Even if we take her shit at face value, it she can only have been talking about Christmas 2006, 'cos by 2007 she already had her claws well in to Frank. So she'd then endured this horrible ordeal of having to have a job for a whole three months, October through December. How terrible. How this story jibes with her previously having said she worked for Gamestop when Twilight Princess came out (Nov. 2006) I can't imagine. Does Gamespot open on Christmas day now?
GameStop corporate would never have allowed that to happen. It’s 100% a lie like everything else John says.

John was living with his rich aunt in Colorado during this horrifying period. The address on his Colorado drivers license is a very expensive house in a very ritzy neighborhood.

And GameStop is a corporate operation. The store manager taking a day off is not going to delay anyone's paycheck by a single minute. It is, however, quite possible that John's paycheck totaled zero dollars and zero cents because he didn't show up for a single shift during the previous pay period.

Edit: Ninja'd on the paycheck bullshit by @Sissy Galvez.

Excuse me Miss'ippi John, but clearly J. Scott Cambell's legendarily iconic Danger 1 has a uni-exhaust, while yours has obviously a dual exhaust instead. Nice try poser, but not the same at all, to be fair!

You need the image as well.

Well the story is oddly specific and the short period she held down a job coincides with the holidays. The typical Wu story is a string of cliches that don't make sense at any time of her life. Plus it seems like she's withholding facts to make it sound worse.

I think the more interesting thing is that even if her boss didn't bother to enter her hours and forced her to work on Christmas; A broke Brianna Wu wasn't able to have a Christmas without a paycheck?
A person with friends and family would have a few gifts to open and someone to hang out with if their paycheck was late on Christmas.

Once again we have a story of Brianna experiencing something horrible and yet refusing to do anything about it.
If your employer is fucking with your pay, report them to head office with proof, and they'll crack down on it faster than you can say "arrears".

John I thought you gave up on this game once you discovered you couldn't masturbate right out of the box.

The best part is that Wu thinks that nobody else knows that shit because to Wu having to work at a retail job is equivalent to hitting rock bottom. Or the fact that Wu is only capable of commenting on current events by relating them to some made up hard luck story from their "past".

+1 to Sissy there.
Unless the business has tanked as in completely shuttered and final pay never showed up, I take anyone's stories about bossman fucking their pay with a whole mine of salt.

I have worked for some shady fucking employers, who engaged in a fair amount of questionable to illegal-but-good-luck-proving-it business practices. I have never had one I filed a W-2 with fuck with me on clocked hours or paycheck delivery. Because as scummy as they were, they knew that Department of Labor does not fuck around. I got screamed at and fired because I wouldn't back down on an hour that I worked and he said I didn't. But guess what? Week later, final paycheck showed up in the mail and I was paid for that hour Because DoL does. not. fuck. around. An employee call to the DoL brings a whole new world of bureaucratic pain down on a business. And that's just a report, god forbid they find you've actually been up to anything.

And that's just a report, god forbid they find you've actually been up to anything.

This is why this is the kind of utterly outrageous lie only someone who has never worked, like John, would even try to fob off on even the amazingly stupid and gullible idiots who follow this snarling ghoul.

Didn't that "Gamergate killed my dog" episode happen around this time 3 years ago? Are we due for some crocodile tear-filled pity party tweets?

But...but...that totally happened, you guise! It's obvious that as a poor black bisexual natal woman who was born while her slave mother was being lynched by the KKK, Bri-bri was always getting the short end of the stick!

Bri-bri was always getting the short end of the stick!

Until, after years of frustration, John had that troublesome stick removed. Is it significant that he always brags "I drive a manual" instead of "I drive a stick"? Maybe no one says "I drive a stick" anymore, I dunno.

I still half-suspect that they don't even have a separate bank account for the campaign, and it was all run out of Frank's personal account. With the constant blizzard of stupid John purchases, he probably doesn't even know what the balance "should be" at any given time.
My evidence for this is some of the early filings where Frank made simple clerical errors and got the cash-on-hand calculations wrong by some trifling sum, a couple hundred dollars. Obviously at this point he wasn't trying to commit fraud, but for whatever reason he just let that calculation ride for the next year and never checked it against the bank balance. My theory: it's because he couldn't.

