A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Since the Prime Minister chooses the Archbishop of Canterbury I’m going to bet on black.
And female.

He has this weird thing about surrounding himself with women, like he wants to use them as some sort of shield against people looking too deeply into his affairs.

He's not wrong, Farage is holding back the right massively in this country and he's not pushing anything in Parliament on even attempting to unite the right. He's as bad as the rest of them and I hope he and his cult of personality hang with him.
Farage is also absolute electoral poison in Scotland and for a lot of Norf FC boomers. Reform are doing well with protest votes but if they’re going to be a real party they need to ditch the reality TV star and get someone who isn’t an absolute fucking clown shoe.

For christ‘s sake don’t do a UKIP and start by telling Sargon to fuck off too.

It's because he's gay. Think of high school or work - before the modern-day gay-acceptance, the only people surrounded by women were puffs.

Reading some of the language used around these rape gangs has me frothing at the mouth honestly. Just take these two paragraphs below:

toryscum.png

"hundreds of thousands of people from alien cultures" you mean MEN from PAKISTAN who are MUSLIM.

There's so many subtle uses of language in articles and posts about this trying to dehumanise everyone involved depending on the bias of the writer. So many uses of 'victims' instead of 'children' for instance or 'perpetrators' instead of 'Pakistani men'. The more I read about this the more MATI I get.

Douglas Murray has always been pretty strong and loud on the grooming gangs and mass immigration. Also he, unlike the prime minister, doesn’t see the need to use a bunch of women as a shield and goes out and has sex with grown men like a boss.

Can't really blame him for that though, He's spent his career going after Islam very publicly so it makes sense he would side with Israel over Hamas.
There's supporting Israel over Hamas and then there's saying Western civilization can't survive without Israel and he'd rather see 15 million Christians die then 15 million Jews

Fair enough. Though to be fair 15 millions Jews dying would be of more consequence than 15 million Christians dying simply by proportion. There's only 16 million Jews in the world and there's over 2 billion Christians.

But I get what you mean.

Just like last time when their numbers barely dropped.

Farage isn’t going anywhere since he owns the party, but his only concern is the same fraudulent grift he pulled with UKIP. I’m sure he didn’t expect or even want to win Clacton but now he’s stuck with it.

Hasn’t he been to the U.S more than his own home constituency? God knows how he won his seat, a glorified grifter with questionable hostile money. Though I suppose those who voted for him in Clacton probably don’t care much, I loved it as a simple kid, pure shit hole now.

He calls this “representing Clacton abroad” or something. All he’s ever cared about is grandstanding for his own ego. It was the same when he was the MEP. It’s why he doesn’t even touch remigration and why he said on that podcast that Britain needs to accept that Muslims are here to stay and re-orientate accordingly. He wants to leverage himself to “pick up Muslim votes” whatever that means. It’s why he’s spent more time talking about milk and biscuits in hotel rooms than he has about actual issues.
