A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

They have a few weird quirks in their current algorithm (well family of them) I listen to a lot of Folk Metal and Neo-Pagan music but it get's classified as indy / folk music for some reason but it classifies anything under the latter that isn't label and as the same for recommendations so if I am listening to you-tube using a browser without some significant youtube plugins youtube will recommend me some utter shite by some gang from someplace in the states talking about bitches an hoes an making dolla

It fucking pisses me off because I'll be quite happily be working away on something in my zone but then get some American Ghetto sounds blasted at me. It would be bad enough but tolerable if they tried pushing some other genera of metal like that finishes something like Slayer or Metalica get's blasted but no they have to push the diversity... I've never willingly listened to Rap, or any other related genera never once looked up any names, songs or alike but they love trying to spam it to me.

Oh gosh yes you're right. On a positive note with Leeds there is an excellent concession stand at the station called Batchd which makes cakes and such. They do a spectacular kinder Bueno doughnut. But I can't think of anything else. The White Rose Centre is crap.

Oh actually the Royal Armouries museum is well worth a look. But that's it. Doughnuts and pewpew. What a line up.

One of the aforementioned scrotes here. It's not like I don't care, a white Britain would be an improvement in just about every way. I want to see my people thrive. Seeing parts of the countryside where white high-trust societies that have been maintained for god knows being destroyed in a decade or two by a horde of browns makes me see red.
It's just really hard to care about my best mate from high school Singh who's 3rd generation and works in STEM when the country is actively being raped by an unsustainable horde (which to be clear includes legals, I want a lot of them told to fuck off as well before closing the doors).

Maybe we can compromise and stop the rape first, and then we discuss making white Hyperborea?
 
Complete removal of the last 30 years worth across the board, followed by all remaining Pakistanis and Bangladeshis, then we can start winnowing the rest of the chaff.

Sorry man, you got filtered by the friend/enemy distinction. It happens to a lot of people don't be too hard on yourself. Reality is that you're falling for the basic problem of 'I can't make generalised statements because of outliers'. Singh has to go, he's actually part of the rape. It's not just that these people are criminal animals, it's that their presence in any large numbers creates the conditions for them to become criminal animals. If you let one or two in, no problem in theory; but it's always used as a wedge, and it always leads to more. The people who say otherwise are either retarded or malicious.

It's not a slippery slope, it's cause and effect.

The question of 'why don't we stop the rape hordes, and then discuss making our white country, which has always been fucking white and is our actual unironic homeland, exclusive for us, and doesn't need any foreigns for any reason.' Is also pretty simple: If we had the power to do one, we would have the power to do the other. Our government hates us and wants us all ground down to retarded slaves that never question anything. They aren't going to just let us turn off the spigot. It is, I am afraid, a case of all or nothing with these people. If we can't stop them all, then we're going to be stopping nothing.

Scotland used to have a lot of cheap houses in granny towns.. What do you think the government did with them?

The Sikhs don't like Muslims, and the first real hard hitting civ nattery came from the counter-jihad movement. It's a hold over from that. Also in general Sikhs aren't that bad as far as foreigns go. I had a few Sikh friends growing up, they were nice guys, dated a Sikh girl, nice girl, nice parents, very 'integrated.' In very small numbers they are model immigrants, but sadly the children of invaders don't stay children, and they will always have more in common with outsiders like them, than they will us. So they will inevitably agitate for them.
