"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE" is the media equivalent of marking a letter "ADDRESS SERVICE REQUESTED" or "Postmaster: Please deliver between 3/1 and 3/15". Everyone knows to throw it immediately in the trash.

Actually, "For Immediate Release" does serve a purpose with legitimate press releases or write-ups in that it gives the media permission to publish the information contained therein.

That said, one could probably discard any such release from B.Wu and not miss anything of value.

Yeah, but the real reason Brianna includes it is to look official and important. If she ever did get some kind of public office, I guarantee you she would start these things with "From the Office of The Most Esteemed Boston Dog-Catcher Brianna Wu, for IMMEDIATE RELEASE..."

It's not like he has the clout to send it off to the media and have them sit on it until the designated publication date, he just posts it himself on Facebook/Medium/Twitter which is what makes it extra stupid.
If we disregard the obvious vanity and imagines that it serves a purpose, "FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE" would only serve as a reminder to himself that he can immediately post the crap he just wrote.

... violence being planned on 8chan, the site where the Christchurch killer was radicalized ...

... This is personal to me, as 8chan was the group primarily behind Gamergate ...
49 people are dead but remember what they did to me?? I had to move my desk around the house to make out I was fleeing from danger..

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE seems to inevitably result in crickets chirping as far as the real world is concerned. Has John not noticed that his Very Important Announcements die of inattention, like a dog left on the front doorstep in a winter storm?

Or does Frank send fake email replies from John's heroes to bolster his self esteem and prolong the dream, like some latter day Max to John's Nora Desmond?

"Dear Brianna, you are the Godzilla of Tech this country needs, and your cocktail dress is very attractive indeed. Much sexier than a polyester pantsuit, as befits a True Woman. @RealHillaryClinton"

"Brianna. If I were still alive, I'd hire you to head my new iRocket division of Apple, which is a desperately needed Space Initiative to protect us from lunar rocks dropped down the gravity well. I understand you are a Space Commander from Space Camp, and I look forward to meeting you ASAP to discuss this. @Steve(God)Jobs"

"Hey, Brianna. Just saw your latest Press Release. I have sent a private jet to pick you up in two hours, to bring you to Washington. Your nation urgently needs you. Prepare to stay a few months in my guest room (which adjoins my own bedroom, wink wink), as we work together to make GND a reality. I've got PowerAde chilling in the champagne bucket already. Smoochies, and fight the power. @AlexandriaOcasioHyphenCortez"

He didn't move the desk to the other side of the room, he asked the screaming mongoloid to do that.

You made a joke, I got it. But when the subject is John, the reality is always worse.

Does Wu not understand that municipal bonds are debt that the municipality has to pay back? Obviously Wu has been insulated from economic reality her entire life because various sugar daddies have paid for her every whim, but not being aware of basic economic reality is a whole different level of stupid.

She's insulated from reality, everything she says about herself there is a lie, the tech company, the "business" she does with them, the frequent trips to SF, the fantasies of a compulsive liar.

San Francisco has a homeless problem because they allow themselves to have a homeless problem, and have done so since like the 60s. Gentrification has little to nothing to do it with. Forbidding government offices - including the police - from doing anything about homeless encampments, and providing free meals and free spaces to go warm up when the temperature drops below the frost-bite causing 50 degress attracts the homeless, causes them to stay there. This also encourages other cities to solve their homeless problem with free bus tickets to San Francisco, since the homeless tend to stay there, because why would they leave?.

SF is already working hard to tank the City's economy in the name of homelessness and keeping the city a dirty shithole in the name of stopping gentrification. They passed a corporate tax on any business with over $50 million in revenue. https://www.sfchronicle.com/politic...omeless-tax-measure-to-raise-300-13369555.php
Which, shockingly, had their shit-lib Mayor came out in opposition to.

Because she was grounded enough to realize that SF already has more money for homeless support programs than they can spend (not enough vetted & compliant programs) so the tax money isn't going to do much to actually fix the problem. The lefties reeeeee'd and she was forced to abandon her opposition.

New corporate taxes aren't about raising money for the homeless, however. Its about trying to make the city as hostile to corporations (Google) as possible. Which I'm certain will be a viable long term strategy.

Her ideas of homelessness reminds me of how clueless she is about life.

