Of course, Johny lies about being aware that Trump had a very real chance of winning in 2016. If he was honest about the fact that he thought that Hillary would cruse her way to any easy win, he would be admitting that he's a standard leftie and not the big-brained analysis he likes to pretend he is.

If he did, I suspect he was lying. FDNY cancelled those about a week before the big day (a good thing for Hillary in retrospect).

EDIT: He may well have gotten press passes then kept quiet about it after the cancellation; I really don't remember him ever talking about it, or when.

No worries, I just remember because it was a minor scandal in NYC. The FDNY had to come out and explain they couldn't provide oversight for it because it was a partisan display and they don't do those.

I also recall some insightful people saying that buying in on a massive fireworks display something like six weeks before the polls opened was hubris on a terrible scale, but eh, no one ever listens to Cassandra until it's too late.
