A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Has anyone got a clip of the stream that got this guy sent to prison?

English football fan jailed after LIVE-STREAMING himself racially abusing Sancho, Saka and Rashford

English football supporter Jonathan Best has been jailed for 10 weeks after live-streaming racial abuse towards Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka on his personal Facebook page following England's Euro 2020 final loss.
England's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) heard that Best, 52, streamed an 18-second clip to the social media platform in which he unleashed a litany of racial abuse towards the trio of black players who missed penalties in the shootout against eventual winners Italy at Wembley Stadium in July, and was on Tuesday sentenced to the prison term.
Best, who works as a forklift driver, had previously pleaded guilty to 'sending by public communication network a grossly offensive or indecent or obscene or menacing message or matter' and had initially refused to take the offending clip down from his social media page after being reported to both Facebook and local police by a work colleague.
Facebook eventually intervened and removed the clip three days after it was posted.

"While the majority of the nation took great pride in the Three Lions reaching their first international final in more than 50 years, Jonathon Best took to Facebook to livestream a barrage of racist abuse at the three players who missed penalties during the game," said Elaine Cousins of the CPS of the case.
"He used social media to publicly vilify these three young men who tried to score for England. When approached by a Facebook friend asking him to remove the grossly offensive content, Best replied: 'It's my profile, I can do what I want.'
"There is absolutely no room in the game, nor elsewhere, for racism. The CPS is committed to bringing perpetrators of hate crime to justice where there is the evidence to do so.
"I would like to thank the individual who reported this appalling hate crime and I hope this prosecution goes some way in educating and deterring people from posting hate on social media."

News of the prosecution and subsequent sentencing comes as social media companies attempt to grapple with an alarming rise in racist messaging being sent to public figures, and especially high profile black footballers in the United Kingdom.
Manchester United's Rashford, who was one of the players targeted by Best, has detailed on numerous occasions the offensive messages he says he receives on an almost daily basis while Arsenal's Saka said that his first thought after missing the penalty against Italy was related to the immediate abuse he expected to receive on social media.
The CPS also affirmed that it is working with representatives of both the police and football bodies in a bid to solidify the requirements for criminal prosecutions of people who sent racist messages online.
"Hate crimes such as these have a massive impact on players and their mental health," said Elizabeth Jenkins of the CPS.
"The CPS takes this kind of offending very seriously and this case shows that where offensive content is reported to the police we can successfully bring offenders to justice."

"It may be only 10 weeks prison time, but for probably the next 3 - 6 years that criminal record will pop up for checks relating to future employment and visas..... Actions have consequences," said one person in reaction to the news.
"Don’t call him a football fan, call him what he is, a racist," said another.
"70 days is plenty of time to read lots of books about black history and heritage," added a third.

Prison for calling people names.
Honestly i am still surprised why neets and homeless people don't use this law to clog the prison and justice system . Couple of thousand will do mby bit more but its enough to make them wish they never put on that stupid law. I would be blasting nigger through a speaker all day on the most busiest plaza.

A: Both groups are easy candidates to die under mysterious circumstances
B: British jail is worse than being homeless (Unless you're a dirty paki. Then they shower you with free stuff and as much fifa as your monkey brain can handle)

In yet another example of Boris Johnson's talent for taking a potentially good situation and managing to fuck it up spectacularly, an MP was accused of illegally taking lobbying money, and in danger of being suspended for a month. By all accounts the investigation was pretty much a kangaroo court that was overseen by some woman who's still seething over Brexit, but there was nonetheless some pretty strong evidence of wrongdoing by the MP, Owen Paterson.

Instead of saying something like "We accept that Mr. Paterson needs to be punished for what he did, but this case has exposed obvious issues with the disciplinary process that need to be addressed", Johnson pretty much said "Nah, fuck that shit, we're just gonna overturn this punishment. And you know what, politically independent disciplinary boards are for pussies, let's replace it with one directly overseen by the government."

Well, last night Johnson managed to win the vote over the matter, but with nearly a third of his party either abstaining or voting against it. And it caused such a massive shitstorm even in the normally Conservative-supporting sections of the press that they've already abandoned the plan and are likely to let Paterson's suspension go through. They're trying to blame it on Labour and the SNP for not wanting to participate in an overhaul of the system, but still, seems like a pretty major and needless fuck-up. (I've heard Johnson might have been trying to avoid a recall and consequent special election, but everything indicates Paterson would easily win re-election in that scenario, making it an even weirder clusterfuck)

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-59163961

He put the fucking Whip on the vote as well. Couldn't leave it to be a matter of MP's conscience but had to make it a party line. One MP said she believes she lost her position because she refused to vote for this. And it might be just my impression but I think a lot of the MPs who defied him are the newer Northen MPs.

