A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

(More words added because the faggot mods selectively enforce rules and I don’t want banned again with the gayest most crying arse message from the cheese botherer after they went crying to him like the last time.)
The Greggs thread is a DESIGNATED HIGH QUALITY DISCUSSION ZONE for the purpose of CONTENT AGGREGATION and you vill repslect this.
When are we getting the flag here fixed btw, will it be before or after the economy of the Ulcerated Sphincter of Arse-erica nosedives like a chinaman before a line of smack?

Why are people crying about the Trump tariffs are people who love the EU?

Trump has treated us better and with more respect than the EU after Brexit. He could have anally raped us but didn’t.

I don't know how you get banned from kiwifarms but I would love to see that play out.
Try tagging Dear Sneeder constantly. Bonus points if your post contains watermelons.

In fact, tag him as the only word in your watermelon post. There is a non-zero chance you will get your wish. There is also a non-zero chance you won't love seeing it play out.

Oh noes, you mean he’ll have to create another account and lose all those heckin’ updoots and stickers?

I heard that’s worse than death!

I',m actually not autistic, although because I did a degree in Psychology, apparently many people self-diagnosed themselves as ADHD or autistic-so I know a lot? None of them suck their toes or watch Thomas the Tank engine tho...

@Mound Dweller stop being such a miserable cunt, I just had my mums funeral today and you don't see me rating posts as autistic... <3 My mums funeral wasn't autistic, it was lovely.

Assuming they're not an EU-balls gargler, it might just be a general hatred of America, or a disliking/wariness of anyone that isn't the UK.

Trump's good to us, but would the guy after him be just as kind? America has a precedent of intervening in affairs on behalf of our enemies and against our interests (Suez crisis), declaring neutrality in wars of defence (Falkland war), and then roping us into wars with no popular support whatsoever (Iraq war). That's not to mention being downwind of all their cultural shit, with things like BLM, gay marriage, and trannies all becoming major issues in our political and societal discourse once they had permeated in America. BLM might've contributed to the sentencing guidelines being proposed at the moment, our Conservative government legalised gay marriage a year before America did, and trannies... well, we actually got a W on that issue before America, so that's good. 2-1

However, the EU has been around for a shorter amount of time but has done more domestic damage, arguably. They've contributed to fucking us economically with restrictions and regulation (fishing is a well-known example), fucking our energy production (20-20-20 package) but their laws and rulings also impacted how we ran our country and how we could deal with asylum seekers and immigrants. The EU's human rights laws were the primary reason why the (admittedly retarded) Rwanda scheme couldn't take off, since it was considered 'abusive' and thus a violation, and trying to stop immigrants bringing over all their extended family might be considered a violation too. Even after leaving, we're still subject to a lot of their shit and past agreements.

They've both fucked us in different ways over the years. I think at the moment being in America's corner will prove more beneficial but it shouldn't come at letting your guard down. In the end, it's optimal to treat both entities like you would an immigrant (Or a Scot): Be suspicious: Assume they're selfish and have an agenda. And if they prove themselves to be a model minority, still keep an eye over your shoulder — you never know if they're going to explode (or pull out a blade in a heroin + special brew-infused rage).
US split from UK because did not want to be ruled by a King.
It's also ironic because most of what pissed America off to split in the first place was the result of an elected institution. (Stamp Act (1765), Townshend Acts (1767), Tea Act (1773)) all passed and voted for in Parliament. I think the "No taxation without representation" part of their revolution kind of fell by the wayside for the simplified "No kings" sentiment, which might be loudest on this site in particular because it's the easiest thing to parrot when they want to give a diatribe about why they hate the UK or some shit. Maybe it has something to do with America controlling territory with people they tax, but have no representation in government (Guam, Puerto Rico, Samoa), lel.
