I don't think in the older versions of this story the mysterious man was hitting on him while explaining computa grafix to John d'Carmack.

He's a game developer professor at NYUgamecenter, whatever that is, but looking at a blog post he linked called thick skin.

Yes, he's probably painting his adult(he feels that it's necessary to point that out) step-son presumably nude even though what is seen is the entirety of the painting.

Even if it were a collision mesh, "just delete the top half and reverse polarity normals wouldn't give you a floor. There would still be nothing inside the sphere, so you'd just end up with clothes that fall through the visible floor into this bowl-shaped thing below it.

Also the collision box would be concave, so all the collision logic would just go "fucked if I know, brah" and launch everything that came near it off to infinity at the speed of light.
