Twitter introduced a new to hammer home your enlighten opinion. If a candidate or a government official twits something and Twitter deletes if for wrongthink or the guilty deletes it, it can be restored to a timeline.

Who will be able to do it?

  • Be or represent a government official, be running for public office, or be considered for a government position (i.e., next in line, awaiting confirmation, named successor to an appointed position);
  • Have more than 100,000 followers; and
  • Be verified.

The idea itself is OK, preserving "deleted twits from important people" but it's going to be a drama bomb. Maybe it's blessing for Wu they won't dig out more moon rocks out of Bri's timeline?

As we speak he screeching at Frank to buy him more followers so he can get the new cool kids mark. Thank Christ extremely well run and unbiased social media companies like Twitter are around to tell me what's TRUE and HONEST.

I misread the intended purpose of this function and you quoted me before edit, so I'll almost-double-post: the intend of this functionality is to prevent some twits from being dropped… if you're important enough and you made fool of yourself. So Wu will still seethe because Twitter janitors don't even consider her lies to be that important.

No, I think you need to get all three: verified (check), current official or running (check?) and over 100k followers (Wu has 80k). But who the hell knows, Twitter is not actually going to follow that clear path anyway.

But I can imagine Wu tweeting something moronic and Twitter sticking it? Would be a great meltdown.

Yeah, as I recall he deleted a fair number tweets. It isn't like it really mattered because every tweet was carried 24/7 on MSM networks until he made another one so deleting them was pointless. I'm sure there was some vanity shit on his end though.