To me this is a pretty heartening thing. There may well be some case for it being a stitch up. And I feel sorry for the MP under suspicion because this has dragged on for a long time and he says that the stress of it is partly why his wife committed suicide. So I feel for him. But I also think it's a good sign that a lot of Tory MPs stick up for what they believe is right and proper process. It's the leadership of the parties that's the worst. Many rank and file MPs in the Tories and Labour are relatively decent people. (But not LibDems, of course).

Paterson has now resigned. He's trying to blame it on Labour and SNP supporters mocking him over the death of his wife - and while that's probably not completely untrue, I doubt it's fooling anyone.

And the real kicker? Yesterday a Labour MP was given a suspended prison sentence. Meaning that instead of the press having another opportunity to write about what worthless, disgusting human beings Labour and their supporters are, they've let that slip under the radar in favor of calling out Johnson on his blatant incompetence.

So this little number is going on in cricket at the moment.

Ex-England international Gary Ballance has said he "regrets" using racist language towards his former Yorkshire team-mate Azeem Rafiq.

In a lengthy and emotional statement, Yorkshire batter Ballance said he was responsible for some of the offensive terms Rafiq was subjected to during his time at Headingley.
"It has been reported that I used a racial slur and, as I told the independent enquiry, I accept that I did so and I regret doing so," said Ballance, 31.

"To be clear - I deeply regret some of the language I used in my younger years."

Ballance, who played 23 Test matches for England, said Rafiq was his "best mate in cricket" and that he "cared deeply for him", adding that "on the pitch we supported each other greatly".

"I do not wish to discredit Rafa by repeating the words and statements that he made about me and others but I have to be clear that this was a situation where best friends said offensive things to each other which, outside of that context, would be considered wholly inappropriate," added Ballance.

"I regret that these exchanges took place but at no time did I believe or understand that it had caused Rafa distress.

"If I had believed that then I would have stopped immediately. He was my best mate in cricket and I cared deeply for him. To my knowledge, it has never been alleged that I reduced Rafa to tears."

Rafiq has responded by again accusing Yorkshire of institutional racism and "abject" failures by the club's leaders.

Zimbabwe-born Ballance said he and Rafiq "remained closest friends throughout the time we exchanged these inappropriate comments" with his team-mate travelling to Zimbabwe to stay with Ballance's family. Ballance said he was also invited to Rafiq's wedding in Pakistan, which he could not attend.

He added: "That does not mean that what passed between us was right or appropriate. It was not. Rafa said things to me that were not acceptable and I did the same with Rafa. I never said anything with any intended malice or to upset Rafa."

ESPN Cricinfo published an interview with Rafiq in September 2020 in which he claimed "institutional racism" at Yorkshire County Cricket Club left him close to taking his own life, which prompted an investigation by the club.

In September this year, Yorkshire released the findings of the report, which said Rafiq was the "victim of racial harassment and bullying" with seven of the 43 allegations made by the player upheld by an independent panel.

In October, Yorkshire said it carried out its own internal investigation after the findings in the report and concluded that "there is no conduct or action taken by any of its employees, players or executives that warrants disciplinary action".

Rafiq received a heavily redacted version of the findings of the report into his allegations after Yorkshire missed the Friday, 8 October deadline by which it had been ordered to release it in full by an employment judge.

However, on Monday ESPN claimed to have seen redacted elements of the report, including that a racist term about Rafiq's Pakistani heritage was regularly used towards him but the Yorkshire report concluded it was "friendly and good-natured banter".

Earlier this week, Julian Knight MP, chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport select committee, called on the board of Yorkshire County Cricket Club to resign after a leaked report emerged apparently containing details of the investigation into the treatment of Rafiq, who left Yorkshire in 2018.

Ballance said he felt he had "no choice but to provide a public response" following media reports which, he says, offer a "misleading impression of the evidence which was heard in the investigation".

"I am aware of how hurtful the racial slur is and I regret that I used this word in immature exchanges in my younger years and I am sure Rafa feels the same about some of the things he said to me as well," he said.

"My intention, during this whole process, has been to be honest and cooperate with the independent investigation.

