A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Tbh no, I don't think politicians are really human. They just try to guess what humans think and how they feel.
Yeah, that's about right lol. I don't see 'Paki' when I see Rishi Sunak, I see a fucking Auton from Dr. Who. Dude looks like a plastic figurine nervously realising that it's surrounded by people everytime he meets with non conservative politicians.

UK refugee charity calls for ban on naming migrant hotels
The Refugee Council in the United Kingdom has called on British lawmakers not to disclose the names of migrant hotels to the general public, citing safety concerns.

It is understood that the charity’s chief executive, Enver Solomon, wrote to the House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle, expressing “serious concerns” over the safety of asylum seekers arriving in England in small boats across the English Channel.

The move comes after a lone far-right British man threw petrol bombs at a migrant processing center in Dover, Kent late last month before taking his own life.

Solomon warned MPs that by naming hotels in their local constituencies, they were increasing the risk of harm for asylum seekers residing at the facilities.

It should be noted that Remix News is not aware of any other attempts to target facilities accommodating asylum seekers, and at the time of the aforementioned attack, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing South East Ch Supt Olly Wright said there was “nothing to suggest any ongoing wider threat at this time.”

In his letter, Solomon claimed the Dover migrant center attack “served to underline that people in the asylum system are vulnerable to violent attack by extremists, and many are staying in hotels with minimal security.

“It has been Home Office practice to not publicly name hotels where people are staying in order to guard their safety and privacy, but we know that increasingly MPs are naming specific premises when they raise this issue.”

The refugee charity’s chief executive accepted that MPs should be able to raise any constituency issue in parliament, but insisted “this can be done without identifying a specific hotel and potentially making it more vulnerable to attack.”

Solomon urged the Commons leader to “communicate with MPs on this matter,” and asked that they “refrain from publicly identifying hotels that are housing people seeking asylum, to maintain the security at these sites.”

The Home Office has now block-booked more than 200 hotels across Britain and Northern Ireland to temporarily house individuals entering Britain via small boats and claiming asylum, and resettled Afghans; a move that is costing U.K. taxpayers around £7 million a day.

According to Home Office figures given to parliament’s Home Affairs Select Committee last month, more than 37,000 migrants are being accommodated for, and with an asylum system that has only processed 4 percent of the tens of thousands of individuals who arrived in the same manner to Britain last year, the accommodation has become semi-permanent for most, and the number of arrivals continues to rise.

Latest figures as of the beginning of this week put the number of arrivals via the English Channel so far this year at 41,769, with a further 30,000 supposedly thwarted by French police patrolling the country’s northern beaches.

British MPs have contacted the Home Office as they have sought to address the escalating number of complaints made by their constituents over the inappropriate hotel locations being used by the Home Office.

Labour’s Lisa Nandy claimed a hotel in her constituency was unsuitable to accommodate large groups of adult males due to its location near to a secondary school, after numerous reports of girls’ P.E. lessons being watched by groups of men, and harassment of school girls walking home.

Peterborough City Council, supported by local Conservative MP Paul Bristow also recently opposed the use of a luxurious city center hotel in the town by asylum seekers, with the council claiming its social services had reached capacity.

Ipswich Borough Council and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council both also recently argued that hotels were being converted to hostels for asylum seekers, in breach of their local planning controls.

Local authorities in Kent and the surrounding area wrote to Home Secretary Suella Braverman last week telling her department its social services were at “breaking point” after saturating its social housing and hotel accommodation to house migrants.

Ethical questions will arise as to whether residents near to migrant hotels should be informed of plans to house large groups of asylum seekers, and whether anonymity as per the locations being used to house them could lead to further incidents among unassuming locals.

Legislation which allows abortion of babies with Down's syndrome up until birth upheld by Court of Appeal

“Judges ruled last September the legislation was not unlawful and aimed to strike a balance between the rights of the unborn child and of women.

The case was reconsidered by the Court of Appeal at a hearing in July.

In a summary of the decision, by Lord Justice Underhill, Lady Justice Thirlwall and Lord Justice Peter Jackson, the judges said the Act does not interfere with the rights of the "living disabled".

They said: "The court recognises that many people with Down's syndrome and other disabilities will be upset and offended by the fact that a diagnosis of serious disability during pregnancy is treated by the law as a justification for termination, and that they may regard it as implying that their own lives are of lesser value.

