A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Can the tranny janny who was deleting my posts give me a clue what it was I’ve been told to “knock off” as I’ve no fucking idea as I behave myself mostly in this thread?

You’ll also never be a woman BTW.

EDIT: Holy shit, I think it was me and another poster just having a laugh, I’ve completely forgotten the other uses name. We weren’t having a slap fight, it was all in good humour and it made me laugh. Please take the stick out of your arse if it was that.

Janniggers simply can't into banter

Found this story sitting on the front page of the BBC today (house prices massively inflated due to huge demand and restricted supply, but with the unsubtle spin that the government should cap prices or something). Usual media sort of fare, the article equivalent of Charlie Brooker's how to report the news, where they dumb everything down and interview someone for a human interest angle to a story that would be pretty dull otherwise.

Except it's a also a very obvious example of a trend I've noticed on the BBC for a long time: They always interview a troon. Every human interest story has to have a troon in it somewhere.

In this case, the fivehead owner is one "Emma Harris", a brummie (so doubly awful) software developer, who makes up almost two thirds of the entire article. He's earning 50k, which is high for the sort of experience and skillset he has (in the UK market; I know everywhere else pays a lot more, even for shit developers), so he's obviously leveraged his troon status to get ahead in some way.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this person on the BBC before. He must be trying to use some tenuous media connection to kick-start a grift of some sort. Maybe I should cross-post this to tranny Ls as well...

It looks like Jonathan King in a wig.
It should not be allowed to own property. It should be compelled to live in some sort of police-monitored housing where it can be subjected to regular warrantless search. It clearly has a CP stash.

Power word is Graham Harris: https://www.credly.com/users/graham-harris.f64392c7, https://archive.is/mEGbe

EDIT: £50,000 annually works out at £3,300 a month after tax, so he's saying he spends £2,200 on rent and bills. You can rent somewhere in Brum for a grand a month, so where on earth is the rest going - Funko Pops and troonshine?

After being forced to recognise that having a service sector entirely run by foreign workers doesn't work in the long run, the Labour government has come up with the ingenious solution of wasting taxpayer money to create another arm of the civil service for people to grift off of which anyone with a lick of sense already knows will not do its job and will only make the problem worse.

London is a blight, Whitehall is a blight. I can't even get mad anymore, this is just an unfunny joke.

I’m pretty sick of the British media trying to gaslight me into thinking Kamala is a sensible candidate.

It shouldn’t be trying to influence how I feel about candidates here, let alone one thousands of miles away in an election I can’t vote in.

BBC Protecting rubbish commentator

As per Kelvin MacKenzie on X -

Quite accept Joey Barton is a vile piece of work, but the fact he has been charged with malicious communication ( in court next week) for describing Eni Aluko and Lucy Ward as the “ Fred and Rose West of football commentary” is ridiculous. The comments came after Aluko had covered the FA Cup between Crystal Palace and Everton. Barton tweeted; “ How is she even talking about men’s football? She can’t even talk about football properly.” Offensive stuff but surely not worth wasting a court’s time. Aluko said at the time of the tweets; “This is probably one of the worst cases of social media abuse I’ve ever experienced.’’

Brings to mind the Christmas BlackAdder....

Prince Albert - “Sir! We have never been so insulted in our entire lives!”
Ebenezer Blackadder - “Well, all I can say is: you’ve been damned lucky”

Protected language, protected groups of people. Wonder if anything would have happened if this had been a black woman calling the white man Fred West ?

Weird how he was charged when Labour came into power and not Tories.

It’s like they know it’s a bullshit charge they need the government to railroad.

The Tories paid the lowest level lip service to free speech but this really isn’t a good sign for things going forward.

I quote "This time is going to be as bad or worse. There are going to be massive changes to the Civil Service, things that once they've been done can't be undone. Unfortunatley most people won't notice until their freedoms have completely gone - this government will increasingly impinge on individuals' liberties."
Individual freedom of speech will be eroded. There will be words that can't be said. This is a way of shaping how people think, if certain words are banned, or become risky to use, it eventually curtails thought around these issues. Slowly any sort of counter argument to the prescribed docterine will become difficult, if not impossible.
Certain groups will be held beyond criticism. Any criticism will be held as wrong think and will be prosecuted.
Members of protected groups will be the sole arbitrators of what is deemed offensive. Most likely this will be the most sensitive members of these groups.
It is interesting that this seems to be happening faster than I thought it would. It is a delicate game for the BBC, they have to be noisey enough to show support for the poor minority being offended, but not loud enough that it might actually trigger the masses into realising what is actually going on here.

Suzi Perry commentating on Bike racing, not a problem she knows her stuff.
Sue Baker on Question of Sport, no problem, the perfect host.
Gabby Logan, a British legend in her own right.

But football? Keep women commentators away from it, they're awful. Just awful.

Eni Aluko is one of the worst commentators and pundits it has been my displeasure to watch and hear. Absolutely dreadful.
Let's be honest the bar is pretty low there. I agree with you... but other than all the partisan Scousers and Mancs, my "winners" podium, whom I used to particularly "enjoy"....

1. Jamie Redknapp - Tim "nice but dim" made flesh. A man who for years worked as a professional pundit, but didn't understand the difference between "literally" and "figuratively".
  • “He literally chopped him in half in that challenge”
  • “The ball literally gave him a haircut.”
  • “Alonso and Sissoko have been picked to literally sit in front of the back four.”
  • “He's literally just eaten the fourth official.”
  • "He's literally turned him inside out."
2. Glen Hoddle - a weirdo, don't mention reincarnation or spirituality. However, things got more interesting when he talked about defence. He would always talk about keeping things "tight". But said in a sort of onomatopoeic way, where his whole body would contract and his jaw would lock to the extent he would squeeze the word out " tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight". Kind of reminds me of a baby's poop face.

3. Big Ron Atkinson. Cancelled in 2004, before it became popular. Although what he said might have been construed as slightly racist by today's standards ( he called Marcel Desailly a "fucking lazy, thick nigger" ). But had a peculiar way of saying tournament ( tourKNEEment ) and obviously during World Cup 98, he must have said it a thousand times. Got to the stage of playing a drinking game, but just a glug every time he said it. A pint would have been annihilation before kick off.

As much as these guys were so bad, in a strange way I almost enjoyed them, I sadly don't think that will ever be the case with female commentators and pundits - I don't know if it's because they are so desperate to prove themselves, but they seem to lack any charisma and I just find them annoying, especially when they try to copy the voice style of how men commentate.

'will be'? That ship has long since sailed.

Is this a rhetorical question?

Anything and everything affects troons more according to Aunty Beeb.

All the noticers have also been noticing:

Vicki Sparkes ruins Match of the Day and live games on the BBC where she "commentates". Always seem to be a second or half a second behind, raises her voice several decibels when one of her favourite players touches the ball, or nearly touches the ball.

Might be better commentating on horse dressage, just so she can calm down a bit.
