A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

What do brits ITT think about George Galloway?
Absolute twat. Previous posters have summed it up well.
We badly need sensible normal people to get into politics, or we end up with the spectrum running from the clowns (Diane Abbott) through the banal evil to the Blair end of things.

They all leave because party politics in the UK is a self perpetuating racket and it is not possible to get anything done.
There seems to be some kind of evil filter as well as a mediocrity filter to get rid of anyone with morals and ability. I’m a hypocrite because I wouldn’t go into local politics either. I feel I’d be an effective benign dictator though (dictatress?)
I once saw some Egyptian throne with something like ‘she whose every word is carried out’ and I thought yes, there’s a lady who got stuff done. Like that handwritten dictat from cleopatra that ends ‘make it so’ or whatever.
We badly need some better people in charge.

Local politics is the stagnant water of sectors, it harbours disease and pestilence and attracts only bloodsuckers and parasites.
The mediocracy filter is no joke, anyone of competence/value goes into actual politics it's a perverse incentive really, the evil filter isn't real that's just the influence of old people and the occasional 20 something lunatic.
I like the sound of Dictatrix.

It is genuinely hard to believe the amount of cocksucking and self abasement that is required to get even a toehold in local politics until you see people you respected getting into it.

I liked it waaaay back in the day, when he used to get trolled by 4chan, and it got so bad that at one point nobody was legitimately calling into his radio show, it was all just shitposters from 4chan fucking around, talking about Mudkips and Rickrolling and over 9000 and shit like that.
Gosh. You've just given me a flashback to memories of britchan.
Spoiling Harry Potter when it was still cool and recreating the nigra swastikas in Hyde Park (video deleted from youtube and unarchived :()

Ps: When the fuck did everyone switch to "Sulfur"?

None of this is propaganda, this is all my subjective experience. As in, the things I've encountered while being in America where I've thought "this would fuck me up if I lived here".

>Most of what you list here is either a net benefit
You're proving my point about the US and the UK being very different countries.
I hate to be harsh (or actually, I don't at all) but if you're allergic to guns please, please stay in the UK. We have enough of that lot here causing problems.

As to the religious right, well, you can either choose between Christian fundies in the USA, or the Muslim fundies at home in the UK.
I know you're not entirely serious, but the -ize spelling is the traditional one. The -ise spelling came about because people wanted English to look like French, for some reason.

My own usage of -ize is prompted far more by hatred of the French than love of the Americans.
Keep returning to tradition and ditch the "-our" stuff too.
They’d have to show us their Yankoid License when asked.
Its called the M1911A1, and it can be shown 7+1 times before needing to be renewed.

Everything I know about British slang is from consuming British punk/garage rock and watching This Is England.
Do me a favour and look into the origin of the word twatdangle (I think it was early 00's). That stunt and the British reaction to it is probably the best example of British culture in my living memory. (Apart from the day Charles and Camilla nipped into a relatives house in Yorkshire for a cuppa)

I distinctly remember Americans mocking that stunt as well.
Apparently you could play IRL Power Stone by going to a theatre showing this (or NEDS) in certain cities.
I thought it was a great film. I should watch NEDS.

Happy Near Year Brits! Fuck you to those who left, traitors! What are all your plans? Having a home celebration, down the local or just having a quiet one in, hopefully your 2025 be wonderful, and may our politics not fall further into a cesspool of degeneracy.

I’m heading the gym for the first time since just before Christmas so I’ve no doubt I’ll be in bed by ten o’clock.

Sitting at home with a cheap bottle of fizz and watching the fireworks. It'll be nice to have a quiet night in for a change.

The kind of degeneracy that my namesake who was banging stripper's in his late 70s would be proud of.

It was never me that claimed to be a good man.

Gun culture rather than guns. As in, people have really really strong opinions about guns. It's weird.

Don't make me choose, I love them both so very much.
