A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Labour is going to scrap voter ID. They're setting up a parliamentary review (sort of like one of those things that would unnecessarily delay legislation and cause no end of problems when it's about nonces) to assess whether and how to end the requirement to prove that you're eligible to vote in a general election.

Can you guess what one of the first things he did was?
Just a hunch, but I'm starting to think he may have an issue with poor impulse control.

Of fucking course they are. A terrible idea suggested by the SNP, why wouldn't they do it?

I can’t work out whether Ivor Caplin is incredibly stupid or breathtakingly shameless.
I think it's a bit of both. He's known in the area for being a skeevy bastard plus the gay community have been told for years to be "proud" of themselves and their proclivities.

He has absolutely no shame whatsoever and clearly doesn't understand, whether intentionally or because he's just a plain idiot, how this looks.

Labour facilitates Muslim voter fraud -> Larger Labour vote -> Labour covers up paedophile rape gangs -> Labour Defends Muslims' way of life -> More illegal Muslims arrive to enjoy 'lifestyle' -> Labour's position consolidated by illegal vote -> Derka Derka Mohammed Jihad Britain becomes a Sharia State.

Between Labour being awfully pro Muslim, supporting cousin fucking, covering up Muslims rape gangs and having many of it's own members be caught in many acts of Nouncery. Labour is shaping up to be a very proud and haram Muslim party.

All of this, and yet we all know that it will barely make the slightest bit of difference, and the Muslims will split off into their own parties and independent MPs because Labour didn't do something like make TJD and TWD official party policy.

They already do. Which is why this is dumb. They already need the same info you use for voting to collect benefits. It’s the same fucking number. All of the systems work on that fact.
And postal votes enable this further. Multi generation household filled with over 18 year old inbred retards? Head of household fills out postal ballots for everyone there for whoever the local Imam has told them to vote for.

Point was, to look after everyone they are already registered to vote. So there is no reason to get rid of vote id. They all have it. Which means they are probably doing this to go after everything else attached to your NID and vote id is just the vector.

As is I don’t care that an entire house votes for who their imam tells them. That is not an issue with Mail ID. That’s an issue with them being here.

All should be sent back.

the Lords of the Treasury who aren't lords anymore, and two are now just additional titles for the prime minister and another cabinet minister, making the organization unnecessary now but you can't get rid of titles because then there won't be enough for everyone.
Because the British constitution is old, and there's so much legislation that it's not trivial to just abolish posts. Modern Acts get round this a bit by saying "the Secretary of State", without specifying which Secretary of State.

There was a medieval post of the Lord High Treasurer, which was essentially like the Chancellor of the Exchequer. This is now "in commission", meaning that its powers are exercised by multiple people: the First Lord of the Treasury, the Second Lord of the Treasury, and so on. The First Lord of the Treasury is a synonym for the Prime Minister, the Second Lord for the Chancellor, and the others are usually whips.
So if you were to find a Tudor law that said something like "it pleaseth the King that ye olde Lord High Treasurer may do such-and-such", it actually means the PM or Chancellor.

And I agree with you. Though I genuinely don't understand what it will take for people to start to realise that this is the only possible solution.

Man, and I thought the US legal system needed a spring cleaning. Damn shame nobody there can be trusted to not fuck things up even worse than they already are.

I think they're going to "compromise" by introducing a biometric national id system with a big juicy database, require that for voting, and then also require it for using internet services, "for the children". No more anonymous shitposting.

when we start remigrations under Fürher Farage the fuckwit filming this video can be sent to pakistan with all of the other retards.

Looks like our MPs can punch people on the street and not be immediately jailed, but say hurty words on X, do not pass go.....

MP Mike Amesbury has admitted assault by beating after a video emerged showing him punching a man to the ground in his Cheshire constituency.

Amesbury, who represents Runcorn and Helsby, pleaded guilty to assaulting the 45-year-old Paul Fellows at Chester Magistrates' Court.

She said: "At one point Mr Fellows started to walk away but was re-engaged by Mr Amesbury."

Amesbury, 55, was then heard to say "what" a few times before shouting it, the court heard.

Ms Storey said Mr Fellows put his hands in his pockets and turned towards the taxi queue but, when he turned back, Amesbury punched him to the head, knocking him to the ground.

He followed him on to the road after he fell and started to punch him again at least five times, she said.

Amesbury, who now sits as an independent MP, won his seat at the general election in July with a majority of 14,696.

He had served under Labour since 2017 and was a shadow minister between 2018 and 2024. He was previously a local councillor in Manchester.

District Judge, good ol' English boy, Tanveer Ikram said the guidelines suggested a sentence starting point of a "high level community order or a range up to a prison sentence".

Amesbury was granted bail to return for sentencing on 24 February.

So.....write truthful words on X that don't follow our totalitarian government's agenda - go to jail immediately.
Be a sitting MP, assualt a member of the public on the street, knock him to the ground, keep hitting him and this is all caught on camera - wait 3 months to plead on bail, plead guilty as absolutely bang to rights, get bail before being sentenced a month later. The District Judge has already left it open that he might not get banged away - a violent criminal that is clearly a danger to the public. Say something to him he doesn't like and he'll attack you.
But there is absolutely no way whatsoever that this country operates a two tier justice system.
