A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Also, I may be wrong on this (so call me a retard if so) but I think the kebab story is an urban legend.
It’s true. I wont call you a retard because any normal human would be so horrified by this they’d want to believe it wasn’t true, but it is. Her name was Charlene Downes.
Ignorant Amerimutt here.

Why is it that every MP in Britain is hellbent on preventing the rape gang investigation? Is it just to cover their own asses or do they actually believe the findings of such a report will start a riot?
Multiple things;
1. There’s probably documentation that shows them deciding to ignore it
2. The scale of the issue is vast, it’s every town and city in the country
3. Any sizeable town has a Muslim parallel society that corruptly runs planning etc, and sends block votes
4. They don’t give a shit because it’s working class white girls
5. Paedophilia goes all the way to the top. These rings will have interacted with rings of more ‘respectable’ middle class and powerful men. Those girls were taken to be raped by multiple men, and within that group there will be people with genuine power. You can chuck maybe one group of scum to the law of they can’t tell on anyone higher up, but there will be multiple others where it’d cause expose of people ‘who matter.’
It's because he's gay.
I know youve said this before and I’m intrigued. I wish him a 2025 sprinkled with as many juicy scandals as the pigeons can bring home to roost.

There is something absolutely hilarious about seeing Farage respond to Musk with the quote:

“My view remains that Tommy Robinson is not right for Reform and I never sell out my principles.”

What fucking principles Farage? You have had the chance, time and time again since 2016, to propel yourself into the position of PM and every time, EVERY TIME you took the choice to abandon the obvious road to do nothing. You resigned after Brexit and killed the chances then, then in 2018 you further killed the chance by leaving UKIP, then later failed to get a foot on the door in 2019, then again with Reform you failed to capitalize on the 2024 general election which Reform had a chance to win big. And now you, AGAIN, ignore the populist option that would net you massive approval.

Farage is such a fucking cunt. It's such a obvious grift that I can't believe anyone still thinks the man actually is anything but a designated loser for the opposition to rally around and stay down. People talk about Tommy Robinson being some sort of Mossad plant or some shit to sabotage the UK but Farage is so much worse.

Now that the iron is hot and the entire UK is simmering with the anger against mass immigration and replacement, Farage comes out and stops being hard on immigration and straight up doesn't even want to mention deportations for illegals and criminals. This man is a fucking fraud.

Again: What fucking principles Farage? This faggot seems more worried about getting into the London Westminster bubble than anything. He is a natural born loser, the perfect English equivalent of those spineless GOP in the USA whose idea of negotiation is "we give you everything you ask for and lose with dignity".

I fucking hate how it takes a retard like Elon Musk to finally crack the façade here. I cannot wait to see the excuses Farage is gonna throw out to explain why he just can't deport anyone and how he is the Reform the UK needs... by being a 2014 Tory in 2024.

He already said so. He doesn't think deportations and remigration is possible and he thinks the best way forward is to shore up support with the Pakis and darkies by appealing to "British values" or something.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but do you not think there's an element of him having to say that ? Can you imagine the fallout for the first UK politician that proposes deportations ? The BBC et al will immediately label them Hitler, the devil incarnate, racist, illegal and want them locked up. The negative press and the social media pile on alone would make them unelectable ( and probably not safe in public ). I can't help but wonder if it isn't a case of playing politics ( i.e. lying ) and doing a "Labour", saying one thing to get elected and then doing something else once in government.
Also, just because you say you don't think that something is possible, that isn't the same thing as not attempting to make it happen.
I'm not trying to second guess Farage's motivations, I just don't think you can read too much into any politician's comments.

Talk about nominative determinism.

I think that Clarkson should pull a Trump and run for office.

So? The punishment is the same for being percieved as racist as it is for being actually racist. Farage is probably one of the only people in the UK that can actually tank the media blitz simply because he is so big already and they have been saying it anyway.

If anything this makes him sound like even more of a coward. He already is attacked, hounded and the subject of 24/7 slander and libel in the UK that he is a nazi fascist BNP jackboot thug who will drown brown kids in the channel. Why is making his position official and aligning with the people most likely to vote for him going too far? He has the world's richest man willing to sponsor him on this bullshit and give him a plataform on Twitter where he will gladly tell London to fuck off and seethe while Britons speak freely, and yet Farage STILL feels the need to hold back and be "presentable" and "civil"? What else does he need for him to feel safe saying what everyone already thought he wanted and the overwhelming majority of his voters want?

Furthermore, even if it WAS the case that he is biding his time that doesn't mean shit for his stance of Tommy Robinson. Nothing about supporting Tommy's fight to expose grooming gangs directly correlates with deportations, and his refusal now to side and help Tommy who is the other major player on the british right trying to stop mass migration is proof he is not honest. He is throwing Tommy to the wolves for no reason, the only people who might care are a infinitesimal speck of a few dozen boomers who somehow are still in denial about the state of the UK who manage to hit the absolute goldilocks of the venn diagram of "wants to vote farage" and "won't allow for speaking ill of the Government".

