A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The Czech republic, a lot of YouTubers are based out of Prauge, cosmopolitan European city with a high standard of living, worrying lack of diversity though.
Makes sense, though I think the Czech Republic is becoming somewhat more diverse. It's probably the least nationalistic of all the Eastern European nations, though that's only a guess.

I need a catch up here because something has happened that I’m clearly not aware of.

The EU are screaming at Astra-Zeneca because they don't have enough Coof vaccines on the continent, saying that they're in breach of the contract they signed.

The attached is excerpts from the contract, posted to tell the EU to get fucked, it's being followed.

Semi-related, but I took a solo holiday to Prague during my BA for 5 days back in 2018. I could have counted on one hand the amount of black, Muslim, or otherwise middle-eastern people I saw on one hand. Together.

It was fucking great.

You may be surprised but this is not only not unique, it is virtually identical to how every vaccine rollout in history has played out since polio. Vaccine manufacturers are quite literally immunized (lol) from every possible form of liability, because otherwise nobody would make vaccines. It would be impossible to turn a profit on it.

If you're somehow harmed by a vaccine you can't sue. You do have access to a sort of administrative court in most cases where they just decide how harmed you were and give you money, much like in asbestos cases. I bet you didn't know this. But now you do.

Guess what the EU can do? If you guessed it involved dicks and eating them you'd be right.

The EU can place export controls on material used for vaccine manufacture. The majority of the Astra Zeneca vaccines used in the UK are actually manufactured in Belgium.

The EU got fixated on the cost of the vaccine, the idea being that if they pooled all the EU's buying power they'd get a good price. Which they did, but in reality the difference in cost between £11 and £4 a dose is pretty negligible when set against the cost of lockdown.

It didn't help that the French insisted that the Pasteur Institute get EU funding to develop their own vaccine which was a dead end.

Yet looking at their woeful vaccination rates, blamed on shortages, they'd be pretty fuckin' retarded to do so, even by EU standards!

EU imposes export ban on AstraZenica vaccine

ahahaha, it hurt itself in its confusion

Lol no. It's the Belgian plant thats struggling with producing enough vaccine to fill the EU's orders. That's why they want to divert stock made in the UK to the EU. This export ban is just petty punitive action. All it's going to do is send a message to pharma companies that they'd be better setting up shop in Switzerland or the UK - territories that won't impose export bans.

Yeah the vaccine slap fighting is already pretty inspirational. Most of the articles around it earlier in the week sounded like an exaggeration about how prissy the EU was being. Then they threatened to withhold the AstraZenica vaccine before following through with the export ban. If I am remembering correctly I believe the UK response so far has been to shrug and contact AstraZenica directly about alternative arrangements if the EU will refuse to meet the agreed amount. Might be more details in the Happenings thread.

A society promoting legendary outlaw Robin Hood has seen a huge surge in its social media following from people confusing it with the US stock trading platform Robinhood.
The World Wide Robin Hood Society promotes the tales of the hero and his connections with Nottinghamshire.
More than 33,000 people began following the group on Twitter in 24 hours.
It comes as the trading platform with the same name curbed buying of shares in US electronics shop GameStop.
Robinhood hit the headlines for restricting the firm's trading shares, causing outrage among Americans buying the company's stock with the aim of pushing up the price.

The society started Thursday with under 400 Twitter followers, but now has more than 33,000.
A tweet hoping to clear up any confusion among its new followers then led to an even bigger jump in popularity.
One new follower said the social media spike "is the funniest thing to come out of this GameStop rollercoaster", while another said: "Spare a thought for the Robin Hood Society in Sherwood's social media person today."

Lisa Douglas, who runs the social media for World Wide Robin Hood Society, said the increase in interest had been "a complete and utter surprise", and with Nottingham Castle due to reopen after renovations, she hopes it brings a boost to the city.
"We've known about Robinhood for quite a long time because we've been getting quite mean messages from their frustrated customers, but it just went absolutely crazy," she said.
"What we're going to do now is really build on the website and build of the Twitter side of it, because if you've got this many followers you've got a responsibility to keep them entertained and informed.
"We're going to be busy I think over the next few months."

Worse than that, they're demanding A-Z's UK stockpiles be turned over to the EU under penalty of prosecution/fines as compensation on top of badmouthing them for non-existant contract breeches, to which the UK has been saying "piss off" as it's clear this is just another case of the EU trying to be petty and obstructionist to the UK in any way it can to get revenge on it freeing itself from their bureaucratic yoke, this only being the most pathetic example since EU customs started confiscating UK trucker's lunches since their ham sandwiches didn't meet the bloc's" imported food-safety standards", even if they were for personal use only...

Best thing is, this has redpilled a ton of Remainers.

Right now, the EU's modus operandi is to do the strictest possible thing whenever the UK is involved, and then walk it back by painfully small degrees only and unless they get called out on being retarded.... like 2021 Democrats, they're transparently out for revenge, dressed-up as just following laws.... and are showing everyone what a bunch of pissbabies they are when they don't get their way in their naked quest for power to legally crush wrongthinkers.

EU squandered it's time in it's self created burocratic nightmare while the UK approved and invested into it's local factories. Nevermind the fact the UK signed it's contract with A-Z way before the EU and they only got around to voting on it's approval today.

The EU is basically a strength focus, derisively laughing that the UK is weak and puny without them.

Shame the UK put it's points into agility and became a fucking ninja, huh?
