A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Nah this seems like a defence of him rather than an endorsement of the bill, Sadiq did say if he was an MP he wouldn't vote in favour of it, but that was accompanied by a little bit of wokery with the comment about male violence, so who knows.

Either way, he doesn't want Steve Bray silenced because he agrees with him.

If he actually believes that then it sounds like he leans towards favouring free speech over hurt feelings.

It's all kicking off in Bristol, "peaceful protesters" have smashed windows at a police station and set a police van alight in a protest against the latest crime bill

From BBC this morning:

On Monday Avon and Somerset Police chief constable Andy Marsh said: "People are not standing up and identifying the organisers.
"There were about 3,000 people at the protest when it started at College Green. That came down to about 400-500 who decided to take it in a violent direction outside Bridewell (Police Station).
"By the time it got to 17:30 GMT we had 300 officers there. It was 01:30 before we dispersed them and restored some order to the streets of central Bristol."
He said police officers had made seven arrests and would be releasing "hours of CCTV footage" to the media.
"We will be asking for the people of Bristol to identify these thuggish citizens so we can bring them to justice
."

Lol, where the hell was this language during Floydfest 2020?? Oh I see, you only care when it's your shit getting smashed up, not public statues.

Sturgeon got cleared by the lawyer at least and the Scottish Greens have already confirmed they will not support a vote of no confidence.

SNP are also working on the plans for the next independence referendum

Guess what the Scottish Greens support? Between them and the loser in Scottish Labour's new leadership suggesting splitting from Lanbour in the rest of the UK I am guessing there's some optimism about taking over when the SNP drive an independent Sctoland face first into the group.

Edit. And Liverpool still looks up in the air after the mayor was charged with corruption the possibility of commissioners being installed;

They did the same thing with Rotheram following the grooming gang issue occurred and only recently returned their powers (2019).

Specifically when they agree with him and anything else is a deliberate target against him because of his race/religion and thus illegal.

E: Someone post that clip where he got a question he didn't like so he cut the microphone

Bristol is the Portland of the UK, full of the great unwashed ACAB/wannabe anarchist student cunts with rich parents who were too stupid or lazy to study hard enough to get into a proper university. They threw the statue of a "white colonialist slave trader" in their town square into a river last year during all the BLM bullshit, it's both hilarious and tragic how hard they're trying to ape our American cousins.
I always thought Bristol was meant to be one of those high quality math/business universities that ends up with a bunch of Chinese expats, but in the last few years there seem to be stories about its staff and Student Union doing a bunch of insane shit popping up everywhere... Though every university in the UK seems like that at this point, I can see a lot of sane people just attending the Open University in the future.

foreign nationals and refugees will have the vote.

The fucking state of the snp.
Imagine giving the vote to people who can leave the moment thing get even worse. So are they gonna fill in the ballot form for the refugees? I don’t see how thousands of voting for something when they don’t speak a word of English can go wrong at all.
I’m sure the people they get into help the doctors, lawyers and engineers will make them understand the complexity of the issue so they can make and informed decision on the matter.

Is ballot harvesting legal, illegal or a grey area in bongland?

I mean if there breaking the act of union by trying to unilaterally take command of the referendum over westminster then what's another illegality

I can see it being just another Catalonia. Westminster refuses to acknowledge it so the result is meaningless, be it with real or fudged votes.
It's just a last hail mary before the vote of no confidence evicts Sturgeon

Votes going to fail. Greens won't support it, SNP won't bend.
