Non-congestive colds reducing COVID mortality is due to the fact it is a bat virus (brought to us by chinese researchers who don't understand PPE leaving the lab and buying fish); your cells have mechanisms to go "Oh shit, I've been taken over by virus, I should kill myself" that are not triggeed by the coof virus because it is different than what your body has encountered- so more of your cells last long enough as virus factories to keep the infection going and spreading, and damaging more lung cells. If you have a short-duration non-inflamatory virus (aka the sniffles) that doesn't cause chest congestion, your cells are more on alert and more readily able to commit seppukku, which means cells infected by the coof virus are more likely to self-terminate before they explode and release clouds more coof to infect more cells.

Triggering immunoresponse is a common issue in non-human origin Corona viruses, and was one of the biggest issues in getting an H1N1/Swine Flu vaccine out - just injecting deactivated virus wasn't enough of an action to trigger your body to do anything about it.

J&J's vaccine gets around the problem by including a compound that basically whips your immune system into a kill frenzy. The Pzifer and Moderna use mRNA to make affected cells produce proteins that mimic the virus' structures in quantities high enough to force your body to respond.

I doubt he did it, and if he did, it must've been easy. Also, if I remember correctly, a temperature sensor just goes on you rad really easily. You just gotta pop on of the hoses off and put the new sensor in spot or something.

Isn't this similar to how prior exposure to cowpox immunized milkmaids against smallpox? (please correct me if I am wrong)

Not quite. Cowpox had similar structures to Small Pox, so exposure to cowpox meant the body had anitbodies ready to bind to the small pox virus and trigger an immune reaction for the missing parts. Given how Small Pox spreads by infecting & reproducing quickly, this jump start would be enough to lessen or prevent symptoms, which lead to higher survivorship.

In the case of viruses in the Corona Family, all that you need is something that puts the body into high-alert mode without making the symptoms worse (or over taxing your immune system) so that the normal immune responses happen before it is too late. When your cells are responding to a cold virus, the cells that are suiciding it makes them more likely decide they are infected and also suicide, which stops COVID as well.
Additionally, for COVID & H1N1 as posted above you need to provide not just the virus but something that makes your immune system decide that this bat-virus is an actual threat and not just stray protein. If you are fighting the cold, you body is already on high alert, so it is more likely to attack and try to create antibodies for COVID.

Also, just an asside:
The lethality of small pox is largely over blown. Small Pox killed, but very rarely directly. Small Pox was lethal because it was a blitz virus - you get infected and the virus spreads very quickly meaning you get very sick and often get the shits for several weeks. In pre-modern times, that is without modern nutrition, sanitation, and heating, just being laid up for two weeks could kill you. When you need to haul your water up from a well, two weeks of shitting yourself could be a death sentence via dehydration as you're too weak to haul your own water. If you could be kept warm, fed, and hydrated and otherwise had a normal immune system you had very good odds of surviving smallpox. But that was the other issue: infection rate. Often it wasn't just you who had small pox. Early on, it might be your whole house, or maybe even a good amount of your whole town. This means there might not be anyone to take care of you - this is why cowpox exposure made survival rates jump. If you can shorten the period you are laid up by small pox even a few days, it really ups your chances for survival.

Alexis de Tocqueville John seems unaware that Republicans control the governorship and both houses of the legislature in 23 states, while Democrats have that control in 15. The GOP gained two states in the 2020 elections. His idea that the Republican Party is in dire straits is idiotic.

John will be surprised to learn that having a retaining wall and a driveway that aren't safety hazards doesn't add "a ton" to a house's value. And you can bet that John and Frank didn't demand a discount on the house's price because of these defects; if they had, John would be crowing about his brilliantly ruthless negotiating skills.