In the real world, the one outside of John's head, nobody uses "For Immediate Release." Everything that is sent out is, by default, for immediate release unless it includes an embargo notice stating the date and time the material can be published or broadcast. And nobody puts embargoed material on social media. Because that would be exceptionally ruhtarded. I wonder if John passed a single journalism course in college.

John's idea that $100 million is a rounding error in any industry on the planet is one of the stupidest things he's ever written. And that is quite an accomplishment. I guess we can add economics to the list of college classes he never passed.

SF already spends $300 million a year on the homeless(that's fake news according to some sites because that money includes paying the rent of homeless people), it's not including the $65 million on washing away feces from the streets and other things like that though.
Wu is really doing the "It's one banana Michael, what could it cost? $10?" but clueless in another direction of costs.

It's also telling that if there are homeless people around a place he visits he don't want to go there. If the business bused the homeless away he would be fine with it, he don't want to see homeless. Out of sight out of mind.

Sort of related, a good article about SF SRO's

What is this, I can't even.

She's literally doing a PHB from Dilbert.

I was going to try to explain how this makes no sense for normies, but there's literally no meaning in those words to form the basis of a criticism, They're just software engineer-y type words Wu has heard that she's stringing together in to sentences she hopes make some kind of sense.

I guess he's too busy pretending to be involved at GDC to continually sperg out about the New Zealand shootings. Normally you'd think it would be impossible to shut him up about such a perfect storm of Gamergate, alt-right, 8chan, etc

DevOps vs Waterfall?

Waterfall, as far as I know given my (introductory) software developer background, is nothing more than a development strategy like Agile.

DevOps is the name of a whole group of people that would use Waterfall.

May as well debate using C versus git.

I admit it would be unusual for a DevOps group to use waterfall for most things; their priorities are often driven by sudden issues, not big plans made well in advance. But that's no excuse for that babble John let fly.

John just throws around buzzwords he's heard and didn't understand. The people dumb enough to follow him are either completely ignorant of what he's talking about to the point they can actually think what he's saying makes any kind of sense, or so drunk on soy they willfully ignore that he's talking pure gibberish.

Didn’t SF just pass a head tax to fund even further waste of taxpayer money on homelessness? They raised a tax to blow $300 million on homelessness and already were spending $150 million. How does Brianna Wu aka John Flynt continue to be mind numbingly stupid and wrong all the time? If you’re going to talk about an issue at least spend 2 minutes googling it before you tweet something out of your ass to try and sound smart and empathetic.

Also, whenever John tweets tech stuff it further shows how stupid he is about those issues andthsr his claims of being an engineer and managing teams are bogus. His followers are equally as stupid and eat his bullshit up.

My spirit left my body when I read DevOps (or, how I'd like to call it: DevOoops) for aviation. That's mighty tarded. My software has bugs, hell, I even know some paths that throw unhandled errors. The worst thing that will happen is a notification for an user and me being pestered by an e-mail with a stack. It's my fault, I'm just too lazy sometimes. It happens.

But you do not write specialized, limited in scope, life ending if you get it wrong, software like that.

DevOps vs. Waterfall is like comparing hammers to blueprints. It make only make sense in a tech-speak spawning Wu's brain. It's like confusing "what I do" with "how I do it?".

For those not in the know, DevOps is a marketing terms for what most of system administrators used to do, but packaged in a shining bag (with, I admit, some great tools like Ansible) — an automatic way of dealing with infrastructure and application deployment. It's your hammer for hammering your servers to act how you like with little overhead.

Waterfall is an once dominating methodology of software development. You collect requirement, you build off them. The trick is in the details, first phase is never accurate enough, and the second phase never satisfy the first phase. But it's often the only way to bring software that's tangled in red tape.

For this shit to work you need engaged people, project managers who can negotiate and bosses who are not afraid to push someone's shit back right into their assholes. So it can work, but it often does not.

The old school software practices, while cumbersome and not glamorous, produce decent results. This is the closest software gets to engineering. You can get an run of a mill engineer to build you a bridge that won't collapse, but you need luck to have software project working because we deal with garbage in/garbage out, not physics.

Wu just heap fresh shit on the mountain of bullshit. Her "solutions" are stupid and anyone who had to deliver running software can spot it in an instant. Software development is an art, but it's mostly "Picasso drawing you an portrait". You're lucky if your nose is near your face.

(I freely admit I'm drunk on whisky, I just got a bit a-loggy)
