A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Article seems more outraged about her not filing £188 for the top ups properly than what she might have been saying on it.
In fairness when you are talking about someone being investigated for financial irregularities these sort of things are important. When it also covers a means of communication, which I believe for ones correctly purchased via the government route have additional requirements about what you can and can't do with them including deleting your message trails, getting into the details is necessary.

Is Starmer's daughter a TIF? I'd not heard this story before.

Surprisingly her name has never been made public, even though her brother's has. I'd look it up but ancestry.co.uk only goes up to 2007, and I don't know of another free birth search place.

I'm sure it was an accidental misgendering of the misgendering. I tend to stick to "it" in these situations. That way, one can be sure of offending everyone at least a little.
No such thing as a misgender if you truly and honestly believe what you're saying, as has happened at least twice now when this shit actually goes to court the dudes in dresses get told very politely to fuck off. Hopefully we get fresh lolsuit content to cement this.

He's in the Thames ! ( If you're desperately trying to save face )

"No body has been found and officers said one may never be recovered." - How convenient. Can I be one of the people being paid at the public's expense to still search for him ? Obviously I'll be doing it remotely from home, whilst drinking tea and eating biscuits.

Great, so they can't find him and are going to pretend he's dead instead.
I hope some well meaning plod who didn't get the memo picks him up in a few months time committing another crime.

Ezedi is severely injured enough that without medical attention (and no, I don't mean a sand people band-aid) he will probably die. So the coppers are probably not wrong about this.

But someone quite possibly hid him from police until he died. And there seems to be a lack of interest in determining whether or not that is the case.

They still haven't brought the woman round from sedation.

Brilliant.
Question a Palestinian flag and plod will be all over you like spots on a chav, but chuck acid in a few faces and you can turn into Schrodinger's muslim.
Fucking marvelous.

Funny. Because I remember some poor British grandmother getting assaulted by a troon (Tania Woolf?) in Hyde Park a few years ago and the judge specifically reprimanding her for calling her assailant "he" and factoring that into the leniency granted her assailant.

Such is the power of ye courte of law, has to be an equalities legislation approved "honestly held belief" and all that shit.
Like how some areas of certain boroughs have none of the houses paying any council tax because of the place of worship exemption, freeman of the land bollocks is still trash but has (semantic) roots in actual law, all how it gets worded and such.
I fucking hate king John for not being strong enough to smother this.

Four boys, aged 12, 13. 14 and 14 are arrested for the rape of a girl in Rochdale.

Probably happened in a dirty room above a kebab shop.

And it is rare for the police to arrest anyone in Rochdale for rape, isn't it?

Never bet Muslim when chav is also an option. Especially when the rape happened in a Morrison's car park. Also Jesus fucking Christ.

Four boys have been arrested on suspicion of rape in Rochdale, police have said.
Greater Manchester Police said the boys, aged 12, 12, 13 and 14, were held after a "young female" reported being raped in the Newbold area at about 18:00 GMT on Saturday.
The force said the four boys remain in custody for questioning.
It added that the child who reported the attack who was "currently being supported by specialist officers".

A representative said forensic officers had been at a scene on Kingsway and a police dog team had been used to search undergrowth in the area.
The area, which has been cordoned off, lies in a supermarket car park, about 330ft (100m) from the store entrance and about 165ft (50m) from the Newbold Metrolink tram stop.
The force has appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time of the reported attack or may have information about what happened to get in touch.

Thank you for pointing the facts out.

The "news" report I saw had little information on it, despite it being published at the same time as the others.

My comment was based on the grooming gangs that operate within Rochdale with impunity. I wrongly assumed that these were the offsprings of groomers. Not entirely implausible, is it.

There were quite a few vague ones, I actually only found the news articles with clearer facts after initially posting.

I'm not ruling out Muslims but chavs are often a fair guess. Which also doesn't rule out them being the offspring of groomers given a sideline hobby for a lot of men in those communities is knocking up teenagers.

Speaking of Rochdale though seems we're back to the anti-Semitism row for Labour. Not that it matters since that shit's a vote winner in that area.

