A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Exactly. War is either defence against a stronger neighbour, or one of resources. Europe isn't worth the hassle to try and invade when, if Russia wanted resources, they could help Iran invade the middle east, push India into Pakistan (and weaken China) or push India into China. Russia gain nothing, at the risk of everything, by invading Europe. It's retarded strategy beyond any that has ever been attempted.

You misread my post. Russia has never bothered me, not once. Russia and the west may not like one another, but there are plenty of enemy-of-my-enemy action between our countries exchanging nukes.

The Russia Ukraine war proved one incredibly vital thing: In a war between two relatively even nations and a gentlemen's agreement not to use nukes, absolutely everything that has been learned over the past 50 or so years of warfare is redundant.

You don't need 10 of the most advanced fighter jets in the world, you need thousands of easy to build shitboxes that can be pushed through a military line to keep being pushed into circulation. More = better as there will be a LOT of things getting blown up, and we can't just keep buying another 10 of the most advanced jets in the galaxy that require 10 years to build if ever the going gets tough.

We are not prepared for any conventional modern war because our military is as much as a paper tiger as our police force, we're a good support unit for blasting Arabs from afar, but when it comes down to it some fucker would just drone attack the airstrip that's housing hundreds of billions worth of aircraft.

I don't give two shits what people do outside of their job, be it the drummer from metallica, a footballer for england or, in this case, the PM. I only care about what they do, or in Truss's case, what she wasn't able to do, while they're doing their job.
In all honesty, I don't care what Truss, Cameron or Johnson are doing now that they're out of a job. The exception is tony b liar, as I do hope he's being raped by niggers, in roblox.

I mean yeah you're not wrong but it turns out Arabs aren't the only ones who have "arabs at war" syndrome when it comes to chronic capability crises.
Our military is in an absolute state ATM there's no denying that but the idea of it at least is still there.

Honestly if the UK government just got their finger out of their arses and started a major planning discussion on how to train up recruits to frontline combat within 6 months (which would be required in such a war when the standing army we have now with an incredible amount of experience would be turned to paste within 6 months) and how to produce tanks and planes on a whim without needing any materials that exist outside of the UK then we'd be feared a lot more than currently even if we don't ever have to use it.

But I don't know how we'd actually do it if such a war came about, the UK government couldn't just take control of factories and tell them to produce tank parts in 2025 because that factory is owned by the Dutch, Germans and Pakis. There's a distinct lack of UK factories for UK things that could be taken over to push a war economy.
 
A story that's been barely reported on is a UK immigration court rejecting the assylum application of an Iranian Christian woman. She was interviewed by a Home Office employee in a Hijab who made a point of stating that Iranian law was actually very progressive. The documentation supplied showing she was forced to convert to Islam was 'lost' and then an altered copy was produced.

The Immigration judge who'll happily let rapists and drug dealers remain in the country simply remarked on it being 'curious'.

Incidentally it's been known for years that huge chunks of the home office are becoming dominated by Pakistanis. The immigration system and particularly the courts seem to also atract them for some reason. Here's a story from 2023 about a Judge that got done only because the corruption was so blatant it attracted outside attention, this was only covered by the Daily Mail. If you scroll down through the article they pointedly have pictures of the other lawyers involved.

That's another problem we have, it's difficult to bar judges because of the legal process so if a Muslamic third columnist decides to worm their way into a key position they're impossible to remove, despite influencing some key decisions.

Muslims hire Muslims as they see them as having a good character trait, just like the moment you hire an Indian to your workforce and they become involved in hiring you're going to see a shitload of Indians in your office.

I don't think we're at a point where we're rounding up judges, tying them to a post and shooting them yet but if Farage fucks it up, the next government will.

Traditionally most of the stuff we find out about our government comes from intercepted russian cables. I would presume the stuff they want released is done by sending lower security cables between themselves.

The passport office was bad for them. There used to be stories every summer of them issuing genuine passports to people using fraudulent details. Don't know if they tightened up the processes or just stopped reporting on them.

I mean a judge being convicted of fraud is an incredible story and yet no paper other than the Daily Mail seemed to report on it. That series of pictures though lol.