"In light of recent media reports it is only right, on behalf of me and my family, that I put my position in the public domain."

Rafiq report timeline

2 September 2020: Following an initial interview with Wisden,ESPN Cricinfo publish an article with Rafiq in which he claims "institutional racism" at Yorkshire County Cricket Club left him close to taking his own life.

3 September 2020: Yorkshire say they have launched a "formal investigation" into the claims made by Rafiq and chairman Roger Hutton says the club would be carrying out a "wider review" of their "policies and culture"

5 September 2020: Yorkshire ask an independent law firm to investigate racism allegations against the club by Rafiq.

13 November 2020: Rafiq says he hopes to bring about "meaningful change" after giving his first statement to the inquiry.

15 December 2020: Rafiq files a legal claim against Yorkshire "claiming direct discrimination and harassment on the grounds of race, as well as victimisation and detriment as a result of trying to address racism at the club".

2 February 2021: Yorkshire threaten a lifetime ban for anyone found to have made threats against Rafiq or his family and legal team after ESPN Cricinfo show them messages sent to Rafiq's legal firm.

17 June 2021: An employment tribunal case between Rafiq and his former club Yorkshire fails to find a resolution. The independent investigation into his racism allegations remains ongoing.

16 August 2021: Yorkshire receive the findings of an independent investigation into the racism allegations and, two days later, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) asks for a copy.

19 August 2021: Yorkshire, yet to release the findings of the report at this stage, admit Rafiq was "the victim of inappropriate behaviour" and offer him their "profound apologies".

Rafiq accuses Yorkshire of downplaying racism by calling him the victim of "inappropriate behaviour".

8 September 2021: MPs tell Yorkshire to publish the findings of the report "immediately".

10 September 2021: Yorkshire release the findings of the report, which says Rafiq was the "victim of racial harassment and bullying" and seven of the 43 allegations made by the player were upheld by an independent panel.

According to Hutton, the report said there was "insufficient evidence to conclude that Yorkshire County Cricket Club is institutionally racist".

Yorkshire released a summary of the panel's report and recommendations but said the full report could not be released for legal reasons "in relation to privacy law and defamation".

8 October 2021: Yorkshire miss a deadline to send the full report to Rafiq and his legal team after BBC Sport understands an employment judge ordered the club to release it in full by Friday, 8 October.

13 October 2021: Rafiq then receives a heavily redacted version, while the ECB says it is still awaiting the full report.

28 October 2021: Yorkshire says it carried out its own internal investigation after the findings in the report and concluded that "there is no conduct or action taken by any of its employees, players or executives that warrants disciplinary action".

2 November 2021: The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport select committee calls on Hutton to appear before it to answer questions about Yorkshire's handling of a report into Rafiq's allegations of racism.

Julian Knight MP, chair of the DCMS select committee, calls on the board of Yorkshire County Cricket Club to resign after a leaked report emerges apparently containing details of the investigation into the treatment of Rafiq.

A story published by ESPN says the report had concluded that a racially offensive term used towards Rafiq was regarded as "banter".

Knight makes his comments after UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid calls for "heads to roll" at Yorkshire and said that if the ECB did not take action "it's not fit for purpose". He further states in a Twitter post that the term allegedly used to describe Rafiq was "not banter".

3 November 2021: The date of the DCMS hearing is scheduled for 16 November and Rafiq is called to give evidence in person, along with senior Yorkshire officials.

Several sponsors, including primary sponsor Emerald Publishing and Yorkshire Tea, end their partnerships with Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

Ballance releases a lengthy statement expressing regret for using a racial slur against former Yorkshire team-mate Rafiq.
I caught a bit of it on the radio, by the sounds of it the legal experts who were looking into it when they gave their findings saying that there was no justification for disciplinary action were looking at exchanges between a pair of young athletes who were friends and said some fairly foul stuff to one another which included a racial slur. With both parties behaving badly they'd struggle to discipline one without doing the same to the other which is only going to make matter worse.

Based off Azeem's words here https://twitter.com/AzeemRafiq30/st...=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/59155576 it's not really about that. He's claiming to be going after institutional racism. But Gary's one of the ones in the cross hairs now.

Found this comment on a British YT channel I was watching:

whythehellwouldyoudothis.png

The owner of the channel quickly apologized, then deleted his apology a couple of minutes later. I'm not sure what's worse, the Britbong who decided a YT'er changing his content was the straw that broke the camel's back or the psycho wife who decided to inform the YT'er of the suicide, but then passive-aggressively tell him that he wasn't responsible for it, even though all signs point to him being responsible for it. Is this what Britain's come to now? Grown men who do a flip over some autistic content provider deciding to change it up a little? If you're going to kill yourself, at least do it over something honorable, like gambling debts.

