I know some people who had a condo, bought by their parents, that they sold for double what was paid. The Chinese buyers bought a 1 bedroom condo for $500k, cash, so their daughter could have an apartment while going to college in the trendy/bar area.Explains the Chinese family that just bought a house down the block from me for over half a million in cash.
Every house that goes up for sale on my block has a steady steam of Chinese at every open house in their luxury cars. These are things liberals are too scared to talk about. They’re addicted to the money from the taxes these overpriced houses go for and they’re afraid of being labeled xenophobic even though they all know the money was illicitly gained and has nothing to do with race.

This same thing happened on a smaller scale starting a couple of years before the handover of Hong Kong to the PRC. I knew a few American small businessmen who were suddenly offered loans to expand their businesses at very attractive rates of interest. No one I knew was fool enough to try it; they knew what kind of partners they'd have in a short time. The terms were just too good.
This is a different thing. There's no imminent event that I know of which would make Chinese businesses try to pump money out of the country before some deadline. It's more of an ongoing thing, but a lot of businesses there have a ton of money and they want it somewhere it's hard to grab. Real estate offers a very large pool of available investment opportunities. They're not in a hurry, so it works very well.

In England we have an area called Poundbury which is being built up and developed as a pet project by one of the Royal Family - semi rural living for local people. Its gorgeous, modern, prestigious...and absolutely nobody lives there because its all foreign investment and holdings.

I read a law blog where a lawyer outlined a scheme/scam he was offered to help someone transfer a lot of money out of China. It started with a chinaman owning a lucrative business asking if he could help set up a company in the US. Sure. Then he was told that he, the lawyer, would be the registered owner of the company. Weird. Then the chinaman explained that the US company would sue the Chinese company over something and they would throw the trial and be forced to pay a lot of money to the US company, completely sidestepping the limit on how much money can be transferred out of China per year.
The lawyer would get a cut of that and transfer the rest to American bank accounts held by the chinese guy.

Want to know what IS predatory? Ads for credit cards with high interest rates plastered all over campus. THAT’s predatory since they’re preying on college kids who have never had a credit card, most likely have no money or a real job, don’t understand how credit works, and lack impulse control.

There's certainly a lot to criticize in US higher education. High costs made worse by student loans, the willingness of colleges to sell expensive yet worthless degrees, and the refusal of colleges to stand by their product. Student loans are just the unsurprising symptom.

There are a lot of problems with higher education, all caused by liberals who work at or run these colleges.
Stop funding feminist studies and allowing people to write a thesis on the intersection of gaming and trannies. They’re addicted to foreign money which they need in order to run these bullshit degree programs that bring in zero dollars. The administrative bloat, funds for diversity initiatives, etc. These schools are run poorly, because it’s all about bringing in as much money as possible and not teaching kids something worthwhile.

Granted, health care, housing, and college tuition have been beating the average inflation rate for about two decades. But that's why it's called an "average". And for tuition specifically, you might recall some obscure dude named William Jefferson Clinton, who back in 1993 pushed the government into making direct loans to students instead of commercial banks, and also lowered the interest rate on student loans. That caused a spike in people getting larger loans for college, especially in the overall low interest rate environment he got Greenspan to extend.
So if you want to identify someone as being predatory towards young college age students, it would be Bill Clinton. But that's hardly a surprise at this point.

Nobody of any consequence will call out John because the only people who could benefit by doing so would face backlash that makes it not worth taking him down. Everyone who actually cares about how much of an asshole he is already knows. John has managed to find a niche where he's just visible enough to get donations, speaking gigs, and interviews, but just under the radar enough that he isn't a threat to anyone with any kind of pull. I have no doubt people on the right who know about him view him as a useful idiot because he's an embarrassment and don't want to expose a useful agent. He's such an embarrassment that nobody really wants to be associated with him.

If a poor family can still afford necessities and comforts, why would it matter that a rich family can afford much more?
There are reasons to be concerned with such inequality. It can be pathological, for example, for a large part of the population to be economically insignificant compared to a select few. This is analogous to the argument against directly electing U.S. Presidents. (But try telling that to a committed leftist.)

You didn’t pay back shit because you never had loans. Did your dad loan you $200k for your failed animation studio or did he just give it to you?
