Well now hold up. What is poverty? If you're using an objective measure, can anyone in America be said to have experienced poverty, when there are organizations who will give you food & clothing, and often housing, for free? No americans are dying of eye worms, or having dehlibelly, or fearful of being eaten by predators or raped to death by packs of horny monkeys? In America you might be hungry, but you'll never be starving. So by an objective global & historical measure, no one in the US has experienced proverty for at least 50 years, probably longer.

If you're using an objective measure, then yes. Being cut off from free & ready access to mommy and daddy's pocket book, having them only pay your rent and only give you a quarter of a million to make a videogame studio definitely counts as poverty.

That's setting the bar pretty low for poverty. There are pockets of poverty in the US, while not on the kids starving in Africa level, are still pretty appalling for one of the world's richest nations.
