A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

8% of 100 stabbings? You mean 8 people? 8 Sammis have been killed this year in deadly Bongistan and they're Fresh Princing their Good Boys to Kenya?

That many niggers is shot every day in Chicago, you slambo faggots.

The image of a woman in a Union Jack hijab was used on the front page of The Sun (Twitter)
It had been developed, according to an internal Breakthrough document seen by MEE, because “the UK authorities wanted to challenge ultraconservative and misogynistic interpretations of Islam – particularly those around women – in order to promote the true face of Islam among vulnerable UK communities”.
"We wanted to promote the true face of Islam, so we created this pretend face..."

It might have something to do with how D I V E R S E London has become? With D I V E R S I T Y comes a bunch of different cultures and religions that then all get crammed together in one city, where they're then broken down further into little groups of their own people instead of integrating into their new society.

I know someone from South Africa and it turns out that some African countries actually have a strong drive to be successful, have some sense of pride in themselves and have tight knit communities - and are racist as fuck to anyone who looks one shade off of sandy beige 42 (though other factors are usually involved in them being racist as fuck to others...usually). My friend fucking hates black American culture (especially the women, oof) and I'm one of the few people she can openly bitch to without getting a look of shock lol.

Point is, when you throw in a lot of people from different walks of life into a small area, there's always going to be animosity towards others who look, act and behave differently than them.
Like, not a whole lot of countries today have tried land grabs like most did a hundred or more years ago and most humans also frown upon genocide in general today instead of just razing the earth of those uncultured Spartans across the river.

Maybe the real reason we're seeing less and less war break out is because war's getting smaller: entire countries are on a city scale and maybe when you settle a community of Somalis next to a community of...idk, Iranians and they soon fucking hate each other, well...?

That always amused me when American blacks started to bitch about how oppressed they were to Africans when some of them were literal child soldiers and shot people and watched their childhood friends die for some regime and they are looking at them like the Americans are fucking delusional lunatics.

"If the English physique has declined, this is no doubt partly due to the fact that the Great War carefully selected the million best men in England and slaughtered them, largely before they had had time to breed. "
Imagine if J.R.R. Tolkien was one of them. The man saw friends killed in WWI, and he easily could've been one of them.

Familiarity breeds contempt.

I grew up in a very white area (there were like two Chinese kids at my school and no other minorities) where it was really frowned upon to say anything racist, and I was shocked when I moved to New York and witnessed so much blatant hatred. Most of it was lateral, black people hating Latinos, Latinos hating Asians, and, to a naive teenager, it didn't compute.

The same reason Gene Roddenberry retreated into a fantastic future fantasy. War seems to do something to idealistic young men.

Actually rather interesting how those two traumatized people turned their pain into wonderful creations.

That's a fair point, but even if you remove 12.5% of the top 50 percentile for a5-10 year age range, it would impact genetic stock to a measurable level. I think you're right, though. It wouldn't have the massive effect Orwell suggested.
But what if you extend the scope a little? The British empire was around for a long while and during all that time it needed a lot of sailors and soldiers to run the imperial machine.

At times press gangs would recruit so many people that entire towns would have no working age men at all. That’s gonna put some stress on the gene pool.

Hell here in eastern europe you see a lot of non Pc shit, but while people might stare you really dont have racism here, if certain groups are problematic we say it outloud, but you really dont have racism here,

The craziest thing is that I used to think about the millions of deaths of various conflicts a lot and how it must have reshapen countries.

But the weird thing is, if you look at population graphs, wars don't even make a dent in year-to-year population growth of a country. Like you don't even see a dip in population. If you remove the numbers, you can't pinpoint the first or second world war for western european nations. It's kinda crazy. I think the only two exceptions (if the stats would have been kept) would be the cultural revolution in china and maybe the gulag deaths in soviet russia (and I suppose for minor countries, such as when paraguay lost somewhere between quarter to half of its population in war with brazil.

It's a real mindfuck to be honest.

There are exceptions, though, as you say. Poland would be another...

How about modern world? It's all fine and dandy to be edgy and claim that modern world is degenerate and whatnot. But the cold truth is that compared to what we had 100 years ago, it's a fucking paradise.
So all the advances in technology and society that occurred from 1914 onward were contingent on a war that thinned out an entire generation of young men? Can we say for certain that among the millions who died in the war there weren't a few brilliant minds who would go on to do great things? Hitler survived the war and he went on to become a famous painter. Wait no he created Nazi Germany and got even more millions of people killed.

WWI also got us everybody's other favorite dictatorship the USSR. Between communism, famines, gulags, and the tens of millions who died in WWII Russia is a pale shadow of what it could have become.

Notice how this is me not being edgy but instead it's me trying to ask real questions about how things could have been different if that awful war and the many terrible ways it effected society and history had been avoided. Also where the fuck did you read "REEEEEEEEEEE DEGENERACY" into my very short and simple statement?

Without WWI, we wouldn't have had WWII. Without Soviet Union, we wouldn't have had Cold War. And without the same social forces that fueled the rise and subsequent formation of NSDAP in Germany, we wouldn't have probably had Hippie movement and sexual liberation in the USA. Like it or not, the technological and societal changes these wars brought as a side-effect, the modern world would most likely be quite different from what we have today.

A former Board of Deputies president has apologised for suggesting Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn be “sacrificed for all the trouble he has caused.”

“The word Corbyn in Hebrew is Corban, which is sacrifice,” he joked. “I think we should sacrifice him for all the trouble he has caused.”

Dr Lionel Kopelowitz, 92, who was Board president from 1985 to 1991, addressed members at a meeting last Sunday.

He since apologised for his “clumsy rhetoric”, adding that he did not mean to suggest carrying out a physical attack on Corbyn.

“I deplore political violence and I am sorry that I phrased this so inelegantly,” Kopelowitz said. “I have been saddened and concerned to see increasing physical attacks on politicians, including Corbyn.

“I would hate for my own clumsy rhetoric to be erroneously understood as any sort of vindication of this alarming trend.”

“While […] I believe that Corbyn’s departure from his post would be in the best interests of Jews, anti-racists, the country and the Labour Party, I would want this to be by strictly democratic means.”

He added: “We need to protect our precious democracy and mediate our disagreements through civil means.”

>When Jews are now apologizing to leftists for obvious jokes.

We are still knee deep in clown world, people.
