A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

This was an interview with JJ Anisiobi ( who seems absolutely out of his depth and maddeningly obtuse throughout the duration - when you see him, you'll know why - has diversity hire written all over him ). At one point Liz even has to tell him what question to ask her, he is so inept.

One of the most interesting bits starts around 10.40 - she explains how utterly screwed we are. I found this really depressing. Nothing will change until the whole system is altered to before Blair. The treacherous unelected bureaucrats ( Civil Service, Judiciary, Bank of England ) are all globalists and climate change loons. They are dug in like ticks into all the pillars of power. It's why the public have continually voted against globalist policies for 20 years and not only have they been ignored, but they have doubled down on them. The politicians are weak. But it would seem even if they do try to do something about it they are undermined. This problem is exacerbated by a whole section of society that have now been captured by this globalist strategy and I see them as traitors too.

I don't see how Reform are going to be effective against this backdrop of technocratic resistance. I don't see how any party that puts natives first can succeed. It's going to require someone with a real strength of character, backed up by a team of like minded people and a solid plan of action ( I don't see this as Farage, apologies to his supporters ).

The events of the weekend have, in equal measure, pissed me off and made me deeply sad and hopeless.

Might be because my routine has been messed up some recently but all I want to do is get home, pick up the bits I need on the way, lock the doors and spend the day in peace and quiet,working on the sewing piece I'm doing at the moment (it's a kit of the UK shipping forecast map).

Normally I love being vindicated but this just makes me unspeakably sad and feel as though it's all completely lost.

I am somewhat optimistic about Reform UK but sceptical of ol Nige. To me he's the shambling, grifting corpse of the system. Zia Yusuf is a 'literally who' and a brown so he can't do anything. I agree that there is no one else but imho we need to completely gut the councils, quangos, ncos, unelected positions, courts, every middle man, and current MP tbh, - but what do you do with all those people who are now unemployed when the immigrants 'keep taking our jobs' so to speak? Sussex Army Cadets (SACF) are caught up in the whole 'housing migrants in the base' shenanigans, it seems no one from the Home Office or Defence Ministry or anyone has informed the base about the decision. SACF have been inundated with complaints from parents and adult volunteers about how SACF is going to safe guard children on the base (cadets are 12-17 depending on branch iirc).

This has reminded me something. Not really related, but perhaps illustrative of our entire political class.

So, as some of you might be aware, the Houses of Parliament are falling to bits physically. It's an old building, not up to modern codes. Leaky, dilapidated, etc.

It needs renovating but in order to do that, all the MPs would need to be relocated. I know a person who works on the estate team and they say with some authority that a best case scenario is everyone out for six years. Worst case scenario is something like everyone put for FIFTY YEARS. Yeah.

Apparently the person authorised to trigger this process is the Speaker of the House. But no one wants to be the one to pull the trigger. Getting to be Speaker is the culmination of a political career, and no one wants to be remembered as the one that caused everyone to get turfed out for god knows how long. No wants this to happen on their watch.

So what happens? These people will literally let the building fall down. They would really rather do that than be responsible for taking the unpalatable, but prudent and preventative, action.
