A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Jeremy Corbyn is a fucking moron but dare I say he's a mainstream politician who's said a lot of interesting things in the past such as renationalizing our ailing services. (Seriously, have you ever taken a train in this country that's NOT fucking late?)
Yeah, he wants the country swarming with ngubus but at least he's honest about it rather than passing immigration laws he never intends to enforce and "accidentally" arresting anyone who complains.

Sorry for a double post but I am not adding this into a comment about Mr Blobby. Anyone who's been following the Star Hobson case sentencing is done. Life, minimum of 25 years, for the partner, 8 years for the mum, pathetic durations for both but since they couldn't get the mum convicted of manslaughter it was always going to be a joke.

There's not a single person I know who would shed a tear if either of these two were killed in prison and have said as much.

As a man of the Norf (Born in brum, but moved); I can also confirm that the norf is pretty low in mud concentration - not low enough mind, but still - and honestly I've been seeing more chinese than I have any other foreign ethnicity recently. York is absolutely filled with the Chinese. Probably a university thing.
With York's history it's no surprise there's a lot of outsiders there. For most of its history as a city it's been controlled by invaders - Romans, Angles, Vikings, frenchified Vikings...

I was just reading the Sun Article - the Hobson woman actually laughed after she was sentenced and one of Star's grandads killed himself from the grief.

She died when a major artery in her body was torn and she bled to death internally; it pooled into her stomach.

The mother herself apparently borders on retarded and was lazy and irresponsible throughout her baby's short life.

Why do we still consider Londoners human again?

Car ownership could end in massive overhaul of UK roads - 'at tipping point'

GOVERNMENT transport ministers have backed calls to end private ownership of vehicles in a major overhaul.

Instead, they have asked for “greater flexibility” over vehicle use with experts believing “shared transport” is the way forward. Transport minister, Trudy Harrison, said any new proposals would be “fit for the future” of road travel. It could spark the beginning of the end of petrol and diesel car ownership as the pressure rises to meet pollution targets.

She said the country needed to move away from its “20th-century thinking centred around private vehicle ownership”.
She added it was “staggering” almost two-thirds of trips were conducted by lone drivers.
Ms Harrison also added the UK was now at a “tipping point” where shared transport would soon be a “realistic option” for many.
She made the comments to delegates at the Collaborative Mobility UK transport conference.

She said: “[It will soon be a] realistic option for many of us to get around.
“Where mobility hubs become a familiar part of our street architecture, and where all these options will be available to book and pay for at the touch of a smartphone.
“The challenge is to move further and faster to make shared mobility less of a novelty and increasing the norm to make it as easy, as convenient and as accessible as possible.”
She added: “I think the benefits are really significant.

“From clean air to healthier populations to greater connectivity for more people, no matter where they live.”
The Government has repeatedly stressed the need to switch from a reliance on cars to other forms of transport.
Back in March, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said public transport would soon become the “natural first choice” instead of vehicles.
He said: "Public transport and active travel will be the natural first choice for our daily activities.

"We will use our cars less and be able to rely on a convenient, cost-effective and coherent public transport network."
The Government’s Transport Decarbonisation Plan claimed journeys below five miles represented 58 percent of all private car journeys in 2019.
They said this was one of the “biggest opportunities” to switch short car journeys to cycling and walking.
The Transport Decarbonisation Plan also called for the development of more shared mobility schemes.

Drivers may soon no longer own their vehicles (Image: Getty)
They said schemes like this would “offer an alternative to traditional mass transit”.
Schemes which could be introduced in time include more “car club” programmes.
These allow drivers access to cars for a short-term rental often by the hour.
Peer to peer sharing is also an option, where privately owned vehicles can be rented out to drivers on a short-term basis.

How exactly do they expect this to work anywhere outside of an urban center? And how does sharing a car between two parties "lower" its use? If anything it would increase emissions depending on the circumstances, not to mention it would require more frequent maintenance too.
You are assuming these are people, and not worthless drooling retards who should have been left out for the wolves as babies.

Hint: They are politicians.

Jethro has popped it. 73, not a bad innings.
Shame.

Like the Badger said, this only works in major metropolitan areas. Which is more of the usual insanity of out of touch politicians thinking the public can survive shit like this.

I was just reading the Sun Article - the Hobson woman actually laughed after she was sentenced and one of Star's grandads killed himself from the grief.

Yep. Don't get me wrong, no child's death is anything pleasant but this one is getting a visceral reaction from any functioning human who hears about it and I think Boris has a genuine chance of getting his law passed.

Of course the problem is that actual issue is social services fucking failing the children in the first place and I'm not certain what should be done in these instances. While instinctively I want everyone whose job it was to intervene there kicked in the lung when I take a rational moment I know people in that field and they do work hard to try to deal with these things and when they fail for the majority of them it hits hard. But giving them more sweeping powers could be abused, especially by the sort of lunatics documented on this site. Don't know what the right solution is.

But the great reset is just a conspiracy theory, right guys?

e: Looked into it a little more. The proposal came from Trudy Harrison, under-secretary of state for transport, which is the lowest ministerial rank in a department. She's trying to make a name for herself by proposing outlandish things. I doubt it's going anywhere.

This is she:

The turk is evidently following Caligula's lead and appointing horses to government positions.

Eric Clapton has won a case against a woman in Germany selling a bootlegged CD of a 1980s concert.

A Dusseldorf court ruled in favour of the rockstar who issued an injunction after seeing the recording for sale on Ebay for €9.95, the woman will now have to cover legal fees.

The defendant said that she did not know the recordings were illegal and therefore infringing copyright, explaining that her late-husband had gifted her the CD after purchasing it ‘at a well-known department store’.

Her appeal was rejected and the judge ruled against her, saying neither of these factors mattered.

She has also been told if she continues the sale she will face a fine of €250,000 or six months in prison.

Clapton has been the centre of controversy since the pandemic began, after speaking out against lockdowns and refusing to play venues that required proof of vaccination.

He also featured on "anti-vaxxer" Van Morrison on his song "Stand and Deliver”.

The song features the lyrics: "Do you wanna be a free man…Or do you wanna be a slave?"
For context the legal fees are about 3 grand. I personally reckon he's done more than 3 grands worth of publicity damage to himself with this.
Edit - though to be fair it sounds like she brought this to court not him, most of the news is in German so I'm struggling to be sure.

Piers Corbyn has been arrested after a video emerged appearing to show him calling for MPs’ offices to be burned down.
The video shared on social media shows the brother of former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn criticising politicians who voted for Covid restrictions.
After decrying “those scum who have decided to go ahead with introducing new fascism”, the 73-year-old Mr Corbyn tells a crowd in the video: “You’ve got to get a list of them … and if your MP is one of them, go to their offices and, well, I would recommend burning them down, OK. But I can’t say that on air. I hope we’re not on air.”

Also kek at the absolute fucking state of their editors:
The pamphlet, hand-delivered to homes in several areas in London, carried a cartoon of the extermination camp where at least 1.1 million people were murdered between 2940 and 2945.
Unless they're suggesting there's going to be a futurstic space holocaust, which you know, I'm okay with.

Apparently Christmas Number one is actually interesting this year...

Some DIY punk band re-released a dumb song that's just calling Boris Johnson a fucking cunt throughout the play time but they may be doing so well that it's actually got Ladbaby rattled.

Thought that nonce said he wasn't going to clog the charts with his shitty sausage roll songs anymore?

I hope the punk band releases a song called 'LadBaby is a Fucking Cunt' now