"But it holds that a perception that that is what the law implies is not by itself enough to give rise to an interference with Article 8 rights (to private and family life, enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights)."

Tldr: Downy woman upset that majority of women don't want retarded kids. Takes this argument to court, loses. Lol

Diphtheria cases rising among asylum seekers

Archive
The number of cases of diphtheria among asylum seekers who have recently arrived in the UK has risen to more than 50, the BBC understands.

It comes after it was confirmed that one migrant who died after being held at Manston processing centre in Kent had contracted the disease.
The man died in hospital on 19 November after entering the UK on a small boat seven days earlier.
The Home Office said it takes the welfare of those in its care seriously.

This week, health officials are set to confirm there have been more than 50 diphtheria cases among asylum seekers this year, the BBC understands.
In 2021, there were three of the same strain, according to government data.

Diphtheria is a highly contagious infection that affects the nose, throat and sometimes cause ulcers on the skin.
According to the NHS website, it's spread by coughs and sneezes or through close contact with someone who is infected, and in serious cases can be fatal.

You can also get it by sharing items such as cups, cutlery, clothing or bedding with an infected person.
Babies and children in the UK are vaccinated against diphtheria, meaning cases are rare. However, the infection is potentially dangerous to migrants who come from countries where this is not the case.

The UK Health Security Agency (HSA) says it is not known if the more than 50 people who have or have had diphtheria were infected at Manston. The body said that cases have been rising amongst asylum seekers across Europe and some people reported symptoms before arriving, and so could have been infected in their home country. However, the incubation period for the illness is between two and five days, with a maximum of 10 days, so infections in people who were at Manston are likely to be recent.

A post-mortem examination is trying to determine whether the man held at Manston died because of his diphtheria infection.

According to a Home Office spokesperson, hospital tests indicate "diphtheria may be the cause of the illness".
Initial tests were negative and the Home Office said at the time there was "no evidence at this stage" that the person had died from an infectious disease. But a follow-up PCR test for diphtheria has since produced a positive result.
Health officials have advised vaccines and antibiotics are offered to people on arrival at their new accommodation, and close contacts are identified.

The Manston centre was cleared of people earlier this month after reports of overcrowding and outbreaks of disease. There are concerns that people who may have had diphtheria have been moved around the country.
The Sunday Times reports that Jim McManus, president of the Association of Directors of Public Health, said this "had put asylum seekers and potentially hotel workers at avoidable and preventable risk"and had "created additional and preventable burdens on local health system".
He also accused the Home Office of a "lack of co-ordination" that has "made the situation far worse than it could be".

Meanwhile, Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Daisy Cooper said the government should be "ashamed" of what she called "callous complacency over the health and well-being of asylum seekers".

A Home Office spokesperson said: "We work closely with a range of partners within the community including local authorities and health leads to make sure information is shared in a timely way and that everyone leaving Manston is given access to appropriate treatment.
"As the UK Health Security Agency have made clear, the risk of diphtheria to the public is very low, due to high uptake of the diphtheria vaccine in this country and because the infection is typically passed on through close prolonged contact with a case.

"We take both the welfare of those in our care and our wider public health responsibilities extremely seriously. As such, we continue to work closely with the NHS and UKHSA to support the individuals affected and limit the transmission of infection."

Dr Trish Mannes, UKHSA Director for the South East, added: "The risk of diphtheria to the wider public remains very low, due to high uptake of the diphtheria vaccine in this country, and because the infection is typically passed on through close prolonged contact with a case."

The Manston migrant processing facility is a former military base and is designed to hold just 1,600 people. But in October there were around 4,000 migrants being held there.

More than 40,000 migrants have crossed the Channel on small boats this year.
Home Secretary Suella Braverman told the Home Affairs Select Committee that the government had "failed to control our borders". She also blamed migrants and people smugglers for the chaos at Manston.

Women Critical of Gender Ideology Heckled, Assaulted at Free Speech Event in London
(Archive)
Two women’s rights advocates were reportedly assaulted this afternoon at an event in the United Kingdom hosted by Standing for Women as part of a series of free speech events held in support of women’s single-sex spaces.

Kellie-Jay Keen, also known by her moniker Posie Parker, and Katy Worley, co-founder of the women’s rights organization Make More Noise, were attacked by trans activists who were holding a counter-demonstration against the free speech event.

Upon arrival to the event location at the Reformers’ Tree monument in London’s Hyde Park, Keen was sprayed with an unknown liquid substance.