I disagree. Currently Farage is unpopular in the BBC watching, Guardian reading crowd to the extent that he might get the odd milkshake thrown over him. That is because they perceive him as a racist. Personally, I think he would be absolutely vilified if he came out in favour of deportations. ANTIFA et al would genuinely be a threat to his well being then. There is definitely a line in the sand there and Farage isn't prepared to cross it.
Objectively there is a huge difference between being viewed as a racist by the Left leaning politically ( which is, let's face it, used as a smear on anyone who disagrees with them and so has no real meaning to the vast majority of the population ) and being a racist - to be a racist in the eyes of the law, I'd argue you need to have been convicted of a thought crime "hate crime" ( in my opinion a nonsense in itself ) or incited racial violence or some such.
My own perception of this is much more to do with the Law. If you have a conviction for a "hate" related crime, you are then much more likely to be perceived as being a racist by the man on the street. I don't think the man on the street considers himself racist, nor do I think he wants to be associated with them. I think Farage knows this and knows it would be the death of him politically ( and the final stop on the gravy train ).
So I don't think it's a question of being a coward, it's a question of being a conviction politician rather than a professional politician - I can't think of one politician currently that isn't a pro ( and I use that word for both its associations deliberately ! ) - they are all in it for the money.

The guys of American Thinker posted a interesting rant about the Paki gangs.

Sex and Islam...and the decline of the West

By Andrea Widburg

I worked for 20 years with a lawyer who was the most brilliant man I’ve ever known. After 9/11, he said something to me that I’ve never forgotten: Islam is all about controlling women for sexual access. Muslim men sequester their women for their private access, and they view all non-Muslim women as available for sexual use by Muslim men. Their war on the West is to maintain their women and obtain Western women. (And, of course, the big ticket item for martyrdom is those 72 heavenly virgins each martyr gets to despoil.)

I thought of my friend’s insight when I read an essay from The Telegraph entitled “How the grooming gangs scandal was covered up.” The subtitle is, “The child victims of rape were denied justice and protection from the state to preserve the image of a successful multicultural society.” (I do not believe the essay is behind a paywall, but if it is, you can also find it here.)
The article offers some insights into how Muslims believe non-Muslim women deserve to be treated—and you’d better have a strong stomach:

Just another one of Kier's cronies being bunged off to the watchdog. No doubt she'll be rubber stamped and back on duty within 6 months only for hand wringing a decade down the line along with "how could we have known?"
A member of Sir Keir Starmer’s top team has referred herself to the government’s independent ethics adviser over her links to the deposed prime minister of Bangladesh.

Treasury minister Tulip Siddiq, who is responsible for tackling financial crime, will be investigated by standards watchdog Sir Laurie Magnus amid questions over her aunt Sheikh Hasina, who was removed from power after protests against her rule last year.

Questions have been swirling around Ms Siddiq since she was named in a probe launched by the new Bangladeshi government’s anti-corruption commission. She is alleged to have helped her aunt siphon off £5.2bn intended to be used building eight large-scale projects including a nuclear power plant.

She faced fresh scrutiny over the weekend as it emerged she was given a central London flat by a person connected with Hasina’s Awami League party, and that she lived in a property in Hampstead, north London, that was given to her sister for free by an ally of her aunt’s regime.

Amid growing pressure on Ms Siddiq to resign, Sir Keir confirmed she had referred herself to the standards advisor, who investigates potential breaches of the ministerial code and can advise the PM on sanctions for those in breach.

At a press conference on Monday, Sir Keir said: “Tulip Siddiq has acted entirely properly by referring herself to the independent adviser, as she has now done.

“That is why we brought in the new code, to allow ministers to ask the adviser to establish the facts.

“Yes I have confidence in her and that is the process that will now be happening.” As well as referring herself to the watchdog, Ms Siddiq will now no longer go on a trip to China this week alongside Rachel Reeves and Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey, but will stay at home to assist the probe.

Shadow Home Office minister Matt Vickers said: There are clear questions for his friend and anti-corruption minister Tulip Siddiq to answer about allegations made about her. She must be held to the same standards as other ministers in his government, indications so far show that that may not be the case.”

It came after the Sunday Times revealed Ms Siddiq had lived in the Hampstead property given to her then teenage sister Azmina in 2009 by Moin Ghani, a Bangladeshi lawyer who has represented Hasina’s government and has been pictured with Hasina.

Ms Siddiq is also renting a £2.1m home in East Finchley owned by an executive member of the UK wing of Hasina’s Awami League.

Hasina, Bangladesh’s longest-serving prime minister, is now in India after being ousted in August following weeks of violent anti-government protests.

She has been accused by the new Bangladeshi administration of corruption, as well as “massacres, killings and crimes against humanity” including the deaths of at least 800 protesters. Ms Siddiq is one of several family members alleged to have benefited from the corruption, but denies wrongdoing.

Shadow home secretary Chris Philp said: “It is high time for Tulip Siddiq to explain the source of her wealth, and whether any of it comes from the proceeds of her aunt’s alleged corrupt dealings.”

He called for Sir Keir to suspend her from her anti-corruption brief until she has answered any outstanding questions over her aunt’s regime.

Bangladesh’s anti-corruption commission has launched a probe into Ms Siddiq, her UK-based mother Sheikh Rehana Siddiq, and her aunt Ms Hasina, who ruled the country for more than 15 years.

The nuclear plant at the centre of the probe was built by Russian state-backed firm Rosatom, while the deal was signed in the Kremlin a decade ago in a ceremony attended by Ms Siddiq, her aunt and Vladimir Putin.

Just a reminder that if we’d done what she’d done, or a quarter of what Keith Vaz had done, we’d be in prison.

Also, you have lost the Keith Vaz game.
