A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

We don’t like to use words like nigger because they can be derogatory and can hurt people’s feelings so we like to use the word “scholar”, “doctor”, “scientist” or “cultural enriches”.

I will provide it in a sentence “oh look that scholar is mugging that old lady”, “look at that cultural enricher trying to harass those little school girls” and “all these doctors that keep coming from France is going to rescue the NHS”.

As for Muslims it’s always the racist police stopping them from grooming girls. For some reason police officers like to run into the closed first of Muslim men’s hands; this is why police always apologise to the Muslims even after they were having consensual sex with passed out girls.

I hope you learnt something today and be less racist because when the Muslims are being harassed by police after giving a young girl alcohol or a scholar is teaching the locals how the skin and cook a cat you will thank me and be less racist.

It was leaked that he's an Irish citizen and apparently claimed he was born there too when he travelled to Canada. Just an extra piece of hypocrisy from him.

The Irish know what's up. Call this a fedpost if you must but nothing will change so long as we're not burning down the hotels that house migrants and the busses that bring them in. If some Gypos and Brownoids can set Leeds on fire and the police do nothing we just need to do the same but in numbers. And do the same if one of us gets arrested on pathetic trumped up charges. Then the Government might get fearful enough to remember who they're supposed to serve.

He's a British citizen with family here. He will obviously return for any court obligations. In anycase I'm struggling to see what any of this has to do with him releasing footage of school teachers who have signed NDA's, showing the local council and MSM manufactured a race baiting narrative, potentially ruining a school boy's life?

Most normal people hear something like this and think "shit, maybe there's actually something disgusting going on here?" But for whatever reason you're trying to throw as much shit into the conversation as possible to draw the conclusion away from that?

This is why I give the benefit of the doubt to crass, imperfect, or even grifter-ish types (to the extent they need some alternative way to make a living). People can be imperfect but still effective, and we can support the good they do without worshipping them.

Ann Coulter, Donald Trump, Jordan Peterson, Sargon of Akkad...all moved the Overton Window by touching live wires the average Joe couldn't without facing ruin. Instead of demanding ideological purity, we can take what's useful, and if they turn out to be frauds or just wrong on other things, move on.

Chris Rufo may have incorrect views, but I'm not going to deny or ignore the real-world victories he's notched against Globohomo.

Nothing further officially reported but locals saying a Muslim went into a Taylor Swift yoga and dance workshop for kids and started stabbing. Locals say one child has died.

Southport used to have a Pontins - rough as fuck holiday park. Ideal to house migrants.

I was really expecting that to go the other way. I'm sure they'll try appeal it and get it overturned, same way they got Bell v Tavistock overturned on appeal. Then again, that was on a technicality of the court attempting to interpret medical guidance, whereas this is the lawfulness of a government act.

No, it's a dump that had its heyday as a Victorian holiday town and an alternative to Blackpool, which is just across the bay. The majority of the population are senile oldies who complain about everything and anything.

The most interesting part about Southport is that allegedly the streets of Paris were designed on Lord Street, as Napoleon III supposedly stayed there for a period of time.

I’m checking French and Spanish news sources as they often have details of the attacker hours before English speaking ones and nothing yet
