A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

What is weird is they have t came out and said “nothing to do with terrorism” as they usually do this as soon as as possible and even prior to a press conference, even when anyone with eyes can see it’s terrorism.

Something doesn’t smell right about this.

They keep repeating this line "53 year old man arrested", without saying he is the driver, without saying he is connected to the driver. He could be, as it's worded, a random fella pissing in the street who was arrested, or more likely, the fella who was pepper-sprayed on the floor.

This won't be the event that kicks off a riot though.

If a rent boy setting fire to the front door of Starmer's 2nd home is terrorism then this certainly is too.

Please, tell me more. I love a caterham. Very beautiful cars.
If you’re not being ironic it’s because they were kit cars based on (normally) a ford sierra/cossie. With that much modification the dvla classes it as a new vehicle and replaced the number plate with a reg starting with Q then 3 numbers then 3 letters.
Q meant a vehicle that was so modified it was classed as a new vehicle the criteria was points based with different amounts for each area changed (chassis, engine, suspension).

I was being genuine. Thank you for the explanation, fellow car autist.
I heard that some people slammed Honda engines in some Caterhams. When I'm a bitter old fuck, I'm going to build a Caterham.

The fact that I find out this by just chance makes it suspicious. Considering the usual accounts aren't sperging means, to me, that they aren't sure the driver isn't white. But media being so quiet also means they aren't sure either.

Schroedinger's criminal.

Zero running total of casualties in the media. Nothing. This isn’t normal. Usually they’d have reports from local hospitals.

This is really weird. It could be just a retard who had a few drinks but they’re making this Southport levels of weird.

The Manchester bombing was similar. No casualty count. Not even a confirmation that it was a bomb (just an 'incident' at Manchester Arena). And then a press release saying it was a bomb and that 20~ were dead.

Even if the perpetrator is, as the media is suggesting, a White English man perhaps driven by a drug fuelled psychotic road rage, it seems appropriate that it would happen the day after the "bread and circus" EPL ends during the very celebration for winning the league. Right at the end of May as the weather warms up. I try not to be overly plugged in but I've heard suggestions that this could be a summer of discontent, if so it would be foreboding.

The Abdhuls and aging hippies of the country will of course smugly point out how the dumb Reform voters were wrong to assume it would be another Islamic or African terror attack. Because of course they will say, White men are the ones actually committing such offences it is just some sort of confirmation bias that you would think otherwise. And here we even have a scientific study that agrees with us. You are just stupid little bigots for thinking that terror attacks correlate with foreigners. Shame on you.

If there were to be a summer of protests, riots, violence and terrorism it could now be something they will point to. You were wrong then, naturally you are wrong now. And even if you aren't wrong this time we have an example of you being wrong. And if you are causing trouble and are wrong? Well all we can do is clamp down on you as hard as possible until you stop being wrong.

It's very convenient for a talking point and also very convenient that all we have is the word of the Police and a few blurry frames. You would think with all the footage floating about someone would have pictured the attacker as the Police brought them to a van. They were also very quick to release details about the attacker.

I don't actually think it's a false flag or planned or anything like that, sometimes things that are inconvenient for one narrative or another must really happen. And it is a bit depressing to even be thinking about narratives or scoring points when people are dead and injured, something of course that both sides do every time. But it does feel a bit like one.

Footage of the moment the driver is somehow bundled into the police van alive.
Is the bloke on the floor who got pepper-sprayed the arrested 53 year old?
