Without kneejerk scaremongering (or at least, attempted scaremongering) and hashtag activism, what exactly does John bring to the political process?
Despite all evidence that he's incapable of achieving anything of substance, he continues to bellow melodramatically and self-righteously as if he's the savior of our country. Even while acknowledging that he done goofed by trying to be a "disruptor" and not doing the most basic commonsense things for his campaign to succeed, he still poses as leader of a group of revolutionaries who will "flip this shit". Because that sounds badass to him, and he is nothing if not a legend in his own mind.
He has only the most surface-level understanding of the world and seems incapable of actually ever learning from his mistakes, or making any effort to mitigate his ignorance. He's the sort of person Chesterton was talking about when he said:
"In the matter of reforming things, as distinct from deforming them, there is one plain and simple principle; a principle which will probably be called a paradox. There exists in such a case a certain institution or law; let us say, for the sake of simplicity, a fence or gate erected across a road. The more modern type of reformer goes gaily up to it and says, “I don’t see the use of this; let us clear it away." To which the more intelligent type of reformer will do well to answer: "If you don’t see the use of it, I certainly won’t let you clear it away. Go away and think. Then, when you can come back and tell me that you do see the use of it, I may allow you to destroy it."
To which, John would stare incomprehendingly, then snarl and start blurting out inane slogans he saw that morning on some other dimbulb's twitter feed.
