A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

You're all still niggers and I still really like you. Don't be downhearted! I know everything is shit just like you do. There will be a way out of this, I am sure! My nan said the same thing. She said it will end up okay. Because it has to.

Initially I was doubting you, but damn. Your nan said that? Can't really argue with that.

Reminder, people thought they were normal. Seriously, just try to make Cherie’s face and pose.

I want to know what it's like to talk to him, or eg Obama. Do they have so much charisma you're dazzled? And you wake up and it's three days later and you're holding the votang tikkit? I mean, could a normal person engage in conversation with them and have their settings unaffected?

That's a shame. I won't be able to shit in the women's toilet near HR anymore.

It's great seeing them scuttle out of their glass panel office to question, in a very kareny tone, "Why are you using the womens toilets?!" Only to watch them shrink inside themselves when you wryly smile with the answer "I identify as a woman".

They know you don't, you know they know you don't but by the rules of HR, they can't say shit.
Part of this is because stock rotation and re-stocking is no longer done at night. Staff doing the yellow label rounds have to run the gauntlet of people trying to fight for reduced stuff and they're now constantly putting away deliveries in the day time because it's cheaper to do this and expect day staff to multitask than it is to employ night workers decorated solely to deliveries, stock rotation and deep cleaning as they're going.
It's niggers. I made a post a while back about how a fresh off of the boat wog was wanging packs of cheese on the shelf like a mong with a frisbee.
All of the white women have been moved off of the fridge aisles; milk, cheese, meat etc and have been replaced by sambas.

Even if they could read the label and understand the concept of date and time, they wouldn't give a shit.
I know I bang on about it but this penny pinching by big supermarkets
Caused by COVID. Where I lived they shut the 24/7 supermarkets at 22:00, which made it a pain in the arse shopping when on night shift, or if I just wanted to avoid people, and many have never gone back.

It's a shame because I miss the days when metal cages, tubs and racks of bottles weren't in the aisle and the aisles were stocked up.

My autistic, anal bugbear in supermarkets is facing up. Why don't the lazy cunts face-up anymore? It looks scruffy.

Already aware of this, and that is indeed his right to do - if he isn't happy with Reform UK and thinks he can do better, that is entirely up to him.

I still believe that all parties on the Right need to unite eventually.

Gimpy and Gawky were never 'normal' but to be fair to Cherie it must have been hard growing up when people knew that your Dad was in films with Robin Askwith's bouncing bottom.

His nibs and I were talking about this last week. He bought a packet of fruit jelly sweet from coop and they were foul. They taste almost floury and had a consistency like what I imagine wallpaper paste does. Turns out they're vegan now and have potato starch in.
I'm not the only one that would only ever call a cat 'his nibs' right? I thought you were talking about that jellied cat food until you said what it tasted like.
It was a long time ago. While she was alive. Well you sort of have to be alive to say things. Yet she was! then! and she did!

She put it better. I'm attempting to recall it!
Is your nan in any way related to England's sweetheart Steven Dawson? He often has to say that he's not dead because he's been alive since birth and that if he was dead then he wouldn't be in the country (which he is anyway).
Seriously, just try to make Cherie’s face and pose.
How is that hard? What you've never stubbed your toe before?

Where I worked we used to call it "pulling forward", and yeah it was basically the task you were expected to default to whenever you ran out of other work to do.

While I don't doubt your autistic bona fides, it's really just yet another example of decline of the country. Twenty years ago it was good, now it's shit. This pattern is replicated over a lot of different areas.

Looks like the Starmerites are trying to smear Burnham after the Mayor of Manchester stated that he wants to force home owners to 'sell up' - trying to make him seem as if he's coming for every house.

However, Burnham only wants rental properties which fail to meet basic housing standards should be purchased by local authorities using compulsory purchase orders (CPOs).

Speaking at an event hosted by the Resolution Foundation, Mr Burnham said: “Homes that were taken out of public ownership have been left in disrepair and exist to make money for absent landlords, while everyone else pays the consequences.”

He added: “We should give powers and funding to councils to compulsorily purchase homes in the private rented sector that are non-decent.”

No issue with this policy (basic living conditions should be as given), and it shows that Labour's divide is only widening as we head into the February recess.

Rupert Lowe's doing a political party. He 's converting Restore rather than team up with Habib. Announcement video.

Also some data stuff. I found a nice government transparency site someone made (parts still in development: https://ukgovscan.com/. It indexes things like:
-Government and local authority contracts
-MP expenses, donations, gifts and outside income
-Political donors (including those that receive government contracts)
-Foreign aid spending

Also the Peace and Quiet Index is expanding to the UK. If you haven't seen it, it's an interactive map that filters for crime and racial makeup in an entertaining and informative manner. While the UK version will have less specific data and probably fewer funnies as a result, I'm sure it'll be worth a look. Link: https://peaceandquiet.io, the creator is retard mode.

That and carding, where you emptied the shelves of empty cardboard and took <half empty trays out and stacked the tins on top.
The sense of pride in walking away from a fully carded, fully faced up aisle was pretty great as a 16 year old.

By "pulling forward" I assume you swizzled the tins/cans/products to have all the labels facing forward in the correct orientation?

He's a liar. He wants this pushing to buy old houses and convert them to migrant hotels because he is funded by paki slum landlords and the big reason, is that he wants to buy the housing estate near old trafford because man u want an even bigger stadium to house their plastic fans while they finish mid table every year.

Around blacks, you can't relax.

I don't think this is the end.

He's better than Farage and Labour will try to put off a GE as long as possible, most likely - so he has time to win people over. And as the only person who seems to be doing anything meaningful for the grooming gang victims he's off to a good start. I hate "Broad Tent" politics like Reform has turned into under Farage. It's good for getting power, not so good for actually changing anything.

Now what I anticipate a bunch of from Reform is "He'll split the vote" on the idea that Reform is entitled to our votes. To which I just want to say to Farage: "You have done that yourself." Reform should never have kicked him out - which they did on blatantly trumped up reasons he was quickly cleared of.

I don't think this is the end.
I kinda struggled to think of what to write to try and meme the two images together, because the moment I saw Lowe's vid all I could see was the Christmas song sperg.

I think his party stands a better chance than Advance, but it's going to be quite the struggle to compete with the momentum behind reform. I wonder how much engagement the press will give him. In some ways I expect they may be gleeful about a chance to split the right / damage reform, but then a lot of the reform voters base prob align a lot more with Lowe, so giving him coverage might have the unintended effect of actually gaining him more grass root support
