A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

These people are not socialists in any sense of the word. The concept of mass immigration and socialism are complete opposites. You cannot have a system built on heavily taxing people to give that to the poor if you continually import more poor people. Their only desire is to fuel the neverending train of gdp. Socialism would require the train to pull into the station for repairs and the line to stop going up for a while so it will never happen. It'd make sense if they were listed in order of frequency instead of alphabetized. Some of the peaks don't match up either, namely the pitcairn puerto rico one, idk which is 18. Some of the lines don't make sense either, the afghanistan one is just randomly not straight? Nigerian one too.

Yeah, it's just an export from my IDE which has a cool little graphing tool. Think it'd work way better for smaller sets of data but thought that info might be interesting.

This Epping Verdict is genuinely one of the worst outcomes the Government could've wanted.
Had the court injuction not been granted in the first place, little would be thought of it.
Had it stayed in place, small victories, and the problem would've been continued.

But now, in a 1000IQ move, Starmer has gone out of his way to outright prove to the entire population that "Yes, you are a second class citizen." and "No, the legal system is not going to end this crisis."

What doesn't help either is their age - we need more younger people joining and standing as PPC's.

That will hopefully come in time, a lot is now being done within the grass-roots and hopefully some of the youngsters will choose Reform UK for a better future for them, their families and friends and community.

Reform UK are guilty of building the house with the roof first, but it was a case of needs must in order to compete with Labour and the Tories.

I remain optimistic that the swing against Labour in the public's mood is going to bring about the change we need. They are hated by 95% of people (and if you thought what I said was bad, there's a few Green Party and Pro-Palestine tweets online which will make you blush!) and the split between the Backbench and the Frontbench is not going to be bridged.

In time, MP's will have the choice of HMS Labour hitting the iceberg or bailing out in the hope of saving their careers - those are the stark choices, literally sink or swim.

What I would do is ask Trump to put gun boats in the English Channel, if the Royal Navy won't do it.

We also need to find the funders and backers and arrest them.

There's a guy on Twitter/X called Simon Gosden who states that he is 'deep woke' and he is terminally online. His bookshop in Rayleigh, Essex, (from what I have heard) doesn't get a lot of trade and in fact he's not very popular in the area as Rayleigh is very much Reform UK land.

He's been asked how he can run a business, make a profit, be deep woke and pay off his bills whilst being terminally online... surprise, he never answers and just lashes out.

It's been mentioned that his business is a front for people smuggling - I wouldn't be surprised if true.
