A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I know someone whose family home got taken for HS2, for a stretch that will likely never be built. They’d spent years doing it up and were happy there. It’s really hit them

Its things like that, or other incidents that directly or in proximity hit you that really turn people to the truth that you have no rights at all. People get their lives fucking ruined and they have no recourse at all, they just have to accept it, smile, and pretend they do not want to start murdering people.

Also, the home will have been purchased so they’re not entitled to have them back.
Is it accurate to call it a 'purchase' when one party had absolutely no intention of selling their property and had no say in the amount it was to be sold for? That sounds a bit like something else to me.

You could argue that it's technically a purchase in the purely mechanical sense that property was exchanged for money, but I wouldn't call it a legitimate transaction when the seller effectively had a gun to their head.

I've been bringing this family's struggles up to people since most are unaware of the fact that the government can force you to sell your inherited family road for a new road.

Contemptuous and in any normal country, a man would be able to defend his ancestral land with a weapon when the g-men come.

A random bureaucrat or Zippy from Rainbow in Downing Street can just remove your ability to exist so simply.

This is the simply a necessary evil in a modern society. It's somewhat lamentable, however, the government needs to have the ability to complete civil infrastructure projects as our modern society is heavily reliant this for growth. There is an overwhelming public benefit to be gained from compulsory purchase orders.

Without these orders the government would struggle to complete even basic projects, as the government could be held to ransom by private landowners refusing to sell, leading to significant cost increases. Further, the current legislative hurdles offer sufficient protections to individuals, fair market compensation, and can be legally challenged, meaning it isn't an arbitrary decision by bureaucrats to screw over individuals.

The real issue is the UK's inability to complete even basic projects, as we have legislated ourselves into a bureaucratic hell hole, meaning that 50 trillion committee stages and assessments need to be carried out before any workers can strike ground.

Also, in the UK none of us actually own any land, it is all property of the crown and a freehold only amounts to an allowance from the King for you to use that land. You're legally a little subject whether you like it or not.

They struggle to complete basic projects even with these orders.

If I saw any actual benefit or gain from these projects that aren't just multiple-year long construction projects (which, by the way, permanently change speed limits on motorways since it's easier to just reduce the speed permanently than replace the road signs whenever they get blown over), then I might be able to stomach sacrificing a family's entire rightful home on the altar of progression which just results in trains that can go a bit quicker.

Yvette Cooper slams Sadiq Khan over drug legalisation, whilst Zia Yusuf likens Labour to North Korea.
When I'm Prime Minister I'm enforcing the Singapore approach. Get caught smoking weed? Enjoy panicking in prison for the next year and a half while we clear out the crane backlog.

Just think how many unproductive dole dossers, reddit users, perpetual PIP users and People of Boat we could get rid of by just making drug use enforceable by capital punishment. Sure we'd lose some high productivity folk who require coke to get through their finance job but the ends would justify the means.

Hello everyone, I am Mound dweller, and I am a DM invasion survivor.
How many of us are there?
I felt sorry for the guy initially but despite being on a celebrity gossip forum he decided to start behave the same way as most of the people who get gossiped about. I know a few people ITT have mentioned receiving an abundance of DMs from him.
He's exceptionally unrepentant so I don't really feel sorry for him, very queef stomper esque in that regard.

Just in case anyone actually felt sorry for him; he is literally down tha station informin' tha constabulary roight naow, consequences will never be the same!
Glad you're in Australia, thanks for the threat, added that to the Cybercrime report.
I'm actually inside the station right now. But there's a long queue of sandniggers infront of me, so I should just give up.
Honestly contemplable, anyone who reads this thread has no excuse not to do better than this.

I guess this sums up the British electorate, a faggot takes up the news more than other international affairs.
If you wanted to be fucked in the ass so bad then go join the young conservatives and stop shitting up my mumsnet alternative with your faggotry.