You really think it's real and not some rətarded troll?

Im no cricket fan (I prefer grasshoppers! /dadjoke) but Yorkshire being banned for racism is the height of stupidity. The Asians (bangladeshi, Indian and pakistani) love watching England play their home country at headingly to the point where it's racist to ban England from playing there.

On a lighter note, this BBC article shows how the next generation are nothing but pussy faggots:

The frontman of a nu-metal band says he was attacked by three bouncers who pushed his head down a backstage toilet after a gig.
Bouncers are tossers and can go OTT. It just strikes me as strange that a lead singer of a metal band is complaining about this, instead of doing the metal thing and causing a riot and tearing the building down
Wargasm no longer considers Scala a safe venue, "especially for women"
Metal venue not safe for women? It's not safe for anyone.

Mosh pits are dangerous, fat ham-planets most affected.

It's still sort of fitting. Nu-metal bands and fans were definitely the kind of kids who were swirlied a lot in high school, so it's only fitting for the trend to continue into adulthood.
Wargasm no longer considers Scala a safe venue, "especially for women"
Well, it's certainly not safe for little bitches. Like nu-metal singers.

Terminally ill man arrested for mooning speed camera.

Hrm, that many officers sent for a mooning offence. While it seems plausible I think there's likely more to it. Ah there we go, it was a speed camera van and when they were taking his details he did a runner.

A terminally-ill pensioner was arrested by six police officers in his back garden after baring his bottom at a speed camera, because it was on his bucket list.

Retired university lecturer and former nurse Darrell Meekcom drew up a list of things he wanted to do before he died after being given the tragic news last month he had multiple system atrophy.

Among the items was to moon a speed camera, so last Friday the 55-year-old bared his bottom to a mobile police speed van in Kidderminster, Worcestershire.

But the officer behind the wheel of the unit failed to see the funny side and flagged the incident as an 'indecent exposure'.

Just 20 minutes later, three police cars pulled up outside the home of Mr Meekcom - who also has Parkinson's Disease and heart and kidney problems - and demanded to be let in.

When the disabled father-of-two refused, officers allegedly raided his home and kicked down the garden gate before wrestling Mr Meekcom to the ground outside to put him in cuffs.

In footage filmed by his wife, Mr Meekcom, who used to lecture medical students at Birmingham City University, can be heard telling the officers, 'Have you never wanted to moonie a speed camera? Well I did.'

Mr Meekcom was subsequently arrested and hauled to the station, before being released under investigation.

Mobile phone footage filmed by wife Sarah, 36, a nurse, shows Mr Meekcom calmly telling officers: 'I'm terminally ill, I won't be able to breathe like this.

'This is ridiculous - I moonied a speed camera. I moonied a speed camera.'

One female officer can be heard replying: 'Well that is a significant statement that you have just made to us.'

Mr Meekcom is then heard responding: 'I'm quite happy to say that because it was one off my bucket list.

'I've just been diagnosed with multiple system atrophy. I'm terminally ill, I've got a very short time to live and it was one off my bucket list.

'Have you never wanted to moonie a speed camera? Well I did.'

Wheelchair-user Mr Meekcom, of Kidderminster, later said: 'I was simply gobsmacked that I got arrested for mooning a speed camera.

'It is something I had always wanted to do because I'd been caught by them a couple of times for silly speeds like 35mph in a 30 zone and it always bugged me.

He said about six officers arrived at his home a short time later asking to be let in and when he refused, his garden gate was kicked in and the officers got him to the ground to cuff him.
He said his wife filmed the "frightening" incident during which Mr Meekcom told the officers he was terminally ill and would struggle to breathe. He said he also suffered a blow to the head.
"I did not resist arrest once and I felt the response was completely disproportionate in the circumstances," he said.
Mr Meekcom, who felt unwell and went to hospital after his release from custody, said he has reported the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
West Mercia Police spokesman said officers received a report of indecent exposure on Stourbridge Road at about 13:00 GMT on 5 November and located a person of interest in Coiey Close.
"A 55-year-old man from Kidderminster was arrested on suspicion of public order offences and released on bail."
'When I was given the diagnosis last month, my wife suggested drawing up a bucket list and that was one of the items on there that I've now crossed off at some price.'

