A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

This is the most horrifying idea. Civil servants may be bad, but they can at least be reasoned with, and are capable of flexibility in the right circumstances; you can appeal to ego as a last resort. An automated system will be exponentially worse than the worst jumped up department sub-manager, because it will have no latitude. The rules will be followed to the letter. Go away and die now.
Just Waluigi it up. Far easier to negotiate than flesh and blood.

From what I found it was indeed the current KC Jonathon Hall, as for U-Turn, he keeps recanting on it. So originally it was going to be announced on Tuesday, then Thursday and now to later in the month. Starmer is trying to win small victories now to garner public approval (lol, I know) by axing thousands of jobs in the already starved market. I don't know what this retards plan is because it makes no fucking sense.

Oh also to prove the Home Office totally is not compromised, there has been a surge in the abuse of "skilled workers"

At this point, we have a scandal a day now but Kier was like "We must stop the scandals" Well gratz Kier your party is probably more corrupt than Boris' and he's a twat. You can tell he is panicking too because he is speeding stuff out because he knows the knives are being sharpened.

As for the AI stuff, it is pure retardation because of that principle, the notion of it not being tested and implemented in central government is fucking insane. You may as well hand over the keys at that point also AI is quite far from what they want. They are going to pour billions into it and not get the results they want because it is far from what they want. These retards just instantly think of Skynet and that AI is like Skynet not realizing it takes decades to get to that point.

Yeah, I think May too, I think the local elections will slaughter them. I know some were cancelled (we know why Angela we aren't retarded like you or your spawn). It will spook the fuck out of the backbenchers and they will start scheming. I would not be surprised if there is already a plot waiting in the wings since Angela is doing a lot more public stuff to position herself. I did originally think it was going to be Rayner and Cooper but I think it is going to be Streeting and Rayner and both seem to be doing things to undermine him. I would not be surprised if it's Cooper too though, the Home Office is sat on a trove of skeletons that they can pin on Starmer. I think Trump is going to exert a lot of pressure now too with Musk sowing seeds in the online space.

Mark my words he is going to get Thatchered and he knows it.

The NHS cuts is working on some of the easily lead, because they are throwing around words like “ending bureaucracy” in the NHS and “The renationalising of the NHS” as if government lead NHS Wales & the Scottish NHS hasn’t been ran into the ground.

NHS England should probably have never been made in 2012 by Cameron but the damage is already done. A lot of these job cuts are admin staff. So people are automatically thinking well at least it’s not clinical staff.!! They’ve already reduce this workforce (If I recall, by 20%) during the merger. They did do some stupid shit like reassign people too expensive to make redundant to other roles they are not qualified to do. Will be good if you can get rid of some of this middle management bloat.

There is upper management wasting everyone’s time with pointless meetings. If that goes, then great. But there’s a justification for some of the admin staff. If you hand back the admin to clinical staff. Then they now have to have more paper work on their own reduced force. There is some old school doctors and nurses lapping this up because NHS England has been a shit show. They are naive to think they are going to really reduce the red tape. Starmer is not the answer to fix this. It’s only going to get worse from here.

To be fair, I'm more or less resigned to here now being a third world "If the United Nations was made by Wish" LARPing as a state.

I just want this cunt out, and am at the point I really don't care who replaces him. I don't think there is a single politician in the house, Gaza stans and SNP included, who could do a worse job than the current cabinet.
Pretty sure we all thought that about Sturgeon...
(Be sure to open that video in YouTube proper to see the comments.)

NHS England doesn't do any clinical admin whatsoever. Clinical admin, hospital secretaries and that, is paid for by the NHS local trusts, same as the clinicians. NHS England spends most of its time and energy on policy development for ten year old pooners, advertising PrEP for chemsex and the 'zero viral load' psyop, and other absolutely worthless shit, and got caught holding its dick impotently when the pandemic hit and its 'centralised points of control' turned out to be absolute bullshit. NHS England basically does the job of the old Department of Health, but with thousands extra jobs and at arm's length so central govt could point the finger of blame at someone else round about the election cycle. I deal with these people professionally. You could not exaggerate the amount of absolutely fuck all they contribute to the health, wellbeing of this country. Scotland and Wales are equally bad, but at least they don't have a further national tier of useless eaters over and above the useless eaters the trusts/regional boards themselves employ.

I need the NHS to keep going so when I'm in the UK my private insurance hospitals don't get filled up with riffraff.
Too late.
Boat-niggers and infinitipakis are now being referred to private clinics to help ease the burden of the NHS. I have been sat in a private waiting room when a group of mangled boatwogs shuffled in, interpreter-in-toe, to explain why these troglodytes needed help.

Personally, I would have prescribed a visit back to whichever shithole they came from via catapult.-

I think the abolishment of NHS England could be a good thing. I don't need a GP to tell me to go see a Dr to tell me I need to see a specialist to tell me I have the wrong specialist who then informs me I need physiotherapy.

They aren't abolishing the local NHS trusts who fund and provide care. Nothing about how you as a patient access the NHS will change. The menopause awareness outreach communications team will be looking for a new job though.

Omg same with dentistry. And *then* if you tell your MP you know about it they get mega defensive and try and say "migrants aren't being given private healthcare they're actually refugees" and they really, really don't like it if you tell them there are no refugees on this island, they're all migrants.

I dislike the tories as much as labour but at least I felt I could get a straight answer from my former Tory MP. With labour there's the party line and God help you if you challenge it.

It’s just like the lead up to the seventies discontent. Except instead of cohesive communities now we have millions of hostile invaders . We are screwed

That and a large swathe of the native population who hate themselves so turn their hatred onto hating their own,and worshipping the invaders.

Dunno about you frendo but I am not my usual chipper self today and optimism isn't coming easy. The last few years have turned majority of the electorate into absolute gigatards.

Yeah leave Shetland alone. They’re full.

I feel very much down about the current state of the world and quite maudlin. I see no bright future, only a slide into totalitarianism, lack of freedom, and general horror . Also my cat is on his last legs and I’m sad about that too.
