A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

So essentially anyone who criticises Muslims in anyway they are going after. Even the Hindus. I’ve worked in Leicester, the Muslims are awful to the Hindus and Sikhs. But of course the poor Muslims. Funny they don’t mention in that article that the 2022 scrap was about cricket lol.
Muslims treat Sikhs probably the worst of the lot besides whites. The rape gangs also targeted Sikhs as well to a lesser extent and tried to forcibly convert them to Islam, typically by raping and beating them. This isn't even really a new thing either since there's video from the 1980's from some news report were the Sikhs are kicking off about the Muslims moving in and raping their daughters (if I find the report I'll link it).

Islam is the most incompatible religion on the planet and has achieved nothing in it's entire history.

It did. They collapsed the one of the two great empires of late antiquity and nearly managed to collapse the other as well.

The world probably never recovered from that.

Wasn't the Baghdad house of wisdom the work of Muslims?
There's no evidence such a place even existed. It may be a mistranslation or misunderstanding of a more general movement within the so-called islamic golden age, rather than a single, specialised location. The islamic golden age itself was largely the work of syrian and chaldean christians translating texts to arabic at the behest of an unusually liberal caliph, who ignored most of the dictates of the quran and was not a particularly pious muslim. He would be called heretical today.

Hindu nationalist extremism is an extremist ideology that advocates for Hindu supremacy and seeks to transform India into an ethno-religious Hindu state.

I'm all too familiar with this "Hindu Extremism". It was only last week that Mr. Gupta from down the way ran about the town square stabbing children and yelling "hail Brahma" or whatever before exploding. Mrs. Gupta was not best pleased; He had taken her best carving knife.

Something ought to be done about these people, it's getting to the point that one can scarcely turn a corner in this country without running into a statue of one of their many gods. (Why do they need so many, anyway? Greedy bastards...)

Children raped and abused in hotels, police data suggests

What to look out for

The perpetrator might:
• insist on paying cash
• be reticent to provide any ID
• specifically request an isolated room
• specifically request a double room
• make clear there are no familial links between the pair, if asked

The child may:
• look unhappy and nervous
• consistently defer to the adult to answer on their behalf
• fail to engage
• show no identification
The latest figures reveal 26% of victims in the 504 reported offences were aged 15, 18% were aged 16, and 17% were aged 17. Almost all suspects (92%) were men, and the average age of suspects was 28. The victims were predominantly female (84%).
Not one mention of ethnicity in the article. Strange that.

Was about to post it. The most bizarre thing is they pulled him over after he went to the USA but not after he went to Afghanistan.

What a joke of a country Jesus. "No right to silence, no right to a lawyer" fucking hell.

Been calling this for a while that the Lotus eater lot were going to be next (yes I know he left). Their going to make their way down the list of online personality's who speak out against them and Calum must have been next. Can't wait until they try arrest Sargon on something.

It will be used against you in every legal system.
Yes but not to the fully-legal totally-legitimate state-sectioned extent it is in the UK
You know that famous screed US cops give "you have the right to remain silent"? It's a cornerstone of their legal system, you don't have to say anything and it's on the system to incriminate you, always very amusing when urbanoids here who call coppers feds and think they have conditional rights try and pull that one.
Bongcops do have a similar line but with a big fat BUT in it; "you do not have to say anything. But, it may harm your defence if you do not mention something which you later rely on in court". If you don't explain yourself this can be interpreted by the court however they feel like it. You have the right to remain silent yes but no right to not have it used against you.

Not one mention of ethnicity in the article. Strange that.
Of the 504 offences recorded in hotels in 2023, 92% (464) involved physical contact with a child, while 40% (203) were recorded as rape.
It might not mention the ethnicity but for fun ask the average person what's being used to house migrants.
When they say "hotels" then mention this article.

I mean you have those rights but how you doing that with no phone at probably a stupid hour?
You have a right to phone the duty solicitor. Who is on a fixed price, and depends on the good will of the Police, CPS and Courts.

All those guys that pled guilty over the Southport Protests. That was courtesy of the nations 'duty solicitors'.

Bongcops do have a similar line but with a big fat BUT in it; "you do not have to say anything. But, it may harm your defence if you do not mention something which you later rely on in court". If you don't explain yourself this can be interpreted by the court however they feel like it. You have the right to remain silent yes but no right to not have it usedT
That was the original intention. That it simply allowed the court to consider that you chose to remain silent. Instead what happened is that the Judges had a chat over various dinner parties in North London, and decided that they could instruct the jury to ignore any evidence offered by 'certain' defendents if they didn't immediately mention it when questioned.

Courts don't even allow you to refuse to make questions untill you have a solicitor of your choice.

I just started watching them. I don’t get much new information out of them, but they’re pretty cozy to listen to. I hope they don’t all get arrested for saying raping kids is bad.

No, you don't have those rights if arrested under counter terrorism laws. You don't really have the right to silence in general as your silence can and will be used against you in the UK legal system.
There are actually a good view contexts in the UK where various levels of official, from a cop upwards, can compel you to provide an answer. The pin code for your phone for instance.

Not with force, but its a crime to fail to provide them with a suitable, truthful, answer and you'll get an automatic sentence for it.