“I got assaulted already, I got water sprayed at me, which could have been anything, quite frankly…” Keen said into a camera which was live-streaming the event to YouTube.

On Twitter, Central London Anti-Fascists, who had declared their presence at the event, suggested the liquid was not water, and was instead more dangerous or unsanitary.

At the end of the live-stream, Keen said that she would seek out the police to give a statement, and that she wished to press charges.

The alleged assailant was described by witnesses speaking to Reduxx as a 6-foot-tall non-binary identifying male who was wearing leggings that showed his penis.” The man was briefly taken aside by police and questioned, but ultimately allowed to leave.

Later during the event, women’s rights advocate Katy Worley, also known on social media as DJ Lippy, had her phone grabbed and was aggressively manhandled by a trans-identified female who was then swiftly arrested as police had witnessed the assault.

Worley told Reduxx that she had been filming a Hassidic Jewish man who had been talking to Antifa about the violent signs many of them had showed up with. Many of the trans activists had arrived at the event carrying boards, flags, and fabric painted with disturbing messages, including asking for “allies” to provide trans people with guns, and calling women who support single sex spaces “child abusers.”

The Hassidic man who had approached the counter-demonstration and attempted to peacefully engage with the Antifa protestors was quickly accused of harassment, and was threatened with police action.

As Worley filmed the developing situation, a trans activist reached over her shoulder and grabbed her phone, spurring Worley to struggle in an attempt to maintain hold of her property.

Worley’s partner, popular British feminist Aja, took to Twitter to report what had happened to her followers.

Aja posted a video of the assailant being arrested and taken to a police van, as well as a photograph of Worley in a Police car being interviewed and her statement being taken.

Worley told Reduxx that during the interview, police referred to her assailant with the pronouns “she and her,” apparently confirming her understanding of the attacker being a female.

According to Worley, the assailant is still in police custody as of the publishing of this article, and police have advised Worley that they will inform her if the attacker is released on bail.

Women who attended the event also noted that trans activists had been using megaphones and drums to try and drown them out, which are usually prohibited at Speaker’s Corner in Hyde Park. When female attendees asked the police about why these banned activities were being allowed, they reportedly said that they had chosen to not enforce the bylaws in an attempt to keep the peace.

Police did keep the trans activists at the Reformers’ Tree location to allow the women to leave safely after the event had concluded, an act which was commended by those women attending. But it was the volunteer stewards that earned the highest praise, with the yellow-vested women consistently moving to place themselves between the Antifa activists and the female attendees.

Today’s violence follows a long string of attacks on women critical of gender ideology during free speech events.

During Kellie-Jay Keen’s recent US tour of pro-woman free speech events, multiple incidents were recorded in what was a worrying trend where women critical of gender ideology were being targeted by trans activists.

Keen’s appearance in Portland, Oregon had to be cancelled on October 25 after credible threats were received. Despite Keen’s absence, a small group of women carried out an unofficial demonstration in the event’s place as an act of resistance.

As the women spoke, multiple masked men rushed their area and pelted them with whipped cream pies.

Similarly, on October 26, the event in Tacoma, Washington was quickly derailed by violent trans activists and Antifa. Multiple physical altercations were recorded, with some trans activists showing up wearing brass knuckles and attempting to grapple female speakers to the ground during their speeches.

At least nine people were arrested in New York City during protests that broke out in opposition to the last stop of Keen’s US tour. Like in Portland, Keen had been unable to attend the event as she was not able to get to the speaking podium safely due to aggressive counter-protestors.

The fact the police are just allowing the troons to get away basically with soft terrorism is a utter disgrace, on the other hand the TERFs probably wouldnt be grateful if actual men defended them anyways

Imagine being such an obnoxious gaggle of retards that even the police kowtow to you.

Oh well. It was a nice fantasy, while it lasted.
I'm going to say I told you so once more. Still can't believe you posted a few weeks back that there's been no real demographic change in the last ten years. Have you actually been outside during that time? Are you an ex-pat or something?

Londonistan is not Britain. I would really prefer if they would seperate from the rest of us and become a city-state. Unfortunately I will say the same of Scotland under the S"N"P, their policy of importing gorillions of "New Scots" is absolutely mental.

The only people who can't be Scottish are the English, apparently.

Surely he must be. Nobody who lives here could be so blind as not to notice the severe demographic shift the country has been subjected to. Even smaller rural areas are overrun with Pakis and various other Wogs.
