A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Imagine being libtard media and praising a 0.1% growth and still not getting the story correct. The 0.1% is a projection from the OBR and could also be a -0.1%. They still have to go through spending to get the true figure. Its funny how the BBC redacted the OBR saying Rachel from accounts has no financial headroom and is creating a financial black hole but pop off sis.


I am loving the Telegraph at the moment as they just outright hate her.

Also like her financial acumen her taste in art is utter shit as she has removed some prized art of great leaders from Number 11. Three of them are a portrait of Winston Churchill's mother Lady Randolph Churchill, the bust of Disraeli, and a stunning portrait of Charles I. She has swapped them with Covid-inspired paintings (the fuck).


I don't know Rachel was it the fact that your conscience was eating away at you being surrounded by actually inspirational people because you are a LYING, DECEITFUL BITCH!! Lady Randolph was inspirational to Churchill because she built him politically to the person he was, without her we probably would have had a very different man. I am biased because Churchill was so wonderful (he loved animals too) erasure of his kindness and charm is sickening.

Kier Starmer, man of the people, was forced to abandon planned activities and evacuate by helicopter today when a farmers' protest in Buckinghamshire aggressed upon him by tooting their horns and asking him to talk to them.

(What the hell is the song the tractor horns are playing? I feel like I've heard it a million times but can't place it)

I know right? It's a social housing place and they're like hens teeth. Very cheap rent. Their saving grace is that a lot of them are solid built, cheap to heat and maintaince is taken care of for you.

Nice to see a shitskin being such a a fine, upstanding citizen. I'd be willing to bet he doesn't work as well and is on benefits. So as well as getting the place paid for via benefits, he would be getting 12k per Anum on top.

Can you confirm the source for this ? Has it been reported in the press ? Has this person been reported to the housing association ( is that the correct authority - you'll have to excuse my ignorance of the benefits system - never really used them ) ? I don't normally believe in people being dobbed in to the authorities, but in this case, I think an exception is in order.
I don't doubt the credability of this, it's just I would have thought GB News, for example, would be all over it. This is the sort of thing that really boils my piss. Wonder how many English ex-soldiers will be sleeping rough tonight......

The source is an advert posted online sent to me by a friend who lives nearby. She was complaining about the man in question.
As for whether or not he's on benefits, total speculation on my end but it's a known fact these vermin come here and expect to never work, ever.

Genuinely not sure if it's been reported to anyone or not as it's a minor local kerfuffle but I share your sentiments about grassing people up, however social housing is scarce. As you rightly say, how many ex servicemen are sleeping rough tonight?

Perhaps this man was born in the UK. It's possible. However to be given a special housing resource, then sublet it to make a profit and put a picture of your face on the advert is really, really stupid behavior, and we all know people coming to this country from these shit holes are known for being extremely dumb.

Some types of lawbreaking are less bad but this sort of thing is gross.