Labour is facing criticism for standing by a parliamentary candidate who has been forced to apologise for suggesting that Israel allowed Hamas’s 7 October attacks to take place to provide grounds to invade Gaza.
The comments made by Azhar Ali, the party’s candidate in the Rochdale byelection, have threatened to reignite the damaging row over antisemitism in the Labour party that blighted Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.

“This man does not belong in a major political party, let alone in parliament, yet Labour is, incredibly, still backing his candidacy after a quick apology,” said Joe Glasman, the head of political and government investigations at Campaign Against Antisemitism.
“This is distressingly familiar to days that Sir Keir Starmer promised were behind us. This is not tearing antisemitism out ‘by its roots’.”
Ali apologised for the “deeply offensive” remarks after he was recorded telling a meeting of the Lancashire Labour party that Israel had deliberately relaxed security after warnings of an imminent threat.
The recording, obtained by the Mail on Sunday, had Ali saying: “The Egyptians are saying that they warned Israel 10 days earlier … Americans warned them a day before [that] … there’s something happening. They deliberately took the security off, they allowed … that massacre that gives them the green light to do whatever they bloody want.”
Ali, a Lancashire county councillor and former government adviser who was made an OBE in 2020 for public service, has since apologised “unreservedly to the Jewish community” for the comments, which he acknowledged were “deeply offensive, ignorant and false”.
He said: “Hamas’s horrific terror attack was the responsibility of Hamas alone, and they are still holding hostages who must be released.”
He promised to “urgently apologise to Jewish leaders for my inexcusable comments”, saying that “the Labour party has changed unrecognisably under Keir Starmer’s leadership”.
The party has stood by him, with its national campaign coordinator, Pat McFadden, saying that Ali’s comments were “completely wrong” and did not represent the party’s view. But he told Sky News: “He’s issued a complete apology and retraction. And I hope he learns a good lesson from it because he should never have said something like that in the first place.”
The party’s shadow minister without portfolio, Nick Thomas-Symonds, told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that Ali had fallen for a conspiracy theory, and that his apology should be taken at face value. “Councillor Ali has apologised unreservedly, he’s retracted those remarks, and he’s also shown a sense of the gravity of the offence that has been caused, and the need now to do tremendous amounts of work to rebuild trust with the Jewish community, which is going to be absolutely essential. So it’s for those reasons that he hasn’t been suspended.”
Mike Katz, the national chair of the Jewish Labour Movement, said his group would not campaign in Rochdale because Ali had “destroyed his past record of allyship with the Jewish community” with his “totally reprehensible” comments.

But he stopped short of calling on Labour to drop the candidate, warning that the “alternative in Rochdale is George Galloway”, whose victory would “harm the Jewish community far more than electing Ali”.
He added: “We know how far the party has come under Keir Starmer in tackling antisemitism and that the party, from Starmer down, is as shocked and disgusted by Ali’s comments as we are.”
The deadline to remove Ali from the ballot paper has passed, but the party could withdraw campaign support.
The Conservatives have called for the aspiring MP’s campaign to be suspended and his Labour party membership removed. The cabinet minister Michael Gove said: “Sir Keir Starmer cannot continue to support this candidacy.”

It's interesting to compare this to the way they treat gender critical sorts. Here, it's a few days and a statement from Labour that they support him even though they consider some of his views "unacceptable". With the gender criticals, it doesn't matter what they say or do afterwards, or how many apologies they offer; they're frozen out, excluded, and called nazis by the same people that treat this guy with kid gloves.

Given the ages, at least two of these boys are related, and I'll give you better than 50/50 that they are travellers.

They're sweating bullets over a possible collapse/mass defection of the Asian vote in the next GE, already happened a little bit with the local elections (but who gives a fuck about bin collections) where a number of should-of-wins turned into barely scraping bys or surprise tory survivals.
They aren't quite at that critical double digit % in most places but a solid few thousand worth of confirmable support is very much up in the air if they don't play their cards right, as in if sir keef ever grows a spine and puts his foot down he'll get the curry flavoured version of the SDP/cuckUK2 I reckon, this would mean dooom so I hope it happens.
