Wu, talking about network & computer security. The same person who tweeted in real time how she fallen for a shitty spam e-mail from "Apple". Don't worry Wu, if the case is high profile the proper law enforcement unit will handle it. Joe Policeman who does a street beat and write tickets don't have to know how to find a prep hidden behind 7 proxies.

When I was working in ISP the special task forces came to us with a warrant and dragged a huge ass cube of doom into our servers room, it was setup before all our CISCOs and firewalls, it could do a real time packet analyzing and some dark voodoo shit I know nothing of. When you want lockup, say, a gang of drug dealing Armenians, police will find or "lend" security experts.

Wu is probably a person who would complain about police militarization and yet gladly embolden them to hunt Romanian teens who brute force some Spotify accounts.

You definitely don't want the media to do a single nanosecond's worth of soul searching, John, because if they did they'd jettison your goblin ass in half a fucking heartbeat.

How many homeless people do you allow to live in your home and neighbourhood, John?

Nothing could be gayer than the Flynt household though.

"We're not going to wait for the future."

If you didn't have to wait for it it wouldn't be the fucking future now would it you dumb cunt John?

I'm kind of surprised that John isn't Reeeeeeeeing over the forced GND vote. Why isn't he publicly commiserating and offering sympathy and support to Latina Jesus O-C? I thought GND was one of his pet projects. Maybe he's forgotten about it already, what with all the important computer security issues he's dealing with on a daily basis.

Maybe he's starting to view AOC as competition for the pulpit?

damn, double posting
In my homecountry a couple of years ago when fiber was becoming standard you had two choices of fiber installers. Telia open fiber och goverment fiber. This made sure telia had to stay competetive and couldn´t just screw the consumer.
Telia pros
* Choose from a wide array of ISPs
*Faster possible maxspeed.
*Not goverment owned.

Telia cons
*Telia has a notorious rep, like us foreign policy bad
*Expensive installation cost, 35000kr or 3500 dollars
*Even tough you can have a diffrent isp the Net is still operated and owned by telia meaning that an isp has to be allowed to use their service.
*More expensive monthly cost like 400kr or 40 dollars

Goverment pros
*cheaper installation cost, 10000kr or 1000 dollars
*Goverment not doing the operating themself, outsourcing to private companies.
*cheaper cost per month like 300 kr or 30 dollars for 100/10
*Proably using the date to make opinon registrys.
Goverment cons

To add to that and I'll spoiler the sperging for those not interested in spying and surveillance.
The state is the biggest shareholder of Telia and it was privatized from a government entity, that was shit show in itself. I guess it also allows them to do things outside of our borders and they have laid down A LOT of fiber, they used to have one of the largest and fastest trans-atlantic cables and Sweden became part of the 14 eyes because so much Russian traffic was routed through Sweden. Being part of the global surveillance apparatus necessitated new, incredibly broad, signal surveillance legislation that was passed in 2006 - with a belated sigh the gov explained it would only be used to spy on Russia and give the information to the US who had this huge surveillance program ramping up, essentially spilling the beans on ECHELON/PRISM or whatever it was called ten years before Snowden(but no one seemed to notice). Then they addressed the public's concern and criticism by calling them idiots, business as usual.

Telia have expanded pretty far and a while ago they admitted to paying $300 million in bribes to get a foothold in Uzbekistan of all places. So they're certainly doing shady things.

I’ve said it before, John is very salty AOC won and so easily. Also, that AOC is wildly popular now and getting all the attention while John has to pester local papers for op-ed opportunities and puff pieces from cory doctorow’s network of connections.

AOC also actually graduated cum-laude from a top school in economics while John flunked out of several colleges and never held a job in any of the careers he claims to be an expert in.

I feel like this needs to be pointed out again as far as John's AOC salt is concerned: John got more votes in his primary than AOC did in hers. Percentage wise, I really can't say, but just the fact he beat her on raw numbers has got to be driving him crazy.

EDIT: The percentage thing got my curiosity piqued, so I checked into the population of both districts. Amazingly, John might really have pulled it off if MA-8's turnout had been as abysmal as NY-14's: MA-8 is larger, but not by much. NY-14 has about 712,000 people; MA-8 is home to about 732,000. 14,000 votes was enough to get AOC over the finish line, and since it was a safe district that was enough to get her to the House. But Man of the People Stephen Lynch managed to turn out 40,000 votes, so John didn't have a chance. He's got to be fuming.

When John is in Congress, he will pass legislation that also makes him mayor of Boston.

Well John you are standing tall but that's mostly because you are a nine foot tall lurching horror from Siberian village folklore.

Ocasio-Cortez got 16,898 votes in her primary. John got 16,878 in his.

Unfortunately, Ocasio-Cortez's wikipedia page still cites incomplete numbers from the New York Times that didn't include results from nine precincts.
On June 26, 2018, Ocasio-Cortez received 57.13% of the vote (15,897) to Joe Crowley's 42.5% (11,761)

Ahhhhh I was going off Ballotpedia, which I thought was more current. My bad.

Still, I think the point stands that either John did way better in his primary than is generally thought, or AOC did way worse. A difference of twenty votes is insignificant.

No offense but it's not helpful to compare vote totals from completely different races. Just for starters, Crowly and AOC was a heads up race whereas Wu's was not. I don't think John could even tell you how many votes AOC (or himself probably) got. He just knows that he lost, badly, and that AOC did not.

I dunno, I think it's an interesting comparison. Crowley was considered a completely safe bet for reelection; so was Lynch. AOC and John were both longshot upstarts with no experience, but AOC ran a genuine grassroots campaign with way more on-the-ground stumping than John could manage in his wildest dreams. Yet people turned out for Lynch in a way they didn't for Crowley. It probably says more about voter engagement in each district than anything else.

Also, note this little debate represents more thought than John put into his entire "canidacy."
