A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The fact we have “guidelines” for sentences instead of just a straight up sentence has always annoyed me massively. A four month suspended sentence they may as well have found him innocent.

It's an attempt to combat the ridiculous quota and rule based economy of literally everything else in government and afford employees some actual agency.
The only problem is that judges are massively overpaid sub-humans who are given final say on most cases with no oversight.

Now now, that is not what is happening. Currently, they are going to write a letter to 10D to see if something can be done about it. What will happen is no one will touch this steaming pile of shit and it will be hoofed from one end of Whitehall to the other for years, and slowly picked clean till nothing remains. Not to mention, this is coming from the Reds, and the Blues are fully aware that their complete domination of the voting game was down to avoiding this woke shit. Old Red is still trying to appease the twitter trannies and grifting niggers that its forgot most normal people fucking hate this kind of shit.

In short, very little will happen, and it will be years down the road when the original concept has been shagged to nothingness. Remember, the UK Gov is amazing at fucking shit up, that includes things like this.

To who exactly? It’s impossible to determine at this point who is a descendant of slaves. Even then where does the money come from?

Perhaps Bristol city council could have given black people some of the £15m of taxpayer money they wasted by setting up a failing energy company that no one asked for.

The fact that the fucking corrupt dimwit Marvin Rees is a dead cert to be re-elected as Mayor in the upcoming elections, for the sole reason that he's the Labour candidate and black, really boils my piss. I mean, how badly do you need to fuck up to get voted out these days?

I've defended Rees previously since he's been fairly firm in the past about having no interest in the drama and instead being focused on trying to fit the shitshow currently there in his city. I'd still defend him in this case since if the majority of elected underlings want this he can't go fucking draconian and tell them to pound sand but it's not a good look.

Also, because this needs mentioning every time the UK talks about reparations. Even after we outlawed slavery we were still sending poor or orphaned children to settler colonies where in many number of cases they were slaves in all but name up until the 1970s (bonus points, the oh-so-woke Canadians continue to refuse to apologise for their involvement);


How about we pay reparations to all of them first? Oh I know, because that, much like the workhouses, was a rich/poor divide and as such we can't talk about it. Hell someone should campaign for that if this goes through, I believe it's something like 10% of the country that has a connection to the workhouses and given we've had recent proof that it's poor white males being failed by the education system the most it might help redress that.

Why not? That's exactly what he did when it came to relocating the Bristol arena from the city center to a site way out of town. One that just so happens to be owned by his chums YTL - a Malaysian infrastructure conglomerate that he's flown out to visit multiple times.

Like I said, he's a corrupt arsehole, but he'll still be voted back in in May. I'll be voting Lib Dem, solely because they've pledged to abolish the elected mayor position altogether. It's an expensive waste of money, especially when we've got a West of England Combined Authority Mayor as well. Anyway, I doubt anyone else reading the thread has any interest in this, so I'll leave it there.

Did he overrule a similar majority then? Note I agree to the dodginess of the work going to any conglomerate he has pre-existing relationship with.

I'd be interested since it's always helpful to know more. Those fragments of the Red Wall still remaining are unlikely to flip despite increasing evidence of why they should but it's handy to know reasons why they absolutely should under current Labour.

I understand why she's scared, if most men saw that face approaching them in the dark they'd either run away in fear or punch it and run away in fear.

I don't think she explained how discriminating against men would help prevent discrimination though.
 
Kew gardens is wasting time and money on changing their plant signs to tell people if they were harvested using the slave trade, y'know not like it's not common knowledge and that there are better places to learn about it if you didn't already somehow not know that simple fact. I mean who want's to go to a garden to learn about plants? Nah I want a human history brief! Perhaps add more details about the plant? and it's relationship with other plants in it's ecosystem and it's ecosystem in general? What no? That's too hard and it doesn't make you feel good? ah well slavery it is then.

English & Welsh Green party. The Scottish Greens are a separate entity and don't allow anyone who's a lord to join and would kick out anyone that attempts to do so.

Not that I'm saying they haven't got their fair share of fucking halfwits and nonsense but the Scottish Greens are a slightly to more level-headed than the rUK counterparts from comparing the two's past history.

That being said. A 6PM Curfew for males is pretty much from the loony bin of ideas so it's fitting for a Green.
