A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Back in the Vape Nation days of big clouds and battery mods it was still primarily a thing for people to quit smoking and you could select the nicotine level of juices. Pretty much every juice was available in say 12mg, 6mg, 3mg, and 0mg. There was no restrictions on 0mg juice and you could get them on Amazon.

These newer expensive capsule things the kids are now addicted to are exactly what the anti-vaping crowd warned about. Kids are dumb.

Zero deaths reported yesterday for covid
Experts say we should end restrictions to avoid a third wave.
A third wave when there's no deaths?

come on
See? It works!

Don't throw away what it took to get here!

I remember when I quit smoking almost 20 years ago, you could get nicotine lollipops at any (reasonable) strength or flavor you wanted. I liked these although it wasn't entirely reasonable to shut it down. Seriously, that could send a kid to the hospital or worse if they got a hold of it. Definitely better than that nasty ass gum.

I'm trying as hard as I can not to turn into a conspiracy theorist about this, but I feel like I'm going crazy here - how the fuck have I not caught Covid at this point??

I've taken zero precautions, flew to fucking Tanzania for New Year's - a country that doesn't even think Covid exists - I've gone to the pub almost every day for the Euros, I've gone to restaurants, I've gone to the theatre, I've even been to pissing London. This has been circulating for a year and a half and I still have never caught it.

What's it gonna take?

Also, just to check, is anyone else not doing track and trace? I always just take out my phone and take a picture of the QR code, haven't been called out on it anywhere yet.

The peak was last year, everything after has been scaremongering.

Sorry for double posting, but this story's pretty funny.

Tree cut in half after neighbour row over pigeon poo.
Nice find. And it also yielded this for me;

Covid: The man who tested positive for Covid 43 times

Scientists are studying the case of a man in Bristol who has recovered from 290 days being positive with SARS-CoV-2.
Dave, 72, is a driving instructor and musician who's spent the last 10 months with an active coronavirus infection, visiting hospital seven times. His immune system was vulnerable to the virus after a leukaemia diagnosis and chemotherapy treatment.
Dave was eventually treated with a new mixture of anti-viral drugs provided by the US company Regeneron on compassionate grounds.
Now scientists at the University of Bristol are studying Dave's case to try and understand how Covid acts and mutates within the body.

Which presumably answers this too.

If this guy had it for close to year you might have had it a few times too and not noticed since you are presumably not 70 years old, afflicted with leukaemia and undergoing chemotherapy while also living the life you described.

Or, more likely, they used oversensitive tests that can show a positive result from a fresh slice of cucumber.

Hundreds overcharged by thousands at Brighton Pier.

I thought it was going to be them adding up the total across hundreds to make thousands. Instead they literally were charging people more than two grand for entry. Good grief.

Or, more likely, they used oversensitive tests that can show a positive result from a fresh slice of cucumber.
By the description the guy's immune system could not have fought off anything, he probably did have it for nearly a year though the sheer amount of time he was in the hospital meant Covid could not make much headway.

Apparently in the run-up to this week's by-election somebody is leafleting houses fraudulently claiming this to be official Labour Party material:

Of course this type of behaviour should be discouraged. Having said that, Labour DOES support this type of stuff, and Keir Starmer DID take the knee, they just don't advertise it as they understand it's a vote loser. At this point I wonder what the reaction will be since for all the pundits decrying Tories for 'stoking a culture war' Boris and co. wouldn't have such an oven-ready deflection if Labour stopped taking actions that only serve to make millions quietly hate them.

Keir Starmer has totally failed in renewing the party's brand. Labour continue to lose the centre while also failing to cleanse itself of the Corbyn wing (whilst simultaneously making war on it).

Oh fuck me, I wish I'd thought of that. Now if only there were some way to mention his tenure as head of the crown prosecution service.

""Sir" Kier Stamer helped cover up grooming gangs" works well. Most people know the story so mentioning his position at the time, his not very distant connection and a few figures around the number of rapes tends to have most people asking why he was not on trial alongside them.
