a year now - he should have made an effort after the Gaza MPs got elected and some of the Labour MPs getting suspended over the winter fuel payments.

It's just a containment group for all the Allan's Snackbar MPs and eventually the lefties that Starmer kicks out from Labour for being too on the left. Just because people like Diane Abbott and John McDonnell said they won't join doesn't mean that they won't change their minds if Jezbollah actually gets off the ground and becomes an annoyance for Starmer.

On the other hand, just look at what happened with Change UK / The Independent Group for Change. Jezbollah will fall apart in the same way if it continues to act incompetent. Wouldn't be surprised if Anna Soubry tried to join this at some point. Most of the others went to the Lib Dems and never got elected, I think one also rejoined Labour years later.

Did lol at one of the "Gaza MPs" say that trans women aren't women though. Awkward... If the Gaza MPs were in charge there'd be no talking about trannies aside from the roof top.

How Jezbollah performs is ultimately up to how they can run it and how many elections they run - will they try entering the councils? Will they try for seats next year in Scotland and Wales where there is proportional representation? 2029 might be hard given FPTP but let's see how bad Labour wreck things, Reform can't win every single area after all.

Does Starmer even want them in the cabinet or is it a case of 'needs must'.

If so, is Starmer just the frontispiece whilst Blair and/or McSweeney are actually doing the PM's job?

He may be a lot of things, but stupid he isn't - the man was Director of Public Prosecutions and whilst I can't stand him I'll give him credit for not being a complete retard. Therefore, why is he having to chair a cabinet with the combined intelligence of the Teletubbies, Mr. Blobby and Joey Essex?

Starmer must be thinking 'what the fuck are these morons on and why are they ruining it for me?'

He's the wrong man for the job, but the only one who can seemingly unite the Left against Corbyn and Farage. Remember that we could have had Rebecca Wrong-Daily or Lisa Blandy Nandy instead.

Starmer is best at agreeing to prosecute people - yes or no, tick or cross boxes all day long and get paid very well for doing so. What he is rubbish at is being a politician, Prime Minister and running what should be one of the strongest nations on the planet.

Imagine if you were that hated by your own voter base and the opposition; you couldn't trust those supposedly on your side and your 'closest and dearest friends' would sell you out or knife you in the back at any hour. That's Starmer's life now - he's only PM until the grandees have had enough.

What Starmer IMO wants is 400 or so Starmer's around him - people who are on his level and who will agree with him. What he doesn't want is insubordination and not getting his way, as well as feeling that he will have to spend more of his time dealing with twits who can't lie straight in bed who are causing the party irreparable damage at a time when Trump's visit is imminent and even the staunchest lefty is admitting that Farage will be PM 'very soon'.

Yes, Starmer loves power, but I don't believe he loves the responsibility of being PM - he can always make money as an ex-PM globally and I think he'd be happier doing that.

I have no love for Starmer, but even I feel a tiny bit sorry for him having to coach Fuckup FC to resounding defeats week in week out.

I am long past being a libertarian. I don't have a problem with things being banned or restricted by the government if the government is a just one.
Libertarianism lost it's purpose when the West imported millions of people from cultures where, once in power, would not give the same courtesy to the host as the host would to them. The whole "I'll leave you alone as long as long as I'm left alone" mantra doesn't mean shit when you "leaving alone" the state of society ensures you are eventually outnumbered by those who WILL make a problem for you.

"When I am weaker than you I ask you for freedom because that is according to your principles; when I am stronger I take away your freedom because that is according to MY principles." - Frank Herbert, "Dune"

Regarding the Jezbollah party, I would make a note of how many Black and Asian MP's there are nationally as these are all potentials to 'move across' when they feel that they're done/bored with Labour and it's 'so much cooler over there.'

My guesses as to which ones will move in London:

Abbott - Yes
Ali - Yes
Anderson - No
Brown - No
Buck - No
Butler - Yes and most likely to join next
Cadbury - No
Charalambous - No
Coyle - Possible
Creasy - No
Cruddas - No
Cryer - No
De Cordova - Yes
Daby - Yes
Efford - Yes
Fitzpatrick - No
Foxcroft - Potentially yes, apparently sidelined by Starmer
Gardiner - No
Harman - No
Hayes - No
Hillier - No
Hodge - Absolutely not
Huq - Yes
Jones - No
Allin-Khan - Yes
Lammy - No
Malhotra - Yes
McDonagh - No
McDonnell - Very likely to if the party takes off
Murray - No
Osamor - Yes
Oppong-Asare - Yes
Pennycook - No
Reed - No
Reeves (Ellie, Rachel's Sister) No
Siddiq - Yes
Slaughter - No
Streeting - No
Thomas - No
Thornberry - No
Timms - No
West - No

I think it’s rather amusing watching a man who should’ve been nothing more than an irrelevant backbencher have to pilot a burning clown car while the other clowns desperately try to wrench the steering wheel from him.

