A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Somebody killed while "minding his own business" in Peckhamlike

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/cri...r-kalabe-legesse-stabbed-police-b1051377.html

P
olice have released a picture of the victim of a stabbing in Peckham Rye Park- a week after his deadly ambush.
Kalabe Legesse, 29, was stabbed to death as he was sitting “minding his own business” close to the park’s cafe off Strakers Road on the evening of Friday December 30.

Officers said Tuesday they were hunting for two suspects riding pedal bikes who fled the scene towards Peckham Rye after the “brutal and senseless attack”.

A post-mortem found the cause of his death to be a haemorrhage and a stab wound to the heart. His next-of-kin have been informed.

Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “Kalabe’s family and friends have been left devastated by his death, which occurred after a brutal and senseless attack when he was simply sitting in the park, minding his own business.”
Urging witnesses to come forwards, she added: “My thoughts are with the family of the man who has been killed. We will provide them with every possible support.

“The investigation is in its early stages and as yet no arrests have been made. We are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry as we piece together what happened on Friday evening.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who was in or around the park, particularly in the area near the cafe and playground, at about 8pm.

“We would also like to hear from anyone else with information about this attack. I know it can be daunting to come forward, but the insight you may be able to offer could be crucial in identifying the person or people responsible.”
A candlelight vigil will take place at the spot Mr Kalebe was ambushed at 8.30pm on Friday, January 6 exactly a week on from his death.

Ish Lennox, from the St Antony and St Silas Church, told Southwark News: “There needs to be a response from the community and to mourn this man who lost his life and bring people together to grieve.

“The park is a fantastic and safe space. We need to own this space, to keep it ours. So it’s very sad that there’s been this terrible, violent and senseless act.”

Really emphasising on minding his own business. At best probably mistaken identity or being from the wrong "ends".

I don't see the point of this. If they haven't learned by 16, they're not going to learn in the next two years. It's purely an attempt to appear to be doing something.
its more a ploy to keep people in education and shrink the native workforce, so they can import more people. a lot of it is to hide unemployment too

Surprise
The Britons are unhappy, essential services have collapsed, divorce rates are up and house prices have slumped. Is the UK still a great place to live and work?

Keir’s not going to be able to get anything under control because it is because of Ukraine and Covid and no Government will admit they fucked that up.

‘from some on the left of the labour party’

You know there is something wrong with the party when the journalists are saying there is a Left to the Leftwing Party, it means there’s a Right in the Leftwing Party. And that’s concerning.
There's definetly a far left element to the Labour Party, you just have to see the conferences where there's a huge focus on things that are completly out of touch with the average voter such as the Israel/Palestine conflict.

There was a lot of far left entryists under Corbyn and they're pretty easy to detect since they're obsessed with voting reform since Labour are clearly not their first choice, they'd rather be voting for the Green Party or the Socalist Party.

And something like all of Labour's PM's have come out of the Fabian Society, who are explicitly dedicated to gradualism as a means of Communist takeover. And before you ask, yes, a sexologist was one of its founding members, and their original heraldry was a wolf in sheep's clothing. They're so brazen about their aims not even the Wikipedia jannies can sanitize their page.

Not to forget they were pro eugenics too.

Uh.....hail to the king baby?
The UK's King Charles has rejected pleas for a more modest coronation, as an unprecedented cost-of-living crisis is forcing a shocking number of Britons out of their homes and into food banks.
Didn't the Shah of Iran try that?
