A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

They genuinely think we must not be allowed to see the below,
My conspiracy theorist mind sees it that the aim of the bastards that rule over us is never our own good but always their control over us.

So my assumption is with nanny state stuff like this that rather than protect what they view as our child-like state, the goal is rather to psychologically manipulate us so we see ourselves as child-like and incapable and needing the most obvious instruction for our own good because that is how pathetic we are.

Or in a few words, when we are subject to that, if we believe that it is necessary, then we become the thing that needs it.

There's certainly some use of that tactic out there. Maybe this is an example of that too. Though in this case I lean more towards the people in the ivory towers simply having that little opinion of us. I think they really do see people as just lumps of plastic moulded by the media and our betters without will or sentience. Perhaps when feeling magnanimous they allow the thought that we may have some dull glimmer of sentience, akin to a cow or other biddable beast.

tbh that fits as well. Perhaps that is their motivation. And then what I suggested is the outcome, and so their view becomes self-fulfilling. It is like with very young children. They start acting in the role they are given. White people's role has become useless NPC retards, and so that is what the masses are starting to act as if they are.

Oh, don't take my post as saying what you said isn't used as well. And as to schools, one thing I noticed very prominently is that they crack down on you taking justice or morality into your own hands like almost nothing else. If a kid punches you and you punch him back, you get in as much trouble as he does. If a kid punches your friend and you deal with it on their behalf you get in even more trouble. They want very much to teach that all justice comes from the State authority figure. If you suffer any wrong you must never seek to fix it yourself, you must petition the authority figure to enact justice on your behalf.

There's a secret crime worse even than opposing authority, which is to not need authority. After all, to oppose authority is to at least still believes authority is in charge, and that even if you want it to behave differently or take the top seat yourself, the system persists. But to simply be able to function without it? Nothing is more abhorrent to them.

The irony is that this sort of thing was fine years ago:

I have seen the Twix advert, and will now do 120 in a school area, and shoot down pedestrians in a drive by.
Couldn't be more proud of you!

Don't forget to swig a bottle of Scotch whilst blasting out 'So Fuckin' What' at the same time.

I'm very tempted to tag Null and let him know that amongst all his other crimes as far as the British Government are concerned, he is now hosting illegal Twix adverts. Except I know he doesn't like being tagged. Still...

Reading a story earlier about some bint and her BF who got arrested for smuggling drugs into fucking Bali, and are potentially facing the death penalty and all I can say is, good:
Capture.webp
Either you were dumb enough to deliberately take the drugs to a place that famously has the death penalty for drug smuggling, or you were dumb enough to believe a clearly bullshit story from your "friend". Either way you're dumb enough that the world is better off without you.

I got bullied by a few kids at school. I was really tiny, and dorky and I bet I was really bloody annoying as well. Physical bullying, which hurt, I wouldn’t have been too fussed about name calling but I’d copped a bit of a beating and I didn’t like that.
Anyway I told the teachers and it only got worse, and I got told off too! And so one day I simply did an incredibly violent thing to the ringleader when he wasn’t expecting it, and then denied all knowledge when he ran to tell. The bullying stopped immediately and never started again. i told my dad, he said well done. The whole episode was an eye opener that the adults who were supposed to fix the problem made it worse and the problem only stopped when I made myself too risky a target.

Various times I’m gotten myself into trouble are interesting seen through this lens. I suspect this part of the population is the bit that kohlberg’s later stages of morality talks about. I don’t need anyone looking at me or threatening me to behave. I behave because it’s ’right.’ I wouldn’t steal or hurt people even if i never got caught or if there was no God in heaven. Wrongness doesn’t come from the law, the law should flow from morality. Here starmer and I are diametrically opposed. He believes a thing is right becasue the law says it is. I believe people can have moral compasses that are independent of law and that just and unjusts law exists.
The flip side of that is that I’ll cheerfully ignore any law I believe is immoral if I need to.
I swear every day here is a philosophical exercise. You chaps really make me think

I'm still recovering from injuries after seeing the levi's advert and attempting to run through a wall. I wish they would have banned it to keep me safe.

Soooo it's all kicking off in Larne eh?

Good on them. Burn the fuckers out and send them back to whence they fucking came. Say it loud, say it clear- rapefugees not welcome here.

Looks like Clive Lewis finally grew a set of balls...

If a Woke MP like him is beginning to think 'err hold on, the Government's plans are going to impact on things which I like and will see me lynched by the electorate' then maybe the push back is beginning and should somebody like Lewis rebel against Starmer it'll be interesting to see how many more do.

Labour are also being sued by some householders in the Norfolk area who've been told their homes will be compulsory purchased in order to make way for solar farms.

This is at the same time that solar panel 'experts' are advising against building solar farms on land and instead demanding that new builds have them installed on their roofs (not a bad idea), and farm owners only have a few panels over irrigation canals to help water evaporation which can also then keep the panels cool during summertime when temperatures get above 25 degrees Celsius.

The 'experts' are seeing the the tide is turning against 'going green' and are at last beginning to think 'maybe if we don't piss people off and alienate them, they'll be more on board with what we want...'