Don't forget the comically oversized steamroller slowly catching up to him driven by Nigel Farage, or Jeremy Corbyn on a unicycle not so subtly trying to steal one of the clown car's wheels.

The Tory clown car flipped over after Rishi reckoned he would drive it like the coolies ride their trains.

Seems like it would lead to heart conditions if you're popping those most of your life.
I remember hearing that it had happened to a kid in my school who was chugging 4 cans of the stuff daily, and that would've been over 10 years ago now.
We already have the solution:

The Doodle-Dandies have the right idea on this.

Goddamn, the media are wrecking Ange over using the funds from her SON'S trust. I am glad they're showing some integrity and focusing on this. Other than Sly news, fuck Beth Rigby for that. She has declined a lot over the last few years. I used to respect her.

GBNews nuke her. Even the gay Labour man cannot support her, it's fucking joever!

She cannot survive this; using her son's trust alone looks really fucking slimy. Even in the video statement she made, she misled the public and the House.

I can't stand Rigby. A grown woman with that haircut can't be taken seriously.

Edited to say I've just googled her. How who I thought. Who is that journalist from Sky with the ridiculous hair.

The haircut is unusual, but I understand why it is. Newscasters in the 1980s and 1990s typically had a signature style and adhered to it. Fiona Bruce is a classic example of this.

Sky News has given her nothing really hard-hitting, and now she has languished. The Rayner interview was unforgivable because there was bias there, and a lot of the questions had clearly been run through.

Sky News used to be OK, but now, my god.

Yeah, because all but the absolute dumbest of them can see he's just a figurehead for what's basically The Muslim Party.

Sky is an irrelevance. They are in a holding pattern for 3 more years until Comcast's funding pledge expires and they shut it down or sell it off. There is no risk of them doing anything resembling journalism before that point.

------------

It seems clear what will happen to the left. The Islamists will row in behind Jezbollah and once he retires or dies (he is 76 and not the picture of health) the mask will come off completely. The tankies, trannies and other helicopter fodder will row in behind Polanski, which will make life very interesting for the Greens as the otherwise moderate NIMBY wing (the part that wins seats in Sussex, Hertfordshire, East Anglia and other rural areas) will have to try and square that circle with their electorate.

And Labour will be left as a rump of beige social democrats.

The political landscape is changing, and people are angry enough as it is.
Labour members calling rape victims "scum" would be a scandal that would've shaken the entire party to its core like 20 years ago, now it's like every other week.
I'm reminded of The Thick Of It movie, I can't remember the plot details exactly but an MP makes an absolutely huge fuckup that directly harms international relations and the whole movie is about putting things in place to rectify the fuck up. The MP ends up keeping their job up until they realise that while all this has gone on, the public have become outraged at a wall being knocked down by that very MP. Said MP has to resign due to that.
I think it’s rather amusing watching a man who should’ve been nothing more than an irrelevant backbencher have to pilot a burning clown car while the other clowns desperately try to wrench the steering wheel from him.
It's why part of me wishes Corbyn had become PM just to watch him being viciously torn apart every single day. He wouldn't have lasted 6 months of having to deal with his own cunty Corbyn's trying to undermine every single thing he did.

Gay. Who even notices Fiona Bruce's hair? She looks like an Orc from Lord of the rings
Sky is an irrelevance
Sky are shifting to going full streaming service. They still have a lot of actual boomers subbing to them. Sky is essential to get the boomer sports even if you need to sub to 5 different subscription services. Sky will die when enough major sports get taken over by Amazon.

The big tent left will always tear themselves apart when they get in power. Imagine how mad the trannys must be knowing they voted in labour and immediately got told "No, you're a bloke in a dress" instead of getting their Utopia.

Yes, I should clarify - I meant that Sky News is an irrelevance. The rest of the company is still healthy.