He dropped his trousers at a mobile speed camera van on Stourbridge Road while his wife went to buy some bread from a nearby Tesco Express.

'I got out the car and flashed my bum. I pulled my trousers up and got back in the car. I didn't think anything of it, it was a good laugh.'

'I came home and within 20 minutes there was a police van outside,' he said. 'They were banging on the window.

'Within another five minutes three squad cars turned up. I said to my wife there's no way I'm going out there. I hadn't done anything wrong.

'I was too scared to go out. It was quite frightening really.'

Mr Meekcom says he eventually went outside as officers stormed his garden and was brought to the ground where he claims he suffered a blow to the head.

He was arrested and taken into custody and has since been released under investigation on suspicion of indecent exposure and dangerous driving.

Mr Meekcom said: 'Despite coming out to the police to give myself up they destroyed my front door and smashed the back gate to pieces.

'They grabbed my hands and I'm saying I'm not resisting, I'm giving myself up. There were six of them restraining me trying to get their arms up my back.

'All this for mooning a speed camera. My release from custody notice also says dangerous driving which is also ridiculous.

'I drove off when the speed camera van started taking my details but I assure you there was nothing dangerous about it. Its honestly all just baffling.

'The custody sergeant said an officer would be around to officially charge me but I'm just waiting now to see what happens.'

Mr Meekcom, who has two girls aged 10 and eight, was diagnosed with multiple system atrophy (MSA) last month, a terminal condition which affects the nervous system.

He says the life expectancy following a diagnosis of MSA is around six years, although this varies from person to person.

After he was released from custody later in the day, his vision was blurred and he also suffered two seizures.

He went to Kidderminster Hospital and was later referred to Worcestershire Royal Hospital due to fears he suffered a bleed to the brain.

Mr Meekcom added: 'I feel like I have been abused. It was outrageous bullying.

'They saw me as a big fellow. They maybe perceived me as a threat but because of my illnesses at five-year-old child could knock me over.

'I have MSA, heart disease, kidney failure and Parkinson's Disease - I'm a threat to nobody. I use a wheelchair and need a zimmer frame to get out of bed.

'They could have killed me very easily and even when I calmly explained the situation they carried on restraining me and cuffing me from behind.

'They did not even provide care for me when I was in custody despite my various conditions and suffering a blow to the head.

'I did not resist arrest once and I felt the response was completely disproportionate in the circumstances.

'They were all young officers, there was no senior officers involved and if I think there was the situation would have been managed must better.

'At one point I took a photo of one officer goading me through the window, it was like they were laughing at me and knew what they were going to do.

'I feel it was an abuse of police power and privilege.'

Mr Meekcom, who also has a bungee jump and parachuting on his bucket list, says he has reported the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: 'Around 1pm on Friday, November 5, officers received a report of indecent exposure on Stourbridge Road.

'Officers attended and after a search of the area, located a person of interest in Coley Close.

'A 55-year-old man from Kidderminster was arrested on suspicion of public order offences and released on bail.

'Enquiries are ongoing.'

So the chain of events went as follows;
Mooned police camera van
The people in it attempted to take his details at which point he did a runner in the car
They found his home, instructed him to come out and he refused and began taking photos of them
Since they're a police speed van they've got some units on call rang for them since at this point the guy's acting like a nutter. They know he mooned them, they've followed him home, he's getting a fine. The fact that he's refusing to engage with them and, being we don't see his side of the exchange, almost certainly cursing up a storm and acting unhinged makes him seem potentially drunk which if he was driving they kind of need to address
He continues to refuse to let them in
They according to him destroy his front door (no pictures) and smashed the back gate to pieces
50252717-10181593-image-m-60_1636459898599.jpg

Impressively clean breaks there
At this point he allegedly complete cooperates with being arrested but for some reason they end up on the ground
He goes online to tell his version of events

I judge this power tripping police, asshole victim (who still has my sympathy for his health conditions) and everyone involved being idiots. Frankly he should have stood his ground at the time of the initial incident, let them have his details and accepted the fine. He was in a car at the time, they already had enough info from that to find him and he could have easily spun a sob story from that that would have likely gotten the fine dismissed or paid for by the internet.

I'm also curious about the following collection of facts;
Ex university lecturer
55 years old
36 year old wife

Can't find anything about where he lectured online, I've no doubt the tabloids will dig up if there's anything more there though.
