A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Man arrested for being a pervert

Look at that. No name released.

I think it's pretty fucking obvious what demographic the perpetrator belonged to here.

However, because it is a story that also features young women going out and having a good time, I look forward to all of his spiritual brothers ('akhis', as I believe they call them in Islam) swarming into this thread to seethe that ackshually it was entirely their own fault for not staying at home and wearing their burqas and they voted for this and roasties reeeeeeeeee.

That's Bradford in east Manchester, not Bradford in Yorkshire. It's over the road from the man city stadium. Can't say for sure if it's a paki haven or not, but it is one of the poorer parts of the city.

TIL. I didn't know there was more than one Bradford, especially one so close to actual Bradford...well, they're both actually Bradford, but you know what I mean.

I can't find any racial stats, but if it's in the North and poor, there's a high likely hood it's migrant infested.

Doing a good old look on the census 2021 map around where Bradford in Manchester is. It comes up around an average from 30-50% when filtering as born outside the UK so I guess just calling somewhere Bradford must have confused enough of them to take a wrong turn.

Migration figures have been revised. We had a net immigration of over 900,000 to June last year (archive as of this post as it's an updating story), but they pinky promise that immigration has gone down this year and the count isn't being actively manipulated to hide just how many people are entering the country. Honest!

That said, the changes to family visas have apparently had an effect, so who knows. I still reckon we'll eventually see them admitting to more than 1 million entering the country this year.

Additional:

Gregg Wallace, the Master Chef presenter, has been accused of "historical misconduct" at some point in the past. There's literally no other details, but I'm sure it'll turn out to be some sort of "he raped me in front of thirty people" allegation from a spurned groupie. Expect lots of jokes about Gregg's sausage roll in the next few days.

The petition has slowed down but is crawling to 3 million. Over 2.8 currently.

Site says it's to be debated in parliament on the 6th of January. While we all know it's a nothing burger, we can at least hope for some egg on Kier's face.

There's a whole month of potential habbenings between now and then, to justify turning it into a public pillory for the Farmer Harmer. Maybe someone will be extra brave and use it to kick off the vote of no confidence I'm craving, though as things stand right now, Labour would easily win that one.

edit: Oh shit, talking about farmers, according to xitter, Welsh farmers blockaded Holyhead last night. Completely shut down the port.

There are farm protests happening all over Europe now. Every country seems to have implemented insane policies designed to force farmers off their land. Interesting times.

Was visiting family so unusually I watched television last night. Sky pundits casually discussing "are we already at war with Russia" (they seemed to think so).

What the fuck are they trying to normalise here? Surely any news show would be slapped down for pushing alarmist drivel unless the government was on board with the message. Do they seriously think they can send Brits off to die in Ukraine right after announcing they've imported another million Abduls and Ngubus?

And as always, the English are the only ones to not do much of anything when compared to their European counterparts because we have to be different.

Yes I know their doing some stuff but compared to the French, Dutch, etc we are such massive cucks when it comes to organised protests or movements with the aim to disrupt.

The fact that, after the London protest, the farmers immediately spread out to protesting at ports should tell you that they're not playing the usual games. They're making an implicit threat of full-blown blockades - or not so implicit in the case of holyhead, where they did in fact blockade the port overnight. Remember that this is the largest transport link between England/Wales and Ireland. I think we've turned the corner on this one and it's not going to be pretty.

Every western country, at least. Here the government is talking about subsiding rice farmers more so that we can ensure more food security in times of rising costs.

As corrupt as my third world country can be, the government is at least making sane noises. I can only surmise the WEF tards are running the asylum in most of Western Europe.

Now that's odd. Just who would benefit from kicking out farmers and then buying up all their farmland?

Who, I say? 🤔

We've been here before, many years ago. The Chunnel blockade with the lorry drivers lasted days and achieved very little. That was when we had a backbone. Nowadays? Lend me your optimism.

It's not just the west. I can point to Sri Lanka, which in 2022 was suffering chronic food shortages after implementing a WEF-inspired total ban on chemical fertilisers in 2019/20. They rolled back the ban in '21, but food yields only recovered this year IIRC. At the time, it was the poster child for the "organic" future promoted by the WEF and co, but it was quickly shunted out of the news cycle when everything went to shit.

This is where you tell me you're from sri lanka and I'm wrong about everything, isn't it?

Fortunately not, so you're very free to call Ceylon the shithole it is. :story:

Don’t worry guys! Immigration will come down! The UK will now be funding the Iraqi and Kurds worth half a million in order to ensure they tackle immigration and smugglers.. totally not going to end up in their own pockets, buy more weapons and smoke shisha laughing all the way to the bank. How will they ensure these funds will actually land in the right place and do what it’s suppose to? Lmao.
