The granny eyeglasses never fail to make me question if Wu has a mirror. Ill fitted, terrible design and not matching face shape. They only lack plastic "diamonds" embedded in them to complete this trainwrack.

He's going for this classic look:

What do Ghostbusters and captain marvel have in common, other than talentless hacks and a shitty script? They attacked the fans, they attacked the audience, etc.
And when it comes to Brianna Wu writing articles, it would be about nothing but hating on GamerGate like the Ghostbusters 2016 article Wu wrote.

As an interesting aside to the whole "victims of gamergate" brigade, I notice that Randi Harper has gotten herself a proper job and is about to shut down her patreon. There's only a limited amount of praise I can bestow because the whole reason she did this was because the patreon was no longer providing her enough money to live on, and while she was living off the patreon bucks she did nothing except play overwatch as far as I can tell, but still it's worth a golf clap for doing the right thing at the very end. Sacrificing 1500 bucks a month which people would probably still give her out of sheer inertia whatever she did is worth some recognition.

Meanwhile, Wu shows every sign of wanting to go on collecting the patreon bucks until there's nothing left something like 3 years after even the ostensible purpose was moot. Given the whole "paying someone to read my tweets" thing was bullshit even in the beginning, that's high order scumbaggery right there.

I think he'd more be like something from the sequel. Wulander II: The Dickening.

Highlander 2 is like something Wu would dream up and think is super cool. It's really shitty sci-fi where the hero drives a (very classic) porsche, it's about a cackling evil corporation that controls the ozone shield that keeps out the unfiltered sunlight that killed millions of starving PoC's, but wait, the movie is actually about sword fighting so let's throw in aliens on hoverboards, don't remember if they had swords, but the bad guy is called General Katana, swords!

It's all so very stupid.

DEDHAM, Massachusetts — Candidate for U.S. Congress Brianna Wu announced strong support for the plan proposed by Senator Elizabeth Warren to regulate large tech companies. Wu is running for the 8th Congressional District in Massachusetts and is widely recognized as a national political leader on technology issues.
“This is a smart, ambitious plan,” said Ms. Wu. “And it will create competition in the tech industry. Our field is best when we are forced to innovate.”
Warren’s plan includes a proposal to force Facebook to sell Instagram and What’s App — a move reminiscent of the anti-trust action against Microsoft in the late 1990s. Wu says this is the most important part of Senator Warren’s plan.
“Facebook buys all competition in sight,” said Wu. “And even though most consumers are disgusted with the way they behave, they have no place to turn. The is anti-competitive, and ultimately stifles competition.” Wu added that Oculus, a leading virtual reality technology, should be added to the list.
The proposed legislation also places limits on the ability of large tech companies to collect private information about users and sell it. “Right now, the financial incentives are to gather every piece of information they can,” said Wu. “It’s the reason most Americans no longer have privacy. This plan will put consumers back in control of their digital lives.”
Wu wants to expand Warren’s Proposal and create liability for companies that are grossly negligent in how they treat cybersecurity. “Big tech won’t take cybersecurity seriously until it’s more expensive to do it wrong than to do it right. Under my plan, companies will be indemnified against legal action for breaches if they follow Infosec best practices. But if they don’t, as was the case with Equifax, they should expect to answer to their users in court.”
Wu added that Warren’s plan is a great start. “I don’t agree with everything in this plan, but it is a strong first step. When I am serving in the United States Congress, this bill will have strong support in my office.”

Wu has to get her oar in by "adding Oculus" to the list. Despite Oculus not being involved in any way in data gathering or trading in user data, thus demonstrating that Wu has completely missed the point.

Doubtless Facebook will spin off Oculus eventually, it was a dumb purchase that's a complete mismatch for their core business like ebay and skype back in the day. In the mean time, it's completely irrelevant to the broader privacy discussion.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, guys!

:story:

I suppose Medium is a step up from posting on Facebook so thanks for listening, John. Maybe you should work out some kind of pay exchange with @Null for our services. I think he might even charge you less than the twits in NY.

Counter point, this is not laudable at all as unless her new job is being a training partner for new demons starting their shifts in the 6th circle of hell, because otherwise it means she now has coworkers and so some undeserving schlubs are going to have to interact with that ball of triggered.

Poor Natalie is in her 170th trimester now, that fetus is now John’s social media manager for the campaign in the womb.

Heh, I just realised. She's paid that design company 10K or whatever it was she claimed it was going to cost and they delivered her a brand new website based on a fancy wordpress theme... and Wu's posting blog entries on Medium of all places. Nice fucking job. I'm not sure whether they just don't have a news widget, or whether the Wuman in tech is too stupid to figure out how to post entries to a Wordpress blog.
