A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Scotland absolutely fucking seething after Truss called Sturgeon an attention seeker and said the best way to deal with her and her incessant indyref2 whining, was just to ignore her.

I'm once again torn between my hatred for the Tories and my malice for the Scottish.
Truss is correct, though, Sturgeon is a snake in the grass and seems to prefer being in the news more than doing any actual graft.

The Supreme Court case voiding the UK'S appeal for the Indyref question doesn't mean anything since it will most likely lead to no. Something which I imagine almost all of the SNP know the answer to already. They will go into the next GE making the party a one issue focused manifesto which will also be ignored since Labour won't work with the SNP if they get a majority, if the lib Dems have enough to back them without SNP involvement or hell they might just let the Tories get in regardless.

An unofficial Indyref being done will most likely just be ignored with the worst case scenario being Catalonia style police involvement (which will have police from rest of UK travel up to since there won't be enough locally) and the result will be Scottish government being arrested. (Doubt there will be dissolvent of devolution but never know with clown world)

Until Independence supporters realise that the only chance of gaining independence now is through old fashioned methods of installing fear and death towards these politicians and doing it in an effective manner without notice. It's going to go nowhere. And I doubt it will without a big giant push towards such extremes.

Problem is what is the SNP without that? They're not going to change course even if they got a dozen referendums that all came back the same way.
You're fairly good on the Scottish side of things, how do you see it going?

While many of the members share many of the same ideal policies. The party is just as bureaucratic as every other mainstream party and there is a sizeable portion that don't share the same interests in policy and are only sticking around because of the big piller that's keeping the big tent up, independence. If independence is achieved I don't see these same people sticking around when greener pastures would open up from other parties that they are more likely to share their same interests with since the whole point of the SNP existing vanishes. Either the SNP members who stick around re-establishes as a new brand or it slowly fades.

In all honesty? No fucking clue. I don't expect much to change currently unless there is something going on behind the scenes/underground that is taking its time in secret or maybe most of the strings keeping this island from being on fire snaps. Both are very unlikely.

Apathy is big on this island and I'm not holding my breath on anything getting done. The Scottish Government aren't doing much to sway or exploit the current situations to their advantage.

DO IT FAGGOT. I wanna see all those politicians squirm They can't bullshit their way out of nucular war.

Still, I wonder what anti-nuclear "we must never retaliate ever what about the children abloo bloo bloo :'(:'(" spastics would say if you ask them "What about Russia?".
I'm imagining a similar reaction to asking #killallmen feminists "What about George Floyd?".

Yeah but who killed Willie?

Until the SNP accepts that the SNLA is the only way to get change, they will continue to be nothing more than an alternative to watching Eastenders.

I don't think a terrorist group that has failed in every terrorist attempt it has made is something that the SNP should accept. SNLA were so bad at doing anything right that it's comedic.

I find it funny how the jocks were totally cool with being part of Brittania while it was kicking ass and taking names, but now when it's devolving into a middling irrelevant power they want out. Never trust the Eternal Caledonian, my Saxon friends, he's just as cheap as the Jew but three times as violent.

Worst of all is the hybrid Scottish Jew.

I'm not going to embed it since it's a 2 hour audio book with only the first 30 or so being him, but one of my earliest Brian Blessed memories I never even realised it was him until later in life. He was Farm Giles of Ham in one of the Tolkein audiobooks. Listening to him play a more cowardly sort is a real treat.
Ultra late since the whole limpdick "contest" has bored me shitless, but if you want the most wonderful Brian Blessed experience, hunt out the series "The Little World of Don Camillo." He's the communist mayor and totally shreds every single scene.

The Russians have proven to be inept enough they may accidentally nuke Ireland by mistake.

Hey now, that doesn't sound all that bad...
I'm hoping they aim for England and hit Scotland.

Alright, you convinced me; I'm pro-deployment of troops into Ukraine.

I don't care if London gets hit, as long as Belfast and Edinburgh are double-tapped as well; if we can take those Celtic bastards with us, it'd have been a life worth living.
