A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

In a post up thread someone shared screen caps from Twitter about the benefits cuts,of various people gobbing off about them. One of them had a reply from a man called Tim Boxall. Tim is a lolcow in his own right. He lives in a town called Worthing in West Sussex.

Tim does indeed have a range of health issues which are unfortunate, however he is very active in the local cosplay and fetish scene and his disabilities do nothing to stymie this or hamper his social life.

Nearly everyone has health issues or problems or concerns. Some serious and life changing, others minor but still frustrating.

What I am sick to the back teeth of seeing is people who have full, active social lives with no impediment caused by their health issues but as soon as work and gainful employment is mentioned then they are The Sickest Sick Person Ever , FOREVER.

People like that deserve to lose their fun pennies and means to go out and have a better social life than those of us who also have issues, who go to work and pay tax and NI, are funding.

If you can assemble a complex costume that incorporates your wheelchair into your chosen character and costume then you can do something, fucking anything to contribute to your community and wider society.

Fuck grifting shitheads like Tim,moreso because he also has spare money to give to other grifters online. How dare he plead poverty.

PIP freezes now cancelled. PIP just going to be harder to claim from now on basically. £5 billion saved by 2030. How much do we spend a year on the new arrivals again?

The spin is now that people have “blown it out of proportion for the last few days” but it’s obviously a whopper of a u-turn there.

edit: I got a zero in there that shouldn't have been there. I was wrong anyway even without it.

Around 5Bn.

Possible van of peace in London. They say it's not terror related, which has always been a true statement and never a lie before.

Tbh the cuts were OK, they were heavily watered down though. They can scream about face to face assessments but any staff in the DWP will tell you there are not the staff numbers and contracts are too expensive. NEETS on Twitter are screaming but these changes actually help those with congenital, sustained disabilities. I have a funny feeling that Streeting was involved in this as it seems a very logical set of changes.

That backbench rebellion is still coming Starmer is over Ukraine now though.

Helen Whatley is screaming they didn't go far enough, which tbh is a mental look considering this set of cuts go further than any in the previous decade. You will notice they are sawing off the health component of UC at the knees for anyone under 22, which is going to make lots of parents of 'muh AuDHD' and "muh verra anxious" dumplings well pissed off when they try to sign on. The young folk are to be made to try getting a fucking job rather than going directly onto the sick. This is an excellent plan.

I agreed with their plan to increase unemployment benefit. Agreeing with Labour was not on my list for this year but here we are I guess

I know right, Is that that stipend which is higher if you are looking and decreases if not? I am surprised talked to a few disabled people and they are like it's fine. From what I have seen it's mostly people with mental health affected.

🌈Maybe Starmer will pull his thumb out and actually start sending illegals home again.🌈

It's not like that at present. It's more,if they don't think you're looking for work hard enough they sanction your benefits so you get a reduced amount.

When did the UK become such a muslim hellhole?
There is a novel by Anthony Burgess titled 1985, written in '78, where Muslims run counter action against the failing state (mostly to do with Union strikes). They have a front called Free Britons, which takes native English anger and covertly repurposes them for Muslims goals. By the end of the novel, it is clear Islamification has been going steady in the country for some time.

Before that Chesterton wrote The Flying Inn, a novel with similar themes.

These are currents that have been stewing for centuries.

Rene Guenon, the traditionalist philosopher and a chief influence to our current King (this should be known far more than it is), was a convert to Islam. The reason why was because Islam was compatible with his Christian upbringing, far more than Hinduism, the religion he was most interested in. It is the same for us. Hinduism will never catch on here, Christianity has left too much of a mark; but Islam, with its monotheism and moral laws, makes far more sense to us.

I have met a few Muslims who are relaxed and carefree. That matters little. Religion is a concern for outsiders and a dedicated few, but they are the ones who enact the change. America was built by a disgruntled few. The USSR was founded by a small group of true believers.

Islam is puritanical and evangelical, two mindsets that appeal to the worst instincts in English people (read Maugham's ‘Rain’ and tell me you do not see people like Davidson daily). Of all European countries, save for maybe Germany, we are the most primed for Islamification. It gives good moral backing to be a busy body; the same people who clapped for the NHS and harassed you for not wearing a mask, are Islam's target demographic. Islam has a brutish and simple theology, and people like easy answers. It will thrive in economic collapse where a desperation for meaning is at its highest. Imagine an Islamic foodbank, an Islamic charity. You can win a hungry person’s mind just by feeding them. What if it is socially profitable to convert to Islam? You do not even have to enforce that one. If you live in a community where Islam is the norm, why wouldn’t you convert? Many people did the same when the Church of England was at its height.

Powell’s Rivers of Blood speech was wrong: Blacks may commit more crime on average and make old ladies unsafe- that is its own issue. Islam is the one with the ability to obtain the whip hand over the English. It is an institutional religion. It has tradition.

Just reading a summary, it sounds like this guy was a prophet, especially with the arabs owning half of london and mosques everywhere, which most people would have seen as laughable in the mid 70s. The only part he got wrong was the timeline.

When did the UK become such a muslim hellhole? Im trying my hardest to think back but it appears recently that the UK has “secret” sand nigger overlords.
It's a tipping point sort of thing, starting from the post 60's influx when various governments dumped little spore bundles on us the mycelial flourishing came into full bloom circa end of the 80s-start of the millennium depending on where you lived. Progressing to full rot from there on, the exact timing is a spectrum.
The Lordship stage isn't yet properly begun, that's the current oncoming scenario, previously no gone zones/groomer gangs and the like were the "that never happens shut up raycist" and the natural progression of that won't be muzzie PM (that comes after) but some sort of popular front style deal with the Corybn/Galloway types. The mudslimes are just one hydra head.
