A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Starmer has now announced a new national inquiry into rape gangs will be held.

And it will be insanely limp and not tell us anything we didn't already know
I finally succumbed to getting a VPN to circumvent the UK censorship of this website, so I could get to this thread to post about this.

The only reason the scumbag has announced the inquiry is because of the Casey Report that is coming out next week https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/35399301/casey-review-links-grooming-gangs-to-illegal-migration/.

He's announced the inquiry to get ahead of this being released. Not because it's the right to seek justice, just empty political maneuvering. You can't hate Keir Starmer or the government enough.

Nearly every strand of civil society, from social work to the police, from the NHS to the council, from the courts to charities, from the press to the government, worked in lockstep for over fitty years to keep this covered up.

Labour will be neck deep in this.

It's going to take A LOT of celebrities.

If Starmer was smart he'd give us what we all want and declare war on France to distract from this.
Knowing Starmer and current government, Starmer will hang it all on pakis, then step down and hand the leadership to a paki (Sadiq Khan) to punish us for hating pakis.
'Good afternoon and welcome to the Dead Celebs stakes, they're about to go into the paddocks so here's a list of the runners and riders in the 14:50 Jimmy Savile Memorial Trophy:

Evens 6/4 on for Ant & Dec
6s on Sam Smith
8/2 on Michael McIntyre
10/1 on Alan Carr
25/1 on Ru Paul, Graham Norton and Al C. O'Holic is BAR.'
It has to be someone people care about. kate maybe? (I hope it isn't).

Maybe a whitoid will be activated to shoot up an MP or mosque, paki hate will be blamed, we must come together, diversity is strength, don't look back in anger, open arms, don't be racist.

PJ and duncan
I CANNOT SEE!!! that happening. and nobody will care

https://youtube.com/watch?v=wmYotI01Eo4Sargon and his gruffnugs think Reform is going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I cannot help but half agree with them.
Sargoy don't get it, Niggel is a spiritual nigger alright but it don't matter I'm still voooting for his flying monkeys at each and every level cause it's not them I'm actually voting for.

I still like Carl and POTLE despite his personal dislike of Nigel (comes from when he could have been a UKIP MEP) and I'm for the movement first and the leader second.

Nige is a soggy centrist but what he *is* doing is moving the Overton window rightwards for the first time in decades.

I also feel like he is now riding the tiger of right wing populism and he is well aware that getting off or trying too hard to steer will both result in him getting eaten.

He’s got off the UKIP tiger and the Brexit Party tiger mid ride and each time he’s shot those tigers between the eyes and handed power back to neoliberals.

Call me a dooming faggot but islamists are centrist/right-wing and they're riding both sides; Labour and Reform with Lord ali and yamza ackbar respectively.

It won't be long until Arabic is seen alongside English signs on the roads and public transport.

"Respect Orders are now a thing in the cUK.

https://www.weightmans.com/media-centre/news/respect-orders-what-do-we-know/

Starmer is going to destroy you all and if you bitch the tiniest amount your going to jail. They don't even have to notify you know, they can make a order in court, not even tell you and then enforce it on you. And you better do as your told or it's jail time for you Mr White British.

"a respect order can be issued upon any action that might cause alarm or distress to another person"

Now any "anti-social behaviour" whether you did it or might do it in the future are now open to a Respect Order that can be issued against you by any court without you even knowing about it or defend yourself until after the PoPo show up at your door.

make a joke on Twatter? Jail time big boy
call a troon a man..oh you bet that's an Order
say there are too many immigrants coming in....oh boy that gonna be an Order
dare to suggest white replacement....your doomed sonny.

Cause "distress" to anyone (ie anyone whose not a cis white male) and your in shit.

You guys are soooo fucked, even if Starmer doesn't go whole hog with this you just know the next Lefty government will.

Get out while you still can.

Whilst I don't think he and his friends have colossal sway over the electorate/discourse, I hope they don't get to the point where they tell their audience to not vote for Reform (at least without offering a viable alternative), or even worse, tell people to vote Conservative again assuming Lowe joins them between now and 2029.

After the Online Safety Act, I've started being more incredulous to the exact reach, dimensions, and plausible capability of certain shit being carried out.

Aside from the fact this bill has yet to reach the commons floor (so anything therein is subject to change + years away from being enacted yet), I decided to give it a read for potential wiggle room. I did the same for the ninja sword ban and find a grievous hole in it (alongside Apple's encryption stuff) so it's possibly here as well.

My quick read of the relevant section (the bill also appears to have a crossbow ban within it too by the way by penalising the sale of them, but that's a whole other thing) I found something that potentially limits the potential ramifications of the bill. They appear, in a way, to allow landlords and such to enforce particular restrictions upon tenants if they're being "anti-social", avoiding direct confrontation perhaps?

1749932048554.webp

(So a random can't just do this, one of the "relevant authorities" has to be privy to and have a reason to pursue such an order)

(Housing management functions pertains to rent collection, repairs and maintenance, etcetera.)

(Seems to be something that'll gets used for domestic abusers, their victims, or people living in the residence that the owner doesn't approve of or want living there. Currently, in the UK, you can't legally remove the other person out of a co-habited home you have to make your case to the court, so in theory this'd allow the landlord or police to do so on your behalf or something but under the purview of a different order.)

1749931780698.webp

(The inclusion of transport bodies are "relevant authorities" makes me thing this is to enable buses to do something about """headphone dodgers""" — I'm also getting the impression that this is also, in effect, a way for the police to enact quasi-restraining orders on behalf of people or to completely bar certain people from getting on public transport, but how they'd enforce that I have no idea.)
1749932273498.webp

1749932383428.webp

(Applications made without notice have more hoops to jump through. The actual "respect order" won't be enacted until then.)
1749933084622.webp

(The "interim order" doesn't oblige the respondent (person being issued the order) to do anything)
1749932510689.webp
1749933301892.webp

(This reminds of the America's probation officer stuff. Section 1 (a) says doing something explicitly told not to is a breach but Section 1 (b) says obligations will only be punished if the person has been warned first and they do the violation again within a year of having received the warning.)
1749933599429.webp

("Risk Assessment" — I'm getting online safety bill flashbacks. So for any private individual this is already a pain in the ass. This alone might kill its effectiveness outright because 2(c) means you have to do literally anything else first before this order is applicable.)
1749934812010.webp

1749934917740.webp

(The "anti-social behaviour" is similar to the online safety act (which I think was a impotent attack on Apple and other "big" social media companies) that it's too broad and all-encompassing. Similar to the online safety act, I wonder if the actual intent is for it to be used one some specific case (removing unruly tenants) but written as having so much use and applicability that it appears more broad and substantive than it actually is. The power to pass these orders ultimately falls onto the court too, who can dismiss orders at their own discretion, and I think the risk assessment will become a big component on whether many if any such orders end up going ahead when this finally gets voted on. We also have yet to see how the Lords and other members of Commons will alter/amend this.)

We may not have much to be proud of these days, but by god we can do ceremonial parades better than the yanks. Never seen anything so tragic.
That's what happens when you spend more time practicing how to fight than how to look good. Maybe you guys should give it a shot. All those admirals have to be good for something, right?
