I'm sure any Town Hall that doesn't end up with Lynch ceding his position to John and then letting Frank go in the backdoor dry is "a disaster" to him.

Probably the same dirt we do, the main difference being we'll just let anyone have it for free. It'd be a good deal for someone if Flu was actually a legitimate candidate for office, all this free dirt, but Flu isn't a legitimate candidate, and will never be a threat to anyone, so even our free dirt isn't worth looking at.

The chances that Lynch doesn't have a full dossier on Wu's history on-hand, fully researched and referenced, with plans on who to leak the information to and when, have to be near zero. Mocking Wu is an enjoyable hobby for us but if the race actually becomes real, it becomes a matter of career and reputation for Lynch. There will be nobody more incentivized to crush Wu than Lynch at that point.

If it came to an actual race and Lynch can't figure out how to crush a semi-literate career fabulist who can't connect with people enough to have a single real friend and looks like a hulking wendigo, does he really deserve to win the race?

I'd love to see the race get that far if only for the hilarity of seeing an attack ad on Brianna Wu, and what sort of screeching would result from it.

Oh absolutely agree. At one point right after the 2016 election, Lynch was on NPR Boston, and was asked about Flu declaring his "candidacy" and if he was concerned about it. Lynch basically just laughed it off saying he had better shit to do. I'm sure he and his staff are well aware of Flu, and have a plan and information in place to crush him if need be. I personally doubt if that need will ever arise, but one must plan for anything in politics.