Given how the Wus fritter away tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars on cars and other items that sit around to collect dust or rot, I'm not surprised at this so-called "clerical error." Neither Frank nor Brianna, based on what gets posted here, appears to know how to responsibly manage money.

Whether there was a separate account or campaign funds were commingled with personal funds, something as simple as a monthly bank reconciliation could have brought attention to a balance discrepancy sooner than a quarterly FEC report and subsequent inquiry letter. Again, this gives credence to the idea Frank & Brianna are more skilled at spending money than properly managing it.

That said... $30K is still a lot to go missing, and Frank surely must have noticed that he was typing an extremely large number in box 11. The motive eludes me though, because the money never really existed - it's not like John got to spend an extra 30 grand under the radar. I wonder if this all was an attempt to impress some potential donor and prove that Wu For God-Emperor was a legit campaign.
Alternatively... there is the matter of that outstanding $50K loan from Frank to the campaign. This correction takes them from "able to pay it back" (at least on paper) to "taking a loss". I wonder if there's any advantage one way or the other, again given that the money never existed.

It wouldn't surprise me if Frank felt the SEC reporting form was nothing more than a spreadsheet where one simply plugs in the numbers and sends in the completed form without double-checking any calculations or verifying crossfoot totals as appropriate. Unfortunately for Frank, governmental agencies expect numerical reports to have totals that properly balance, crossfoot, and agree with previous reports (e.g. the previous period's ending balances should match the current period's starting balances).

I'm not sure why Frank didn't check the numbers after the system change to make sure there were no oddities such as this $30 k discrepancy. Given the collective lack of logic in that household, I can't speculate as to how it happened or why it wasn't caught right away.

My feeling is that the loan from Frank is most likely a sunk cost that may never be repaid, so I don't think the current cash balance makes a difference.

Remember they fucked up on their very first report and were reprimanded for it. This is just going to trigger extra scrutiny every time they file something from now on.

From dealing with day job clients, it's safe to say a late or improperly-filed federal or state report can often be enough to garner additional behind-the-scenes scrutiny that seems to last indefinitely. I'd even say that if the FEC didn't have the Wu campaign on its radar before, it most likely is now.

I don't think anyone here is :optimistic: enough to say that the Wus will take the hint from this recent exchange and start to file correct and proper campaign reports moving forward and deprive us of the pleasure of reviewing said reports for inconsistencies and other significant discussion points.

Is it me or is it kind of strange the way John describes it as a “payment” as opposed to what most people in the US would normally call a paycheck.

I love stuff like this where John is simply so out of touch he is unable to convincingly lie about something that would otherwise be a pretty trivial lie that most people could convincingly pull off just by saying it like a normal person.

While I think we're pretty sure that the error here is that they declared more donations than they actually received, if you're the FEC you've got to be at least somewhat suspicious that it's the other way around: the error here is that the total cash apparently on hand can't be reconciled with the accounts because the money has been embezzled.

I wonder what is it about this report in particular that has tripped the FEC's bullshit detector. It seems like a real human FEC employee is taking an inordinate amount of time to chase up relatively small sums. I also wonder if there's some enforcement endgame they're going to fall afoul of, because after filing the same report 3 times the numbers STILL don't add up, even if you assume they're the right numbers. Like, Frank's even written the error fairly obviously on the form. He's employed the subtotal and cumulative total boxes on the disbursement pages, but the numbers in those boxes aren't the same numbers as he's declared in the summary.

Whatever the case, there's something very wrong with the way Wu's doing her accounting. Possibly several things wrong. I wonder if, in addition to using Franks/BriBri's account for their campaign, she doesn't even decide what is actually going to be a campaign expense until the end of the quarter, and that's how we get the absurdities like her various holidays to California being "fundraising trips." It's got to be the case that she's not keeping a double entry ledger, given how wrong the figure always are.

I’m willing to bet that there are a number of low level investigators at the FEC that have made careers out of chasing down the various scams run by and through various first time fringe Congressional Campaigns. It’s easy pickings. Such campaigns are always sloppy. Often crim8nalky corrupt. Invariably lose, and thus have no power or political friends with which to make the FEC’s lives difficult. It’s a great way to rack up Enforcement gains without any risk of blowback.
