There's a new FEC report out:
http://docquery.fec.gov/pdf/225/201812189143568225/201812189143568225.pdf
A second attempt at revising the July 2018 filing. The key bit, in which Frank got called on the carpet by an actual FEC employee of some sort and grovels abjectly:

Dance, Chinaman, dance!
Oh no, not a TELEPHONIC DISCUSSION!!!

Are both of this couple illiterate idiots with the socialisation of autistic frogs? Why labour the point of correcting your mistakes in such an obvious way? If Frank had just corrected the figures with a note added to say the revision was due to a clerical error, the story would be a lot more convincing. You can bet he grovelled like mad during the 'telephonic discussion'. Whoever is going over their accounts doesn't need a liberal helping of bullshit to go with figures that still don't add up. Liars overwork a point.

Get a separate bank account for the politician fraud fund, Frank.

They must be flagged and they’re going to be scrutinized on every report.

Remember they fucked up on their very first report and were reprimanded for it. This is just going to trigger extra scrutiny every time they file something from now on. The fact they have now repeatedly fucked up probably has them in danger of actually being fined or prosecuted for it if they keep filing bullshit.

From the fact that screamface is groveling so much, they may already be looking at that.

LOL at thinking John has ever talked to a blue collar worker at an Amazon warehouse. Or even a blue collar worker in general.

He did talk to a few during his election campaign.
He sat there and rambled about shit workers don't care about and when they butted in to explain the things that did matter, he proceeded to do his ghoulish nodding and ignored them.
It's safe to say they were more than a little weirded out.

While I think we're pretty sure that the error here is that they declared more donations than they actually received, if you're the FEC you've got to be at least somewhat suspicious that it's the other way around: the error here is that the total cash apparently on hand can't be reconciled with the accounts because the money has been embezzled.

I wonder what is it about this report in particular that has tripped the FEC's bullshit detector.
Well, I think you said it yourself - Frank is doing a great impression of an embezzler. Frank probably just hit the perfect storm of incompetence: already having the account flagged for mistakes, then "disappearing" something like a third of the committee's entire turnover right at the end of the barely-existent campaign. To an outside observer that sure does look like cutting and running after a criminal enterprise.

I also suspect the FEC sees more data than we do - in the past I think they've flagged things about unitemized repeat donators who should have been itemized, which they'd only know if they had the complete raw data for the entire cycle. And we know that Frank is terrible at kicking the doxing habit - the first time he tried to un-itemize his donators he got it all wrong and had to re-file. There are probably like a billion errors and inconsistencies in the data not available to the public. It actually wouldn't surprise me if his excuse about changing software is mostly true: maybe he did some weird negro-rigging to suppress the dox in the old software, and when he imported it all into the new software it didn't correctly recognize whatever he did. We do know from the expenditures report that they really did change software, at least.

It's got to be the case that she's not keeping a double entry ledger
Dude's probably not even keeping a single-entry ledger.

In B4 John tweets "Trump's FEC has targeted my campaign because a real women canidate threatens their heggymonic patriarchal structure. Am backchannelling and will release a statement tommorow."

I'm surprised Wu didn't blame GamerGate yet.

I mean, does the FEC care about ~$30K in suspiciously absent funds? It would be hilarious to watch the Wus dance as they dig their financial fraud hole deeper and deeper, but federal agencies to prosecute this sort of crime tend to be severely understaffed and surely have bigger fish to fry.

It doesn't really cost them much to fine someone. In fact, the woefully underfunded FEC makes much of its operating budget by fining people for often trivial fuckups.

Guess Wu's their perfect victim them. They can fine her for all the missteps of her scampaign, Wu cries about it on twitter and we get to watch

Their eyes probably lit up with dollar signs when they got the campaign treasurer himself on the line, rather than a letter saying "Talk to our lawyer".

After John's better-than-expected showing in the primary, it's quite possible that a certain Massachusetts congressman mentioned to one of his many influential allies that it sure would be nice if someone filed a complaint with the FEC about the fraudulent bookkeeping and illegal spending taking place in the Wu campaign.

Frank's ludicrous grovelling and repeated denials that there was any "intent to deceive" convince me that the FEC said quite a bit more than, "We've noticed some minor accounting discrepancies. Please file an amended report."

Looking forward to John sobbing about how being persecuted by the TRUMP ADMINISTRATION as they try to keep HONEST and TRUE women from running in 2020.

Most of it's automated I'm guessing. Just like the IRS. The software (probably written in evil FORTRAN) flags filings and throws them on the desk of an investigator who asks them to amend. Doubt anyone is scouring over these when they're submitted.

It is pretty funny since last week she was criticizing the DoD for not being tech savvy enough and requiring her expertise. Meanwhile her campaign can't figure out how to use Quicken.

It might have even been COBOL. I remember as recently as the '90s, the FEC database information used to be in an archaic flat-file database where every field was fixed-width. It was a nightmare to work with or even look at. From the way it was organized (and I am speaking from recollection and not actual knowledge) it looked like it was data from old-style punchcards.

This is the current summary data format:

Code:
H8MA08170|WU, BRIANNA|C|1|DEM|147827.24|0|115430.86|0|0|69144.02|0|50000|0|0|0|50000|97827.24|MA|08||||||0|0|09/30/2018|50|0

Anyway whatever they're using is pretty old.

I was just kidding about FORTRAN. She was crying about it last week. But agree, it's probably old (although works!).

Still don't get how you can fuck that up by so much. This is really basic accounting stuff. Money in and money out. Not like a business that's dealing with shit like depreciating assets and tax withholding for employees.

This is still true except for a few dedicated forms that allow freeform text data - and there are about a dozen different revisions of the format that a parser would have to deal with if you want to read historical data.

I like the idea that all the campaign funds were just put into Frank's account, because they essentially considered it their money to spend. Wu's campaign was and is a purely vanity campaign, and part of that includes her treating all donations to 'Wu for Congress' as donations for 'Wu the person'. Frank probably does his own taxes, so they figured it would be just like that for FEC filings - skipping over the fact that they were in reality committing fraud.

Brianna's never been good at differentiating between 'yours' and 'mine'. I'd say this is just another example of it, because she thought the money was all hers.

We never did talk too much about the guy who has hitched himself to the Wu wagon at least temporarily.

This guy:

He's called Paul Casali and he lives in New York.

Twitter: https://twitter.com/paulcasali
Website: https://www.casalikeller.com/
Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/paul-casali-26a619/

Like all proper political consultants he's using a shitty squarespace template website and a gmail address.
He previously worked for Diane Savino as field director, and before that some guy who lost in the primary for a congressional seat (FORESHADOWING!)

Before that he used to be a recruiter, and therefore scum of the earth. He also went to some no-name university in Florida from which he may or may not have graduated.

Knock yourselves out, Kiwis. Maybe if he put his name here enough he'll google himself and come read Wu's thread. I look forward to him finding out about Wu and quitting in disgust.
