A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

If nothing else, it reinforces the three trends that I wrote about after Jenrick's defection; the power balance within the Tories now tips further towards the wets, Reform gain another senior member who will not be content to sit in the shadows, and the space in the market for a new party which represents a legitimate break with the past grows larger.

While Reform is being Reform, Lowe has dug his teeth into the Home Office harder and they have finally admitted they spent £235,000,000 on the 'provision of Migrant Services' PLUS £16m in payments, £53m on security, £19m on translation, overall 4bn on migrants.
The minister has admitted to me, finally, that the Home Office has a contract with 'Migrant Help' for the 'provision of asylum services'.

'Provision of advice, issue reoporting and Eligibility for asylum seekers who are accommodated under AASC.'

The typo is from them, but don't worry - it's only a small contract so no need for that much care...

The value of the contract?

£235,000,000.

That's right.

£235,000,000. Think about how much money that actually is. Think about what the money could do for British communities.

Not just that.

A £16,000,000 contract for the 'support payment services to asylum seekers'.

Security services for illegal migrants?

£53,230,915.85.

Translation and interpretation?

£19,000,000.

I could go on and on and on.

They don't want you to see this information.

ENOUGH is ENOUGH.

Mass deportations, and abolishing the entire asylum system, would save us BILLIONS.

I am determined to use my position in Parliament, and on the Public Accounts Committee, to reveal the truth about these contracts to the British people.
I can't believe Suella. I can't believe I'm still supposed to believe that Reform is the racist party. WHERE IS MY RACISM PARTY I WANT TO VOOT FOR RACISM SAAAR

They need to start quantifying this with a unit of ‘the amount of tax a median wage earner pays per year.’ Seeing it as ‘235 million, which is the equivalent to the amount of tax paid by x number of average taxpayers. For context that’s a population the size of {whatever town}’ might concentrate some minds

Braverman lol. What a fucking joke. Another brown, who's responsible for the mess the country is currently in.
I've not seen any autistic essays from our Welsh faggot yet, so either he's on suicide watch, or is too ashamed to post here because deep down, he know's it's over and everyone who's been banging the bell of Farage being a traitor is right.

I’d go one better, counting in how many nurses it would have paid for. The proles love R NHS. That would shock them a lot more.

Average wage in Stockport (where Are Ange is from) is around 40k. Income tax is 5,486, NI is 2,194.40. It would require the tax of around 30,000 stockport taxpayers, or approximately one quarter of the adult population of the town.

Typical wage for a first-year nurse is apparently £31,048. Not accounting for ancillaries and training costs, that's 7560 nurses. Approximately 7000 nurses were hired last year, so it would have more than doubled the intake.

This is exactly what I want to see people like Lowe using. It’s alright to throw numbers around, but when it’s put in a unit of YOU the taxpayer, and a whole town of them, that’s what makes people angry. People need to feel these numbers on a visceral level

Funnily enough, Richard North, one of the earlier UKIP members pilloried out by Farage, has been going into the costs of things in his most recent article. It's the big-picture numbers rather than in terms of how many taxpayers are required for each amount. Might be worth pitching the idea to him as well, because I know he's at least running in the same circles as Lowe, and he's still quietly influential among the right.

People haven't rioted yet and it's highly unlikely they ever will. So long as the gibs keep coming, the internet stays on, and they can order their goy slop to their door, they don't, and won't, care enough to.

If the mass rape and grooming of the most vulnerable of our native daughters didn't push them to that point nothing will.

I don't like the idea of running from the problems of my country; however, I am not going to be eaten alive by it. I give up on it now. This place is a tyrannical shithole. This thread is one of the only good things about this country, and we have to thank an American for it. Says a lot, really.

I think I will vote for the Tories next time, on the grounds that it has fewer Tories in it than Reform.

Actually just to drive this home a little more, Rupert Lowe's little comment about how much of this is Boris Johnson's old cabal...

Hey, if you're looking for help escaping, ping me a PM and I'll give you some tips. I saw the writing on the wall years ago and looked after me.

I really do feel like Lowe is the only guy who knows what time it is.
His Twitter account posts a good game, but that's run by some Gen-Z staffer. Lowe can barely ever bring himself to make criticism of the Conservatives.

Ben Habib, the person who has been cheerleading Lowe this whole time, is now struggling to hide his frustration with him. He founded Advance after a gentleman's agreement with Lowe that he would be announced leader, only for Lowe to get cold feet after Habib finances it, gets it to over 35000 members, and trys to hand it to him on a plate. Why? Lowe is on the fence retiring politics altogether. Unfortunately for Habib he has zero sense of brevity so this is all across dozens of 15+ minute look Twitter videos.

The rare podcast appearance Lowe makes typically has half the runtime with him talking about Premier League football.

Problematically, when he does talk about fixing the country, it's all just neo-thatcherism and 'free market capitalism is the solution!' arguments. To where even Sargoy of Akkad during his interview was telling him he's not engaging with the real issues of immigration and government. When Sargon of all people is saying you're a bit weak on matters; you really aren't going to fix anything.

You forgot the "" marks around this actual quote that the real Starmer said before he fucked off recently.

I hoped so until I heard his interview with Tucker. The time for being that kind of mildly Brits-first civnat ended over a hundred years ago.

If Nigel keeps Nigeling, Lowe will be given the job of keeping a lid on "us." He'll be much better at it, because he doesn't ooze contempt for normal people, and he's a good poster. Reform can't resist publicly libbing out.

He does this lolbert all-regulations-are-bad-regulations routine in every podcast as well.
"If a bank does wrong by the people there will be a bank run and they will go bust. It's a self-correcting problem!".

Brazenly unserious and retarded, even worse than Tice. He'll say all the right words and then ruin it with some retarded boomer take that's not far removed from "if BP want to sell leaded petrol they should bloody well be able to!".

It's just more of a general rejection of the idea that the people within a society, have a responsibility towards that society. The tories are rife with it.

If you acknowledge that, then you have to acknowledge that there are certain indicative traits common to the members of that society rather than all humans being interchangeable economic units. That leads down pathways the average Tory doesn't want to travel because the destination is ethno-nat.
