A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I saw this and I'm dying. She's apparently one of your students that's in America rn. She is scared of ammo locked behind a glass case at a Walmart. You have to get a wagie to unlock the case and show ID just to get a box. Do britbong's really?
I've seen similar in every gun shop I've been in in England and Scotland. Fuckwitted middle class urbanite e-girls do be like that tho.

I really don't feel a scrap of pity, at all, for universities.

For years, they've,along with schools, fuelled the lie that uni is the best years of your life and a degree is a golden ticket, and the universities themselves have been a gateway to absolute dreck into the country.

There are too many universities, there are too many degrees, there are too many students and there are too many people employed in the sector doing jobs that only exist to prop up the sector, which is founded on BS and lies.

At most, we need a couple of dozen unis in the whole of the UK, offering academically rigorous degrees - STEM, languages,Law, architecture, art, and possibly history and the humanities, but limited places and split, into individual disciplines with higher standards. At a real push.

Anything else? Fuck off. Not clever enough to go? Sorry your parents sucked, and you never heard no but tough shit. Get used to it. Go and do something else with your life. Not everything is for you. Deal with it.

The university sector is a bubble and it needs to burst. The lie that you can only be considered "educated" if you have a degree needs to die.

It is bursting. They’ll blame Brexit but the problem for them is China are now educating their elite students at home and it’s the dregs coming to the west (or spies.)

The Chinese money going is hitting that sector hard. They made the mistake of “line goes up” and thought the money train would roll on forever. This dip is happening right after record recruitment years so a lot of universities, so along with the massive drop in revenue a lot are started expansion projects that are from the millions to the billions of pounds.

Couple this with retarded radical unions and there is a perfect storm about to smash into the higher education sector and everyone is thinking that if they just think happy thoughts it will all go back to what it was prior to Covid.

Good post. A lot of people want to carry on with things just as they are with less foreigners but everything has to change in every aspect of society. University should be for the necessary teaching the average mong can't keep up with. We shouldn't be sending down syndromes to college because it's the default path in life now. They engineered it to be a propaganda mill where the majority of students don't learn any useful job skills. Schools aren't much better as over the years the basic survival skills we used to have got cut. Go kids still do cooking classes? Swimming? I guess now it's just "learn computer and computer give you job". Which was being phased in when I was leaving school. Kids getting laptops and tablets to work on instead of notepads seems a good way to make education harder.

Just wait until the next lefty activist cause is #defunduniversitiesbecausesomethingsomethingwhitepeople

It'll happen eventually, the golem destroys everything its master created in the end.

She's marked on the council website as an Independent, which is hilarious to think that this idiot resigned from a party with the intent to join "Your Party" whenever they've decided on a name and actually registered with the Electoral Commission (if they're approved).
They should be registered already. The way politicians get funding and do/don't declare everything is murky enough already without pseudo political parties fundraising and operating outside the scope of the electoral commission too.

If the new party isn't called Jezbollah I'm going to be very disappointed.

Serious question, how would an average person find out where asylum protests are happening? Media only reports on them after the fact or if it is in the greater London area. Us northerners also hate immigrants, where is our heads up?

Use a VPN and look at twitter. Ignore Zigger and Indian based patriots posting videos from years ago or from other countries.

You’re better looking for fat Baz types posting videos rather than Special Branch honey pot accounts calling for direct action and trying to get you to follow to “organise.”

Lol I'm in the airport waiting for my flight to Bongland.

If you see me, don't phonebook me and I'll buy you a drink.
Oh goddamnit. So to start with, my travel agent had to set me up with an impossible itinerary.

I'm going to the norf, but there was no way I could've made my transfer between my flight to Atlanta and my flight to Manchester. After I missed my flight in Atlanta, the customer service people set me up on a flight to London (where I am now), and I've got a flight to Manchester later today.

I'm tired and hungry and I'm surrounded by British people and Pakis and Europeans and it's weirding me out.

I'm not doing well.

Jenrick says ISIS are coming on on small boats and the government response is to put a gag order on him. Don't tell the truth or you get punished.

Any one want to compare it to migrant locations?

Would be amazed if something didn't kick off in Nuneaton today given an Afghan, living in an HMO in the town, who has been identified as one of people living in same building as "coming here to work" (IE NOT A FUCKING ASYLUM SEEKER) raped a 12 year old and Warwickshire police TRIED TO HIDE IT FROM THE MEDIA.

If that doesn't boil your piss and make you want to at the very least be hostile to the invaders, then you should consider offing yourself.

Just a reminder to fellow Britbomgs that if Ofcom are keeping an eye on this website then you can guarantee Special Branch are.

Be careful with you personal details and do not advocate violence. Even with a VPN you will give them a reason to find you, and other jurisdictions will cooperate, if you are threatening violence.

Also, for the love of god, don’t go to any protests and be very suspicious of anyone who is trying to get you to go to one.

We are living in a police state but we are very fortunate that our police are really shit.

Violence is never defensible. I'm talking about serious stuff. Things like making people a brew but putting the milk in with the tea bag and then the hot water.

Only the worst people do that. Literally Hitler and all that.

The pendelino train from Euston to Manchester takes about 2 hours. It’s probably quicker and comfier than your wait.

Fuck off. We're full.
I've been coming to Bongland for years now. Spent Christmas here for the past few years, except last year. The norf is nice. Although I can't understand anything anyone says so I'm pretty helpless.

Though I'm walking around Heathrow right now and there's way too many burkas.

Tbf, I haven't been to NYC in a year or so so idk, maybe burkas are the hot item in NYC and I'm just unaware. Still, I can say things aren't this bad in DC.

Feels like Troubles 2.0 is upon you guys
It’s hard to get an accurate picture of what’s going on because our press are nothing but a neo-liberal propaganda machine that oscillates between coping to outright lying.

It’s hard to get a full picture online as there a ton of Russian, Chinese, and Iranian funded “based patriot accounts” coupled with Indians doing the needful for Tommy for a few advert rupees.

I can tell you for someone travelling around this country that we are a tinder keg of a very angry working class who feel forgotten and put upon.

My more middle class and “service sector” friends are in a massive cope. It’s not happening on their door step yet so they are sneering at the proles. They are fucking deluded.

I have a foot in both worlds and I’m terrified for the future. We’re just one major cultural enrichment event from a lot of Minecrafting happening in Minecraft.
